When I sing hymns I really listen to and acknowledge the words and what they are saying like all week I have been singing Id rather have Jesus I just think hymns tell it all and so does the music you listen to it shows what kind of person you are inside and out what do other people think about this? I am going to add the words to my new favorite hymn



1. I?d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I?d rather be His than have riches untold;
I?d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I?d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
* Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain,
Or be held in sin?s dread sway;
I?d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
2. I?d rather have Jesus than men?s applause;
I?d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I?d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I?d rather be true to His holy name
3. He?s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He?s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He?s all that my hungering spirit needs;
I?d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

It is amazing the effect music has on us spiritually, emotionally and even physically. It behooves us then, to be very careful of the music we put into us.

True so true. The music should fit the lyrics. I never could understand Christian "Rock" or Christian "Hip Hop". Take the lyrics out and watch the people do. Are they getting in the flesh? Then that music doesn't belong in Christian anything.

Christian rap and Christian rock usually sound secular anyway and does it not say "Be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" Is it really Christian if it sounds like the world?

I think hymns go deeper then any other music I mean has anyone ever actually read hymns? Have you let them convict the heart. Most hymns can be found in the bible...
