Moderators Salyan Posted November 23, 2022 Moderators Share Posted November 23, 2022 While we're resurrecting old topics, I am flabbergasted to read the article above comparing canoe usage to so-called colonialism. The indigenous peoples of Canada literally invented the Canadian canoe (as the Brits call it), and did so without any help at all from (and, indeed, pre-dating) colonists. Guess one shouldn't practice bow hunting, or indeed any hunting, fishing or gardening of non-European species cause the indigenous folks did that first too.... Members heartstrings
Yes, Pre Columbian people used dugout canoes down here in my neck of the woods. African slaves invented the banjo, and I love playing mine. Indigenous Amercians also cultivated corn, beans, and squash long before Europeans came here. But I enjoy growing and eating them all.
