Please pray for me. I need fervent prayer. I have some issues with porn, and I dip skoal, and many things that I am not right with the Lord. I don't read my bible, my testimony at work is non-existant, I don't pray, I lie to my wife about things I am supposed to be taking care of for us. I am a hypocrite. I get on my in-laws case for being church leaders and drinking almost every night and I am commiting adultry by watching porn. I don't know why I am doing this but the Lord put this on my heart to tell all of my brothers and sisters and ask them to pray for me. I have no good christian friends all of my friends are liberal christians who think everything is ok. One foot in the world one in heaven. Just pray for me please. My name is Jeremy. Thank you.

I will pray for you Jeremy. I understand that this is something you wouldn't talk to just anyone about (It's quite different sharing on the internet with people you never see than talking to someone face to face.), but I would encourage you to try to find a mature christian man that you can confide in and be accountable to. You said you have not been reading your Bible. I'm sure you realize that in order to have victory you must get into the Word. Do you have a concordance? I would encourage you to look up passages on the flesh, lust, and walking in Christ and commit them to memory. Don't give up, brother. You may feel very weak right now, but "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (IJohn 4:4). If you don't feed on God's Word regularly, you are starving yourself spiritually and won't have the strength to resist temptations.
I will put you on my prayer list and pray for you often.

Go to Amazon.com and order "Every Man's Battle" and "Every Man's Marriage". Two excellent books...the "battle" one specifically will help you retrain your mind away from impure thoughts and habits and towards God and right...and the marriage one will continue in helping your marriage.

Admitting a problem is the first step... will pray.

Clearly, the less we are exposed to temptation (whatever it is that tempts us personally), the less likely we are to succumb to it. But nobody is perfect even so. People commit far more sin than they are aware (out of ignorance on a number of levels). Therefore keeping up a steady prayer life with the Lord is very important, wherein we confess our sins on at least a daily basis (and thus receive forgiveness for them all, even those we may not have realised we committed or forgot about: 1 Jn.1:9). We are indeed to pursue sanctification, but we are also to pursue spiritual growth. We can't dwell on the former nor ignore the issue entirely for the sake of the latter. "Confess and move on" is a very good rule of thumb for whatever we have done that is wrong, making it a habit to try and avoid the circumstances and behaviors that led us into danger in the first place.

Love,
Madeline
