Members Doc Flay
...only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 2Thess.2:7b I took this verse of scripture out of context on purpose in order to examine it, and to get a better understand who this verse is speaking of. The entire chapter seems to be focused mainly on events surrounding the anti-Christ: But this verse seems to be speaking of someone else altogether. "he who now letteth" doesn't seem to be the anti-Christ at all, but someone entirely different, because the next verse says "then shall that wicked be revealed" My conclusion in v.7 is that the one "who now letteth" is perhaps the Spirit of God, but I can't be absolute of that conclusion, I am only speculating at best. Members Alan
I have come to the same conclusion. The Holy Spirit resides in the heart of every believer in the church age. Even as we speak, the mystery of iniquity is working among the false religions of the world, the false prophets and false teachers among the churches (and all over the internet!), and in the heart of the wicked unbelievers. Once the Lord Jesus returns in the clouds as Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, the Holy Spirit will be taken away, "And then shall that Wicked be revealed." 2 Thessalonians 2:8 The anti-Christ will be revealed; Revelation 6:1 The Lord Jesus will destroy the Wicked one when He returns on the earth as portrayed in Revelation 19:11-21 The Holy Spirit, in the lives of all the believers, hinder the anti-Christ from being revealed. Members Eric Stahl
John 16:7-11 teachs us that the comforter will reprove the world of sin and righteousness and judgment after he is in us. He that letteth is the Holy Spirit who is holding back the mystery of iniquity. When the Holy Spirit is taken away we will be taken away since he will never leave us nor forsake us. After the rapture God will judge everyone that heard the truth of the gospel and rejected Jesus , by causing them to believe the lie of the antichrist. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12. America will believe the lie of the antichrist after the rapture. All the other "Christian nations" will also follow the antichrist too. Members Alan
The word "let" has many definitions, among the older definitions, in usage in the 1600's, was the word "let." The fifth definition, with an important note in the bracket at the end of the definition, for "let" in the Noah Webster Dictionary of 1828 defines "let"as: "Definition # 5. To retard; to hinder; to impede; to interpose obstructions. 2 Thess. 2. [This sense is now obsolete, or nearly so.]" The King James Version of the word "let" is correct, proper, and is the exact word that should be used in this instance. The Holy Spirit, in the hearts of the believers during the church age; retards, hinders, impedes, and has interposed obstructions, in preventing the anti-Christ from being revealed until He, the Holy Spirit, is taken out of the world in the coming of the Lord Jesus for the church as recorded by Paul in 1 Thessalonians.4:13-18 The anti-Christ is revealed to the world in Revelation 6:1. Therefore, as the saints in the church age are taken out before the Wicked one, the anti-Christ, is revealed, it is obvious that the church will not go through any part of the 7 Year Tribulation Period. Her Britanic Majesty's Secretary of State Requests and requires in the Name of Her Majesty all those to whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary. So Let is still in use in that sense, even though its use may be limited. Edited September 13, 2017 by Invicta Alan
