Members Pastorj
I am in a state of shock. My church has been so against any association with this day. This year we are passing out candy because the 31st falls on Wednesday. I am amazed at how many "good" churches are doing a "Trunk or Treat". Halloween is a Satanic Holiday. It is not just about Children. It is not about Candy. No Christian should be participating in any fashion on this wicked day. No church should be participating in this wicked day. There, I said it. Now I have to find a new church as I will not go to a church that is involved in this wicked day. jebarr and swathdiver
Members 1John2:15-17
I thought this only happened in unseparated churches?? I agree with your stance. Will pray you find a good, new church home.
Members swathdiver
I'm in agreement with you. But do you celebrate Easter and Christmas? They too have pagan origins and are associated with Popery. May Day or Earth Day for the Commies and Tree Huggers, Labor Day for the Commies and Socialists, MLK Day for Commies and liberals... Super Bowl Sunday
Members Pastorj
Swathdriver - I celebrate Resurrection Sunday, not Easter. It's not always on the same day. We do celebrate Christmas to honor the birth of Christ. However, we do not get involved in the commercialism that has infiltrated the day. However, we do not get involved in the commercialism that has infiltrated the day. Could the opposite be said then of those who wish to partake in Halloween? They do not get involved in it's evil origins but partake in it's commercial aspects of getting dressed up and getting candy. Right?
Members Pastorj
The passing out of treats is part of the druid paganist part of the day. There is no good in the day. Christmas at least is a celebration of the birth of Christ. jebarr
Members Anon
I agree with PastorJ. I'm fine with holidays but Halloween is directly involved with demonic things. jebarr
Members JerryNumbers
"Trunk or Treat" seems to be growing in popularity, its a very easy way to draw children to your church. For children that do not attend a church that has such events will be saying, "Mommy, lets attend church so & so...............," & surely you know well why they want to attend that church, fun & games, & above all much candy. It takes the effort out of getting new church members, & in modern America many father & mothers lets the children lead them around by their nose. And of course most children will always choose fun, games, parties, & candy, over a very good Sunday school class.

Christmas at least is a celebration of the birth of Christ. Indeed, the "treat" portion of "trick or treat" during halloween originated in the form of a bribe or payment to appease those who would otherwise "trick" or harm you in some way if you failed to honour them with a gift. Several churches around here are having "trunk or treat", whatever that is, and some are holding other events which they call alternatives to halloween but in reality it's just a "nicer" or "christianized" version of halloween. If a church really wants to have an alternate to halloween, they should simply have church services for that would truly be an alternative. Members JerryNumbers
Never heard of a trunk and treat... What's the trunk for? What I have seen, think of cars setting in the church parking lot filled with candy along with all sorts of halloween decorations, many of which you would not expect to see around a New Testament Church nor at the home of a Christian. Members John81
I received a roundabout, unintended compliment yesterday. A professing Christian lady started talking with me about Halloween in a positive manner and said something about what we were going to do for Halloween. At this point I told her we didn't partake of things to do with Halloween. She seemed surprised and then tried to focus it upon "fun for the kids" and said something about our youngest son would probably like some candy and the "fun" of her churches trunk or treat night. Again I told her we didn't partake in anything to do with Halloween and I pointed out a few of the reasons. This lady looked at me and said, "You sound just like Teresa!" That was the roundabout, unintended compliment. Teresa is a friend of my wife and she is a woman who lives her faith and one who has always been biblically clear about matters pertaining to Halloween and has apparently shared this with that woman too. It's nice to know there are a few of us who are willing to be peculiar people and that others do take note and remember. Salyan

The thing is, on Halloween & other un-Christian things, many Christians do not want to hear the truth about them, they have their mind made up, its fun, entertaining, I will not give it up. And of course their thoughts towards those that do usually are not very good. Maybe they do not have ears to hear with when it comes to church things. All we can do is try to inform them, them let the Holy Spirit do its part, that is if they're sensitive to the Holy Spirit. For some their heart gets harden on some or even many issues. I notice most of these folks either don't want to hear the truth or they simply pay no attention when they do hear it. It's not just in these sort of matters either, many professing Christians are the same way when it comes to worldly music, movies, booze, sports, politics, matters of dress, men/women roles, etc. They don't want to hear the truth because they might be convicted to change or they have determined to ignore the truth because they are set on not changing no matter what.
