A prayer

My wife wrote this poem for a member of our church, because of her kindness and ability to recognize a fellow sister's pain.

A Prayer
I cried a single tear today
Praying that someone
Would see it,
And wipe my tear away.

I cried only a single tear
Because just then
I saw that you were there

You told me that you
Had been praying
And thinking about me
all day.
You gave me hope
Of seeing my mother again
Easing her through the pain.
And said that you knew
it wasn?t much
But it was all that you could do
Well, let me tell you now
Thanks for being so true.

If all I can ever do in Christ
Is wipe a fellow sister?s face
Then I ask you now to show me
Where you?ve found such grace

Because
Your prayer alone
Wiped my tear away
And your friendship
I will now
Gratefully embrace.
