Cleansed by His Blood

Came across a little old white church one lonely night,
I was hopeless and in despair,
I just wanted my life to be right,
I just wanted to feel like someone cared.

Walked in about a half hour after eleven
And the preacher was preaching about a man who suffered on a Cross.
I sat there and pondered, if I would go to Heaven,
Or would I be eternally lost.

It was all new to me, for I never had believed,
But something came knocking at my hearts door.
I knew that this man He was talking about, I needed to receive,
I just didn?t know what to do anymore.

Another fifteen minutes passed by,
And the invitation song began to play.
I thought I was about to die,
The preacher said just come down here and accept Him and pray.

I was sitting on the back pew,
Hands as sweaty as can be,
I didn?t know what to do,
I just didn?t want to burn in hell for eternity.

I stepped out as I heard the Lord calling my name,
Made my way to the alter and started to pray,
I had done so much wrong, and I am so ashamed,
But Jesus saved me that very moment of that day.

No more to be what I used to be,
No more to a lifestyle of wickedness in sin,
I had met a man who died for me on Calvary,
Who gave me eternal peace within.

I am now a Child of the King, and eternally saved,
I have a new life and a new start!
No more to go to a fiery grave,
I am washed by the Blood of the Lamb, and I have Jesus in my heart!
