Administrators Pastor Matt Posted July 14, 2018 Administrators Share Posted July 14, 2018 We are looking to start live streaming a few of our church services. If any of you currently do live stream, can you post me links to cameras and/or software that you use and recommend? Thank you.
Members DaveW
We don't livestream but I do video and secure post for a family that moved remote where there is no acceptable church. We use this: Logitec 922 webcam It is a webcam rather than a full video system. We have found that the sound is only OK for our purposes but it wasn't designed for this. The software allows for a separate microphone to be used, so we use a radio lapel mic. It is capable of livestream stuff, but I don't know how it does with it. The only other thing is we have mounted it hanging from the ceiling about the middle of the room - 5m away from the pulpit. The video is great from there. We originally mounted it on the back wall about 10m away - it was acceptable but right at its limit. So something like this might be an option - a webcam is cheaper than a video system. Over here the cheapest video cam that was near to useful was above $400 - this webcam cost us less than $150.
Members John Young
We don't live stream but we do upload and post the sermons because our space does not have internet. We use a Cannon Vixia HF R62. It has a 52x optical zoom and a aux audio input that can be plugged into your sound system if needed and a hmdi plug for the computer live stream feed and a slot for an SD card for manual uploads. The camera can be bought online referbished for around $160. The newer models go for around $250 but are basically the same. The cheapest and easiest is just to have a good cellphone in the front row directly streaming with the Facebook or Youtube but for quality sound and video the camera will work in the sound booth connected to a video processing box (it takes the HD processing load off of your computer) that is then connected to a quality computer connected to the live stream. Members John Young
Here is a good Youtube video of a quality live stream tutorial showing all the components for a church set up with the sound system. Both the cell stream and camera computer setups are shown.
