Members heartstrings
Which is why this topic is pointless. Why would it be pointless, John? One teaching turns the Word of God into mythology. It would make a fantastic Sci Fi movie for sure, but that's about all it's worth.  Genesis 6 is a continuation of Genesis 5.  Genesis 5 28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed. Lamech was a believer 30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.  That's what Genesis 6:1-4 is talking about....... Moderators Ukulelemike Posted March 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2014 The Bible never says that Melchizedek/Melchisedec was a High Priest. Itonly identifies him as a Priest. True, but since he was a picture of Christ, who is THE great High Priest, and Melchezidek obviously had authority that Abraham recognized, it would make sense that he was a high priest. Â But you are correct, it only refers to him as a priest-but unless he just declared himself a priest, it means there would have been a priesthood, so more priests and believers.(though granted, it DOES say he was THE priest..., so maybe he was the only one.) Â Actually I had never noticed, nor presented the one, in my last post, before. The Bible doesn't say they produced giants, just mighty men of old, men of renown-that doesn't mean giants. There have been lots of mighty men who weren't giants: Gengis Khan, Napoleon, Alexander the Great-all mighty men, men of renown, but none of them giants. Members DaveW
If the sons of God were humans they would not have produced giants for children. How would you classify Goliath? Nowhere is the biblical suggestion of "Jack and the beanstalk" type giants? And the Biblically determined and scientifically demonstrable FACT of reproduction after their kind, precludes the possibility of cross species breeding. The giants spoken of were just taller than average. Tallest man in the world today is currently visiting Australia - half as tall again as an average man

WOO!  (I had a picture of Steve Irwin with this, but after a moment of consideration, I decided it looked unintendedly inappropriate. But read it in his voice, anyways.) Members beameup
The Holy Spirit specifically uses the Hebrew bene ha 'Elohim and bath 'adam. It is no "mistake" that the Holy Spirit used specific terms, juxtaposing "sons of god" with "daughters of mankind". Spin it anyway you want, but the Word of God could not be more clear in the meaning of the text.  It's pretty scary to consider that angels might not be all that "different" from man, except that man is limited to 4 dimensions - height, width, depth & time... at least while alive "on the earth".  The King James translators consulted the Septuagint for the meaning of the Hebrew "nephilim". The Greek "gigantes" actually has its etymology in "earth bound". The offspring of the angels and human women produced offspring that were bound to the earth... the 4 dimensions.  This is why many believe that the demons are actually the disembodied spirits of the hybrids.  BTW, the Greek "myths" are based on the pre-flood world.
