J. D. Greear

One thing that I can say that J. D. Greear is correct on. The sad part is that he hasn't been practicing what he preaches, which was proven during this last SBC Convention in Nashville.

God's Humor.  Famous Scripture Quotes from Alpha to Omega,  Beginning to End (of time et al)

"Psalm 2:1-6

King James Version

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion."

"Psalm 37:12-13

King James Version

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming."

"Psalm 59:7-8

King James Version

7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision."

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
― Issac Asimov

“When a person uses his or her position of power from a church, corporation, or government to throw disgust upon a person for holding a different perspective, the person with the position of power is using lust as a mindset to gain control over the masses. Superior-Disgust-Lust is a complex and it's a method by which individuals steal from other human beings.”

The dictator, whether he be a political or a religious one, must be able to distribute little favors to the faithful, and these he always manages to have at hand. These favors are like the fish tossed to the performing seal, or like the salt lick of early American days placed near the shooting blind to entice the wary deer within range. ~ A. W. Tozer

The sinfulness of intellectualism was once known as idolatry or witchcraft.   It runs on what is falsely called knowledge.

"Concerning this system there are two things to be emphasized.

First, since the day when Adam opened the door for evil to enter God's creation, the world order has shown itself to be hostile to God.

"The whole world," John says, "lieth in the evil one" (5:19)."  (it is wholly deceived by pharmacy)

In a city that housed a library that was famous for its 700,000 scrolls, we can see that intellectualism was more important to the apostate Jews of this city than true Biblical spirituality. (2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.)

Spirituality in Christ is indeed, in truth, according to the Bible,  rare in the world.

Intellectualism is quite common and welcome and used by the enemy,  as people are puffed up and deceived in their own delusions as God Causes them to be delivered to believe their own delusions because they rejected Him and would not turn to His Way.

“Self-actualization is what educated existence is all about. For members of the educated class, life is one long graduate school. When they die, God meets them at the gates of heaven, totes up how many fields of self-expression they have mastered, and then hands them a divine diploma and lets them in.”

True also,  politics does not look like God the Father.   Politics serves greed, corruption, and is death dealing.

The educated suffer believing lies, The wisdom and knowledge of this world, this world of politics and medicine and science that rejects Him,  is repugnant to God the Father.

The more educated someone gets,  the less possible they will ever see the Kingdom of God/ Heaven.

as Jesus Prayed:

"Matthew 11:25-30

King James Version

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because

thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, ("educated ones")

and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight."

Brother Lawrence never finding salvation ...

"As a result, medieval Catholic writers such as Brother Lawrence are looked to  ...

Lawrence, however great his personal sacrifice,

missed the basics of the Gospel, not realizing that it was Christ's full and complete sacrifice that paid for our sins.

As a Roman Catholic, to his death he retained the false idea ..."
