I've played the violin for 15 years and I play in a symphony orchestra. I also play viola.
I guess I can play the guitar but b/c I haven't played it for years and years, it just kinda came to me, it feels funny saying I play guitar. I'm almost through battling my way to a music degree. Yay!!!!!!

I play Piano' date=' Baritone Horn and the Guitar (psst....I sometimes even plug in my guitar to an amplifier and play it LOUD!)........[/quote']
I tired playing my acoustic with distortion before. It doesn't work as well as an electric, but it was kind of interesting. (Distortion doesn't have to be the harsh heavy metal type, btw. You can make pleasant sounds with a little distortion as well.)

I only have a Dean Performer E (Acoustic-Electric). I sold all the rest of my guitars to buy it. It's pretty sweet for a guitar under $300, sounds and plays better than a lot of Ibanez (and some other brands) $400+ guitars I've tried. I'd like to get a Gibson electric and Dean Espana classical, but the ones I want are around $600 and I can't afford that right now.

Understood, good instruments are pricey....but they are worth the saving up and waiting for.......I did the Squiers and Epiphones and such......they did me well, the big difference between the little and big brothers is the electronics for the most part.

I'm at a point in my life that the children are grown, married, having their own families and I have a bit of "extra capital" that I could put into my guitars. I didn't buy new, but I did watch and wait and when the right used deal came along; bam.............I bought it...........

Remember, do not go beyond your means and just enjoy what God does allow you to have!
