Fall Of Roman Empire

I had a Sunday school teacher years ago give me a list of the causes for the fall of the Roman empire. I lost it and am wondering if anybody has this list. gphillips

I could day immorality led to Rome's fall but that isn't the case. At least not the main reason IMO.

 

1) Uncontrolled immigration. The Romans allowed the Huns, Germanic tribes and such to immigrate to Rome. These people hated Rome and never totally assimilated. The last Roman emperor in the West was disposed of by a German chieftain who served in the Roman army.

 

2) High taxes. The empire ran out of money.

 

3) War weariness. At the end most of the Roman military was made up of mercenaries and people who were not Roman.

 

4) The citizens became apathetic. "Bread and circuses" is all they thought about.

 

5) The Rise of Islam in the East. The apostates in the East must have thought the kingdom of God was just around the corner, instead they got Islam. The area is still Islamic over 500 years later.
