The Difference you Make!

Here is an article from last week I wrote for a local periodical...based on a sermon I preached a few months back on the matter of thinking you're not impacting those in your life.

What Does the Bible Say About: The Difference You Make?

Back in II Kings 5:1-14 we?re told about a little girl who was abducted, taken far from home and forced into slavery! She ends up being a chamber maid for the wife of Naaman a famous military leader. Naaman however was afflicted with a terrible disease (leprosy) and it wrought havoc in his life. This sweet little girl tells Naaman?s wife that there is a God in heaven and a man of God in Israel who could heal him if only he where there! Naaman later goes to meet this man of God and ends up healed in more ways than one. All this just because of the faith and witness of one little unknown girl who makes a difference by staying faithful in the face of adversity!
We never even learn her name, or her parents names but we do see some things about her! We see that despite having every right to be angry and resentful with her captors, she?s tender and kind to them. We see that although she has reason to doubt God and resent how he?s allowed her to be treated, she trusts him completely and permits him to have his way in her life! We see that despite the fact that her situation seems hopeless and it looks like God has forgotten her, she stays faithful and is confident that God is still God and in control!
Where did she learn a faith and Christian walk like that? Where did she learn to love & trust God even in adversity? Who took her to church and who read her the Bible and who stayed faithful before her so she could see how to be a Christian even in the hard times?
1. Someone, Dad & Mom, Grandparents, neighbor, a sister or brother? Someone made a difference in her life by loving the lord in front of her, being gentle as Christ in front of her, being faithful to God and church in front of her!
2. Someone suffered hard times in front of her and yet they stayed faithful and she learned from them to trust God!
3. Someone suffered adversity and perhaps pain in front of her and stayed faithful and she saw it and learned to live for God no matter the cost!
4. Someone took her to church and there she learned and saw and heard and developed faith that God can!
Christian mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparent, neighbor?.STAY FAITHFUL! You are being watched, you are being heard, you are being seen and perhaps little eyes are learning from your example! Perhaps God is using you to teach others who are not as strong as you! This is Brother Malcolm Harrison, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church saying ?You are making a difference! Make it a good difference and not a bad difference! I encourage you to stay faithful in these trying last days and stand for Jesus?!
