Moderators Ukulelemike Posted February 13, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 13, 2014 I'll get more into this later, but read the the text again in Deut 14:26, it says we can buy the things we lust(crave), then says that we shall eat it and rejoice, how much clearer can it be? Nobody has shown me yet where God has given the Jews a blessing and called it sin for the NT church. With other blessings, food and sex us something's we can abuse. With food we can become gluttons and not be charitable with it, with sex, we can be unfaithful with our spouses, look at pornography, lust after other woman, etc. these(food and sex) are blessings from God Do you keep the Sabbath? The Lord called it a blessing for Israel. he also called the keeping of the whole law a blessing. Do you keep the whole law? The event you keep quoting was a clear aspect of the law, one of the tithes, actually. Do you keep the other tithes?  The point I make is, you want to pick and choose which aspects of the OT laws you want to keep, because they agree with your sensibilities, while rejecting the rest. You say I am legalistic when I mention that the priests and Levites were commanded to abstain from wine and strong drink while in the work of the ministry, and as such, being a NT priesthood told to be instant in season and out of season, always ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us, and as such, we should take the same warning to heart as the priests. They were forbidden in because it perverts judgment, but you say it won't. Solomon told his son that kings and princes should abstain from wione and strong drink because it perverts judgment, but you insist it won't. MInd you, it wasn't MUCH wine and strong drink that perverts judgment, just wine and strong drink, period. But it won't yours. Priests, kings and princes, yes, Jeffery, no. So this can't possibly apply to us! Yet you will use an aspect of one of the tithes of the OT law and apply it to yourself.  Perhaps you should not contradict yourself.  If it was a blessing to Israel, it was because He gave it to them., I see nowehre in the NT where the Lord tells US to seek after whatever our souls lust for. IN fact, we are told:  "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (Rom 13:12-14) (the word for "lust" here is craving or desire, just like the verse you like to give, by the way.)  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (1Cor 9:25-27)  So shall we fulfill our desires and cravings/lust as believers, or make no provision for them? Shall we cater to our bodies, or keep them under subjection?

Members AVBibleBeliever
Or you should not judge that brother, Romans 14:3 So are you saying because I am offended, weakened at your drinking alcoholic beverages I am judging you? Â Are you saying that if I did pass a judgment on your drinking alcoholic beverages that it gives you the right to continue drinking alcoholic beverages and continue to offend and weaken me? Â Does verse 3 of Roms 14 trump verse 21?

Members Jeffrey
Do you keep the Sabbath? Dont have to, Jesus fulfilled it The Lord called it a blessing for Israel. He also blesses the NT church with it, I have posted many verses, you just have chose to ignore them or strangle them to make them say something else he also called the keeping of the whole law a blessing. Do you keep the whole law? The event you keep quoting was a clear aspect of the law, one of the tithes, actually. Once they were done, they were allowed to drinklThey were forbidden in because it perverts judgment, but you say it won't. Yet you will use an aspect of one of the tithes of the OT law and apply it to yourself.  Perhaps you should not contradict yourself. No, since our High Priest drank and supplied a wedding party with wine, I think were ok matter of fact, Paul warns Timothy about people who try and force others to abstain 1 Tim 4:Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.Thayer Greek lexicon defines meat as meat and drink  If it was a blessing to Israel, it was because He gave it to them., I see nowehre in the NT where the Lord tells US to seek after whatever our souls lust for. IN fact, we are told:  "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Shall we cater to our bodies, or keep them under subjection? see above  Mark 7:14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear

Members Jeffrey
   But still, Rom 14 and collosians 2 is still in there, you are still stretching Scripture to try and fit your belief and make it say something it doesnt, Is there a place in church nobody is allowed to go but pastor once a year? you are judgung another mans servant when a brother partakes, isnt getting drunk, but yet , you call that sin,you heard of the Pharisees right, you know LUKE 7:34?  BTW, did Boaz sin? Ruth 3:6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her. 7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down. You are a false accuser of the brethren in claiming I am mad/angry. You cannot add an emotion to my post because you cannot see my face or body language to make such an accusation. You sin in accusing me of being mad/angry. I have not been mad.angry in any of my posts. Plus being mad/angry in not a sin in and of itself for we are commanded Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  I am offended that you think it is ok to drink alcoholic beverages to glorify God. that is your offense.  And your posting should have never began as many weak and addicted type Christians will read it and see your claim of glorifying God in drinking alcoholic beverages and once again get entangled in sin. You will be held in high accountability because of your teaching in this thread. At this too I am offended.  This is my judgment you should not openly admit to drinking alcoholic beverages and advocate that doing so is to glorify God in public as it will weaken others as it already has.  And my brother you are the one who needs to grow up.
