Hello,

We have a 15 year old daughter raised in a christian faith. She was baptized in a church which I would call closer to baptist than evangelical. I know she is struggling with hormonal changes and thoughts she considers impure. She might be concerned with falling out of God's grace because of it. This leads to marked anxiety that is becoming very obvious and I want to intervene before it goes too far.  She is now anxious about many things to the point she could barely function. She is very intelligent, top student and tries to find answers in the Bible herself which sometimes raise more anxiety. I would like to see which approach may work best, especially if somebody is familiar with situation or can direct me to appropriate resourse. We tried to talk to her about normal growth, with partial effect. We put her in a christian high school which is in real life more denominational and does not shelter her from exposure to boys. Here are some thoughts I have so far:

Show the Bible verses about overcoming fear and anxiety. Show the Bible verses about salvation, where one can conclude that once person is saved she is always saved, which is my belief. May not address her internal conflict.

Ask pastor if he knows a counsellor experienced with this but she may be more comfortable with online/phone christian counsellor which would be anonymous.

Homeschooling is now an option we strongly consider even though we would like her to go to a top college later on.

Thanks!

Welcome to Online Baptist Docc, nice to have you with us. It may be beneficial for you to go to the "Introduce Yourself" forum and tell us a bit about yourself. It helps if we know where you are at in life in order to respond to you properly. I noticed that you indicated that you were not an Independent Baptist in your profile, it would help if you could tell us just what religion or kind of church you have been attending.

More in line with your question, which I don't have a concrete answer for until we have a bit more information on both you and your daughter, is this response: "You said your daughter was baptized, but you didn't say if she was saved. Would you care to elaborate on this a bit?"

Yes, she is saved. Me and my wife are immigrants from Eastern Europe and my apologies for not following the correct route for new forum members. We are members of a large evangelical church which formally accepts but does not practice prophecies etc, that is why I said it may be closer to Baptist than Pentecostal in doctrine. I am, however, worried that my child has a what I think some call a Pentecostal fear but I would like to know more about it.
