Guest Guest
Is there a reason we have midweek (Wed.) service instead of another day say Tuesday? Are you in sin if you cann't attend Wed. night service? Pixiedust
Members Marcus2Israel
I'd like church every day like in the 1st century... But that wont happen. Anyway, I don't believe not attending because you cant is a sin. Some people have forgot what the word "forsake" means though. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25 For full context: Hebrews 10: 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Forsake in the Greek essentially means " to desert:" and the English definition from Webster's 1828 is: "1. To quit or leave entirely; to desert; to abandon; to depart from. Friends and flatterers forsake us in adversity. Forsake the foolish, and live. Prov. 9. 2. To abandon; to renounce; to reject. If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments - Ps. 89. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Ps. 37. 3. To leave; to withdraw from; to fail. In anger, the color forsakes the cheeks. In severe trials, let not fortitude forsake you. 4. In scripture, God forsakes his people, when he withdraws his aid, or the light of his countenance."
Guest Guest
If there for every service possible than your not forsaking. Am I understanding correctly?
Members John81
No, Wednesday church services are not mandatory. Some churches hold them because it's the midweek point; a chance to hold church services more than just once a week, leaving only a few days rather than 6 between services. While such are fine and can be great, it's not a requirement and it's not a sin to miss Wednesday services. The point of attending church is to be edified in Christ, to fellowship with other believers, not to fulfill a man-made command that "thou must attend church every time the doors are open". Of course, there is nothing wrong with attending church every time the doors are open if that's what the Lord leads one to do, but it's not a command from God. Guest Guest
Would it be improper to attend a evening service at another Baptist church if it's on a night you can go? Same thing about a Bible study for ladies if there isn't one at your church? Of course asuming hubby said ok to all of above! pixiedust
