The Bear and the Athiest

One day, an athiest was walking through the forest thinking to himself how awesome it was how all the different trees and plants and animals had evolved to what they were. Pretty soon he came to a stream and thought how amazing it was that all those fish had started out as single-celled ameoba (sp?) and how that stream had carved out the rock and dirt and clay over billions of years and just then something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye.

It was a bear!! The athiest turned and started to run (of course drawing the attention of the grizzly) and tripped and rolled down the hill stopping next to the stream. When he rolled over, the giant beast pinned him down with one paw and raised the other to strike. At that very moment, the athiest cried out, "Oh, God!"

Everything froze exactly where it was as if time had stopped and the clouds rolled back. A loud voice came down from the heavens saying:

"You mean to tell me that you have spent your entire life telling people that I don't exist and that this world is the result of some giant explosion and that all these living things made themselves and now you want me to save you?"

"Well, that would be a bit hypocritical, I guess;"stated the athiest, "but could you at least make the bear a Christian?"

God pause for a moment and said, "Well, I guess I could do that."

As the athiest sighed in relief, the heavens closed up and things went back to where they were. The bear lowered it's gigantic raised paw and placed it on his other one. Then he bowed his head and prayed this prayer:





"Dear Lord, please bless this meal that I am about to receive."
