A Peculiar People

1 Peter 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1 Peter 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1 Peter 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

I did not vote for Obama. I pray for him to make God honoring decisions and to protect our nation; I will now pray to prevent him from making un-Godly decisions. I?ve never heard anyone say Mr. Obama lacked savvy in dealing out a liberal preference. President Obama delayed signing the order to permit funding for family planning (abortion) until after the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the Right to Life march. ?President Obama signed an executive order ending the ban on federal funding for international groups that promote or perform abortions. It is an important move by the new president that sets a different tone.? However, I now see a scalpel being skillfully maneuvered into the flesh of this nation. Slicing ever so thinly at first; I fear these cuts, will not cause the nation much blood loss. Over the course of time, a short time I imagine, we will continue to see the flesh removed from a living and breathing U.S.A. The life blood of this nation will appear as droplets at first, and Americans will consent and submit.

Step 1: Make the funding available for abortions.
Step 2: Nationalize healthcare.
Step 3: Include abortion under the healthcare umbrella.
Step 4: Require healthcare professionals to perform abortions.

This is for abortion; I expect there will be other process steps for national bankruptcy, same sex marriage, pornography, and finally Christian and Biblical practice outlawed as hate speech.

I would prefer the scalpel cut deep and raise the righteous indignation of a nation in the throes of decline and eventual passing. The capacity for liberality has reached the limit of allowance. Advantage is taken to the epitome of all that is self indulgent. No one mentions the fact of great liberty requiring even greater responsibility. The appearance of invoking God?s blessing, to sustain this blot, is an offering to appease Christ?s people. Appeasement has become the acceptable payment to any voice of opposition where Godless decisions are made. However, God is holy and will not accept tongue in cheek reverence. There is no savor in offerings given with the expectation of a more liberal application of depravity.

I expect it will be much too late, when the full depth of flesh is removed and our nation?s heart exposed. I can?t say the final thrust will be from Obama but, the recent decision for abortion and more promised or proposed will enable further and future abstinence from God. and acquiescence by Christians.

I can?t imagine anything less than God?s righteous judgment on America. I envision that fatal stab, heart pierced, the world?s shock and horror, as the life blood pours from the body of our nation. Christians have the opportunity to change this event. The unjust have no vision or knowledge of what is required or for that matter that anything is wrong. If you were to ask someone if they think America is doomed, what response would you get back? The average citizen ?their foolish heart was darkened,? can never see beyond self and their hope to continue and expand upon self indulgence.

If we want change in the USA?s outcome then Christians must get up and move. Yes, we can rest on knowing the final outcome is assured; or, we can obey all the Word and go forth proclaiming God?s grace and the Lord Jesus Christ. The word OCCUPY in Luke 19:13 is an action word. Here are two commentaries on this scripture:

"negotiate," "do business," with the resources entrusted. (Jamieson, Fausset, Brown)

Or, as it might much better be translated, trade till I come, Pragmateusasthe ? be busy. So the word properly signifies. "You are sent forth to preach the gospel, to set up a church for Christ in the world, to bring the nations to the obedience of faith, and to build them up in it (Matthew Henry Complete).

Are you negotiating and doing business to turn this nation back to ??worship the Father in spirit and in truth??? Do people know you and I as a peculiar people?

This is a call that fewer are truly preaching today but that has been preached enough that most Christians pay it no heed.

American Christianity is comfortable and wants to remain comfortable.

While early Christians were willing to risk their lives to openly live for Christ and spread the Gospel, most American Christians are unwilling to even risk being called a name, let alone risk becoming unpopular or anything even worse.

Indeed, any hope for America resides in Christians truly submitting to Christ, growing in holiness, letting the world see Christ in them and praying for lost souls, praying for America, supporting those Christians, pastors and organizations who do preach the Gospel and be about doing the work the Lord has for us personally to do.

That's true. People are more afraid to "offend" someone by speaking the Gospel than they are about trying to get money from them.

If you take the money, what exactly are you saying?
Could this mean, hypothetically:
1. A Baptist Church agrees to participate and receives funds.
2. An avowed and open homosexual applies for an administrator position in one of their funded outreaches.
3. The church says, "We're unable to place you in a position of authority within our church. We would gladly explain our position based on scriptures and envite you to attend our services."
4. The homosexual sues the church on charges of discrimination and wins.
5. The church is literally branded a hate monger in the liberal press.
6. They either reject the Bible principle or loose funding and possibly a lot of the church's building fund...if not the entire building.

Churches should very much remember they are not to be unequally yoked.

The government is ungodly, even anti-Christian, and that's something no Christian church or organization should yoke with.

Too many churches are willing to sacrifice their ability to truly follow the Word of God for the sake of money.

but my hubby got saved through Amway.. seriously. They talked alot about God and faith as well as their business. At first, he was quite annoyed by it because he was an atheist, and was raised to be one from his parents too.

The sanctity of God given life with its ability to be transformed from sinner to saint is what is under attack. Satan cannot give life as God does and so, he will attempt to imitate God. Thus doing, Satan attempts to lesson the sinner?s already weak condition through further apathy toward life (God?s creation). Satan wants men to worship him and no doubt, through this sneak attack, he will tighten his grasp on many.

Obama and any who would back this subtle advance against God?s creation are the knowing and some unknowing minions of Satan, his tools. The Obamas and those who support these ungodly decisions and laws have been fooled.

Completely agree! We cann't even get Christians to give out tracts and go door-to-door. Pray we wake-up soon--really soon--were in trouble by the fox in the hen house--completely unaware and not afraid. I pray that eye's are open to the threat and don't recieve any government money. So many people just do not have, and do not seek, a close, personal relationship with our Savior. They are Christians by name only, not by actions, just to follow the crowd. :sad We need to pray for our country and our neighbors. So many lost people and so many people who just blatantly do not care about the Lord or morals in general.

How far from the Lord we have fallen since the time of Christ. It's really quite sad, isn't it?
