"My Times Are In Thy Hand" A Sermon - (No. 2205) Delivered on Lord's-Day Morning, May 17th, 1891, by C. H. SPURGEON, At the Metropolitan Tabernacle, Newington "My times are in thy hand." ?Psalm 31:15. DAVID WAS SAD: his life was spent with grief, and his years with sighing. His sorrow had wasted his strength, and even his bones were consumed within him. Cruel enemies pursued him with malicious craft, even seeking his life. At such a time he used the best resource of grief; for he says in verse 14, "But I trusted in thee, O Lord." He had no other refuge but that which he found in faith in the Lord his God. If enemies slandered him, he did not rend…

Is God Limited By Our Past? My purpose in this study is to exhort God's children to a greater level of trust in the Lord Jesus Christ; but, first, to do that we need to seriously look at where we are now, or may have been. We must look to the Great Physician for His diagnosis, and then put into practice the truths that we find. The cure starts with being honest with ourselves and with the Lord. (See Psalm 51:6.) As we peer intently into the mirror of God's Word, we will clearly discern our reflection, and then be able to clean up any areas of our lives that need it. The question this study seeks to answer is: Is God limited? The immediate response o…

Going Forth With Tears "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:6). "He that goeth forth..." I would to God that every Christian in this church felt that he had a call as from the Christ of God exalted on His throne to go out and tell others of the way of salvation. I wish that the men and women who have here banded themselves together in a sacred confraternity felt every one of them commissioned of God, each one according to his ability, to pluck brands from the burning, to rescue souls from going forth from God with His call upon you that you …

More Than Forgiven! A Study Of The Eight Major Doctrines Which Define New Testament Salvation By Timothy S. Morton -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction The following is a set of eight outlines intended to help a born again Christian better understand his salvation. Many Christians neglect to study the doctrines that define New Testament salvation and miss the rich blessings that understanding them brings. Salvation has many different aspects; no single term or principle can adequately define it. To show believers the extent of what they have in Christ, the Holy Spirit put…

Is Your Armour On? So many Christians are concerned about wearing the armour of God (and rightly so), but there is so much unbiblical nonsense going around that it is rather disturbing. There is some truth and so much error taught in this area that many people will either get caught up in the false teachings and philosophies or avoid the issue altogether. This study will not be dealing with the whole armour (I have already written a separate study on that - The Armour Of God), but will be dealing with one essential part that so many neglect. Ephesians 6:11-13 states: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devi…

Let's see how this works! Ms. Lumi had suggested a type of study where we given some questions and passages, and we can post what we learned from them. Also, list any other Scripture that you feel would directly relate to the topic at hand. But They Would Not Consequences And Missed Blessings What blessings did the nation of Israel miss out on when they would not heed the commandments of God, when they would not follow the Lord? And what were the disastrous consequences? 1) A. Deuteronomy 1:19-40 and 8:1-20 B. Deuteronomy 1:41-46 2) Judges 2:10-23 3) 2 Kings 17:7-23 and 18:11-12 4) Psalm 81:8-16 What is it God's children ar…

Anyone interested in short devotions on the tabernacle? There are so many types illustrated that I could do a short one on each area that people want to know more about. I love studying types, so I have spent a lot of time researching this topic. It wouldn't be too hard to put some short studies together. Let me know (in this thread) what types or pictures you are interested in. For example, I can do a devotion on the sanctifying of the priests for service, how it pictures Christ and the Christian.

Here is one of the studies I posted last year, which I need a reminder of right now. I hope it is a blessing and encouragement to you as well. I Will Trust In Thee The Blessings Of Assurance Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. I have to admit: out of all the books of the Bible, the books of Isaiah and Psalms are the ones I personally keep coming back to over and over, the ones I get the most blessings from. (You will probably notice many references to these two books in my devotionals and studies.) I am continually intrigued by the multitude of re…

This is not a devotion, but a Bible study that might help clarify the issue for some newcomers or searchers. In light of some of the recent posts regarding salvation, I felt it would be good to include a study such as this. Please read all references in the King James Bible. You can use the online Bible provided for you at the bottom of each page of this site, if that is easier for you. Simply type in the references and a new window will open up with the verses. Who Is A Child Of God? For those who believe that everyone is a child of God, this is a study to show you what the Bible has to say on that subject. Please pray about what I am saying and look …

The Rock Of Horeb Water Out Of The Rock - Living Water Exodus 17:1-6 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD? And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle wi…

My Hiding Place Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Thy word. Psalm 119:114 And a Man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. Isaiah 32:2 This last verse was spoken in reference to Jesus Christ during His Millenial reign; however, what will be true of Him then, is also true of Him now: He is our refuge, our covert from the tempest, our hiding place. Is He your hidi…

No Never ? A New Testament Word Study Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5 I was encouraged recently by tracing this word throughout the New Testament, and wanted to share some of the blessings with you. Wherever the same Greek word underlies a word or phrase in each verse, I have underlined it to make it easier to identify. The word we are studying is Strong?s #3364 - ou me, and means ?a double negative strengthening the denial; not at all.? The word is translated various ways in the New Testament: ?any mor…

In Thy Hands Ps 31:15 My times are in Thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. Note: Please understand that my purpose for writing this study is not to rebuke those with a wrong perspective on death, nor to make light of someone's struggle over the death of a loved one; but my purpose is to lessen their struggle and increase their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ by helping to give them the Biblical perspective of the issue. I believe that if we remember what the Lord has said in His Word, then we would not be sorrowful as those without hope. (See 1 Thessalonians 4:13) If you are grieving over the loss of a …

No Man Cared For My Soul I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. Psalm 142:4. This is one of the saddest verses in all of Scripture. There was a point in David's life that he felt no man cared for him. He was left all alone in this world, left all alone to fend for himself. More striking than the fact that no one cared for him, was the fact that no one cared for his soul; no one cared for him spiritually, no one cared where he stood before God, where he was in his walk with the Lord. No man cared for his soul. Our study today starts in John chapter five. It is the s…

Part One on a two-part study on rest: And I Will Give You Rest The Rest Of Salvation To quote a hymn writer: "Are you weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?" What are you doing with your burdens? Are you trying to carry them yourself? Are you weighed down with trying to reach Heaven through your own good deeds and righteousness? Are you oppressed by all the legalistic rules that religious leaders have placed upon you? Matthew 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. These burdens of men are heavy and grievous indeed![…
