Members irishman
Must Mountain (Or, ?When ?Maybe? Turns to ?Must??) In four different styles. l I walked through the valley of ?Maybe?, And waded the swamp of despair; Looked for the hope of the lily, But found that it was not there! I fell in the pot-hole of depression, And forded the creek of doubt; Ploughed through the jungle of Sorrow, Looking for the elusive way out! I was lost in the Wilderness of frustration, Circling round and round, Ignoring the map I had with me, Heeding no vision nor sound; ll A mountain loomed mightily before me, But too tired to make the great climb, I camped at the base in a woeful place, Amid an oasis of slime! Up the mountain I began to go, A mountain of hope it became; The way grew more pleasant, And the beauty resplendent, I gave the great mountain a name. The ?Mountain of Must? I thought it to be, While the valley of Maybe I see, I will climb all the way to the top, And will dwell where I need to be, And there will I finally stop. lll The ?mountain of must?, A mountain of dust; This is its hopeful name; But climb her I must, I must climb her or ?bust?, Lest I die in my shame. So climb her I will, That terrible steep hill, Though the way may be jagged and rough; I chase the thrill Of this monstrous hill, That should be adventurous enough. By the grace of God, Upward I trod, And determined not to look back; Slowly I plod On Holy sod, And my God supplies what I lack. lV The ?Valley of Maybe? I left far behind; With all her confusion and doubt; It?s upward I go, So onward I tread, Reaching new heights with a shout! The valleys are fewer, And the way is smoother, As I have begun a new route. Ever on, I upward climb The new-found narrow way, And discover what life is about! Members Jerry
Just adding a comment to bring it to the front page for others to read. Some of the old formatting/punctuation (the ?'s) in the first part make it a little hard to read, but for an old poem/post, it's worth reading.
