Charismatic calvinists

I wouldn't call all in the aforementioned title a cult.. but from what I've encountered it's some of the most aggressive Christian's I know.

Not only are they saying that someone has been prechosen for eternal life , but this person WILL do good works, will speak in tongues, WILL cast out demons etc..

So if you aren't charismatic or continuously doing good works.. they will say never saved.

Its loading all sorts of other things onto receiving eternal life as requirements to 'prove' you got it.

And, to them I would say that the Bible says that tongues are given as a sign, not for the believer but for the unbeliever. Charismatics always seem to hate the verse that contains this. They also hate the one where Paul says he would rather speak in a known tongue and edify the body rather than speak thousands of words in an unknown tongue. I have too many relatives in the Charismatic and Assembly movement, and they never question my beliefs on tongues because they don't want to talk about the Bible in depth.

God's Word indicates that even in the first century He never gave the gift of tongues to everyone - so for those who believe it is a sign of salvation, they are missing the boat (especially when you consider that the "gift of tongues" they are using is not the same as the gift of tongues as found in the Bible (especially the book of Acts and 1 Corinthians 12-14).

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

1 Corinthians 12:28-31 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

I always heard the "unknown tongue" was a language from another nation, not what the charismatics make it out to be. The one scripture they point to more frequently is 1 Corinthians 13:1 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." and Paul is speaking of himself in this instance not of the church's ability. I've never been able to understand how they can base a doctrine on 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 and the Apostles in Acts.

Yea I get that 1 Corinthians 13 alone isn't enough to support cessationism, but when you look closely at the early churches and the book of Acts with the process of Gods revelation it becomes obvious the sign gifts at least are not needed anymore.

Havent been on for years, but have been studying with Jews for Jesus weekly Bible Study which has been wonderful.  Not sure any of your views on that group, but if you are from a Jewish background a great place to be grounded in the word and to learn.

I am a researcher and writer at Watch Unto Prayer which I started 25 years ago. On this website there are many well-documented articles and audio programs by myself and other researchers whose ministry is to expose the endtime apostasy of the Church. Now more than ever Christians need information in order to identify and avoid the various deceptions that are in nearly all the churches.
My husband and I attended the IFB Bible Baptist Church of James Knox a couple of years ago. We left the church after we were informed by the assistant pastor that we were not allowed to express views to other members that do not agree with the views of the pastor and leaders of the church. We were not introducing heresy but expressing our views concerning the State of Israel. We had never been in a church which forbade private conversations on issues where there are diverse opinions. This we recognized as cultlike control of church members. To inform Christians, my husband, who is also a researcher and writer, started a website on the subject: Zionism Exposed: A Watchman Ministry.

Brother Tony, I read your reply on Anderson, I know you all think I'm argumentative but, when you don't agree.....the first thought I had is, I wish you would introduce me to the guy that hasn't sinned, maybe David, that had a man killed so he could commit adultery, yet, he was & is a man after Gods own heart, or maybe Paul the guy that persecuted and had Christians killed, or maybe Richg or Kent H, or even you ! I used to listen to personalities also when I was younger but today and for some time, my only concern is, does it line up with scripture & to me its hilarious that you think "I'm in a fix" LOL, I interpreted what we've discussed perfectly, not because I'm smart, but because with an open mind to things of God, its an easy read.
