"Pastor Robert Smith of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Springfield?"

"It is."

"This is the IRS. Can you help us?"

"I'll try."

"Do you know a Ted Houlihan?"

"I do."

"Is he a member of your congregation?"

"He is."

"Has he made a donation of $10,000 to the Emmanuel Baptist Church?"

"He will".

As for your statement: It is the Pastor's responsibility to oversee the assembly. I would think that financial matters would fall under this responsibility

 

One thing I learned in 20 years of military service is that one may delegate responsibility; but he is still held accountable.
