On March 27, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian private school in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. Six people were killed as well as the perpetrator. Three children and three staff members were the victims.
The shooter, identified as Audrey Hale, 28, was a former student at the school. She was killed by police officers who responded to the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but police believe that Hale may have been motivated by revenge. Hale may have been angry about being expelled from the school and had been threatening to harm students and staff members.
Hale was under care for an emotional disorder and had legally bought seven firearms locally, police said. She had also drawn detailed maps of the school, including the entry points to the building.

The shooting began at 10:20 a.m. when Hale entered the school through a side door and began firing. She fired multiple shots, killing three children and three adults. Officers arrived on the scene and exchanged gunfire with Hale. She was killed at 10:27 a.m.
