Members kevinmiller
lol, you start some interesting topics Maxmya. I do, however, greatly enjoy Handel's Messiah. We saw it at the Kennedy Center a couple days before Christmas two years ago with some friends. Had a limo pick us up after dinner and everything. It was an incredible evening. :thumb
Members LindaR
Handel's Messiah is awesome. We purchased a 3-CD set (two of the CDs were Handel's Messiah, and the third CD was Christmas hymns/carols) at Wally World for about $14. It was a Thomas Kincaide collection and the CD case was in a tin with Thomas Kincaide art.
Members dadof4
My high school choir director had us sing quite a few selections from Handel's Messiah. We took first place every year in state competiton and we always did at least one song from the Messiah.

Members Bakershalfdozen
Listen to The Messiah on a regular basis, performed by the London Philharmonic. My faves are "Surely", "Worthy Is the Lamb" and the "Amen" chorus.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted March 14, 2008 Administrators Share Posted March 14, 2008 I love it - have the chorus on tape, but would like to get the entire thing sometime.

Guest Guest
It is too repetitive for me, especially that "Hallelujah Chorus"...wait, are we discussing CCM?
Members SweetCharity
I love Handel's Messiah! We sang it every year for a special concert during high school and we sold out all three performances each time. By far my favorite thing we ever sang. Moderators Salyan Posted June 10, 2008 Moderators Share Posted June 10, 2008 I really enjoy that music. A couple of my friends, though, insist on referring to 'The Messiah' as opera... :verymad:

Guest Guest
LOL - so I'm safe in assuming, then, that the church in 1741 would have refused that contemporary work, and required me to listen to music written in 1541? :frog
