Assumption Of Mary

Let's tackle these one by one.

Assumption of Mary into Heaven.

Assumption: Mary was assumed into heaven by the power of God, she did not ascend into heaven by her own power and will, as Christ did. Assumption is supported by Scipture: Matthew 27:52?53: "[T]he tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many." Refer to Luke 16:22, 23:43; Heb. 11:1?40; 1 Pet. 4:6 for a further support of bodies being assumed.

There are Bible passages that show that Elijah and Enoch were taken up into Heaven w/o dying.

Show us a Bible passage that shows that Mary was taken up into Heaven w/o dying.

Regarding the verses given:

Mt. 27:51-53 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Why is it assumed that this is referring to Heaven? Every other reference to the "holy city" in the Bible is referring to Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 11:1 And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

Nehemiah 11:18 All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four.

Isaiah 48:2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

Matthew 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Revelation 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

In two other places, the "holy city" is referring to the New Jerusalem that is coming down out of Heaven; it is not called Heaven itself.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

A good verse to show that angels attend believers at their death but not a good verse to show assumption into Heaven.

Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

The thief believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and was saved. He went to Heaven when he died - just like all true believers.

Hebrews 11:1-40 - The chapter that tells us of a myriad of believers who had faith in God and wrought many wonderful works for God. Nowhere does it say that any of them were "assumed" into Heaven except for Enoch.

1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

How does that passage show "assumption"??? :puzzled:
