2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.

I know your not saying that, Invicta, but our modern times sure seem to have an elevated level of intensity complare to, let's say, the 70's. Aye?

You are correct PreacherBen, I am not saying that, but there was more war panic and actual war in the 1930s and 40s, before and during 1914-1918, and at the time of Napoleon. 1848 was the "Year of Revolutions" when there were revolutions all over Europe. Spain's revolutionary republican govt lasted until Franco's Catholic troops overthrew it in the late 1930s.

Jesus will come when most are not expecting it.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Matt 24:44 (KJV)

Yes, Jesus will come at a time we "think not," but it surely seems that time is closing in on us, and its so true, many because he has not yet come, feels the promise from Jesus is false.

In the New Testament, it surely seems that Paul, as well as many others along with the early church thought Jesus would come while they yet live. Yet many church going Christians in our day live as if Jesus will never come.

That's a fringhtening prospect, Bro. Jerry. The coming of the end is to spur us to great love of Christ, and personal holiness. I find that the (so called) bible preaching churches of our day are growing further and further from that. In their modern ways and carnality, they are actually exemplifying the falling away more than their (supposed) liberality.

As we consider the fact Christ is returning soon we are to be spurred to pursue personal holiness and to be about the Lord's business with great passion and expectation.

Instead, there are many who focus upon looking for signs of the end coming while neglecting to be do what any signs are meant to call us to.

As I've heard it put, we should consider what we would change and how we would be if we knew Jesus were returning this very day. Then we should make those changes and be that way each and every day because one day we will indeed be with Jesus; either because we have passed from this life or because Christ has returned for us.

Yes, but how many Christians are involved in things of this world with no thought about the souls who will be left behind and are spend eternity in the lake of fire when in fact we are to expect Jesus' return at any moment. If we really expected His return at any moment our attitude, what is really important, would change drastically.

Because God has put off Jesus' return for so long most Christians spend much more time building up bank account for quality of living now and during retirement than they spend doing the work that Jesus has saved them to do.

1Jo 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jo 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

In the Brethren, at most Sunday evening Gospel Services, they ended with something like "The Lord may come tonight, will you be ready?" Most in this area are now closed, or on their last legs or have gone charismatic.

If the "Lord may come tonight, will I be ready?" I must to. Every person must be ready for everything.
