Members Standing Firm In Christ Posted October 15, 2014 Members Posted October 15, 2014 Parents in Lincoln, Nebraska, were up in arms after teachers were given teaching guidelines that advised them not to use “gendered expressions,” like calling the students “boys and girls.” The handout said that so as not to impose any specific gender classifications on students who might be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, teachers should create non-gendered terms like “purple penguins” or divide students by personal preferences, like “dog or cat” people. Well, first of all, I’d point out how offensive that is to kids who prefer parrots! Hey, if someone prefers pets with colorful plumage, don’t try to impose your outdated canine-feline stereotypes on them! Second, I hate to break this to you, but gender is a biological fact of life. You’re either a boy or a girl. Even if you sincerely believe you’re a girl trapped in the body of a boy, you’re still in the body of a boy. All the politically correct weasel words in the world will not alter the basic reality of anatomy. After getting an earful from parents and a lot of unwanted national ridicule, the Lincoln school superintendent said the gender-neutral terms were just a suggestion, not a policy or a mandate. I’d also like to add: there’s no such thing as a purple penguin. - posted by Mike Huckabee on Facebook
Members 282Mikado Posted October 15, 2014 Members Posted October 15, 2014 Here's the article telling of the school district's instructions on "gendered expressions". http://www.nationalreview.com/article/389862/school-told-call-kids-purple-penguins-because-boys-and-girls-not-inclusive And there are still many out there that think we are crazy for home-schooling our children. I'll tell ya, the more I see, hear and read, the more I believe you're crazy if you don't home-school. This particular quote makes my head want to explode: Furthermore, it instructs teachers to interfere and interrupt if they ever hear a student talking about gender in terms of “boys and girls” so the student can learn that this is wrong. “Point out and inquire when you hear others referencing gender in a binary manner,” it states. “Ask things like . . . ‘What makes you say that? I think of it a little differently.’ Provide counter-narratives that challenge students to think more expansively about their notions of gender.” I would hate for my child to be anywhere near the biology (or any science) class this school has. I wonder if they are similarly concerned with wildlife gender. I can hear little Johnny now: "Teacher, why must I call a male dear a buck and a female deer a doe, when I can't be a boy and Suzie can't be a girl?"
Members John81 Posted October 15, 2014 Members Posted October 15, 2014 Huckabee is also speaking out against the GOP giving support to the openly homosexual GOP congressional candidate in California. He's threatening to leave the GOP over the issue. This open homosexual GOP candidate, Carl DeMaio, sounds like a liberal Dem as he supports "marriage equality", abortion, medical marijuana and possibly recreational marijuana, Leftist views of "climate change", and virtually the whole LGBTQ agenda. This same open homosexual, who is receiving support from GOP House Speaker Boehner who is raising funds for him, is now caught up in sexual harassment and exhibitionism charges involving other men. The Republican Party, while sometimes talking as if they are against the things done in public schools, and as if they are for Christian or family values, have long been walking very differently than the talk. Now their talk is shifting to follow their walk. Republicans are just as much to blame as Democrats for the dismal, degenerate and disgusting mess the public school system has become. They are also in part to blame for the pro-homosexual mess in America which they are more and more openly supporting.
