John81 I think it has always been customary for Generals to pray before battles. I used to do Civil War reenactments and that was a part of the battlefield scenarios. (3rd Mississippi Infantry CSA - I wasn't a soldier I was a camp follower/seamstress)

For Christian generals yes, for others, sadly, no.

As well, some Christian generals were more open and public with their faith than others.

Some of the most moving services are at the Civil War memorials - if you have never had the pleasure of attending one you should go.

Do you know if "Re-enactors for Jesus Christ" are still around? I used to donate some to them many years ago. I still have a nice coffee mug with their logo on it and a quote from General Lee about trusting Christ on it.
