I'm sure you know those are not zeros and ones -- they are open and closed circuits (via switching).  Soooo, technically 00000 (all open circuit) would still result in zero power from source arriving at user point (may not be good programing, but still sounds like zero to me).

 

 Not a geek - just an electrician.

 

Oh yeah -- this 0 is a zero.
