Is there any truth in this?

Matthew 5:14-16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I think it's our responsibility to be the Christians that God expects us to be. Granted, the one-world government is coming, and the stage is being set for it even today; however, we are to do what we know we should do.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of professing Christians are content to sit idly by while the world plunges headlong into hell. We can't stop it from coming, but we can do our part to witness, be light and salt, and warn others.

I'm glad that I'm saved and won't be here during the one-world government...

This guy is speaking from a worldly viewpoint. What did Paul do as a Christian? How about Timothy or the other Christians mentioned in the New Testament? They lived for Christ! That's what Christians are called to do. What they did is what we should be doing. Living our lives for Christ in a way they can see the light of Christ. Sharing the Gospel, supporting missionaries and our local church.

This man is also taking a worldly view of biblical prophecy. Were the prophesies of the birth of Jesus presented so it could be prevented? Even the end-times prophesies were given as a warning of what was to come, as a motivator for Christians to be about the work of the Lord while we still can, not as a call for Christians to rise up in political and/or military ways to try and prevent from happening what God has already ordained.

Christians are called to surrender their lives to Christ. We are to be about the Father's business until the end or we die (by whatever means brings the most glory to God), which ever comes first.

As for me, this world is not my home, I'm just a sojourner, my home is in Heaven. Till them I will try to do the Fathers will, keeping faith in Him.

Amen! That's what we are called to do. Remember our citizenship is in heaven and we are to be about building the Fathers kingdom, not becoming entangled with the temporary kingdoms of this world.

I do not remember where this article on Jesus & government came from, nor the author, I have it saved on my H:Drive.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
John 6:15 ¶ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Here we have three important things we need to take notice of.
1st: Jesus did this great miracle to prove that He was the real Messiah as well as to feed these hungry people.
2nd: Somehow, either by word & or reading the people’s heart, He perceived that they would seek after Him and try to force Him to be their King, they wanted to rid their self of King Herod and the Roman government.
3rd: Jesus departed into the mountain alone, for He wanted no part of usurping King Herod and taking over the world government, His kingdom was a spiritual kingdom, plus He had a mission that His Father had sent Him on and His mission. No doubt His disciples would have joined in with this request for they still had not perceived His true mission.

They surely thought that with Jesus taking the position in this world as King of the Jew’s, a worldly kingdom instead of a spiritual kingdom, with the powers He had just shown them that He had, with Him as King, worldly wisdom would say this is the readiest way to convert the Jews.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Jesus did not come into this world to take it by might, by power, but by spirit, one heart at a time.

2Ti 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Jesus never got entangled in the worldly government and surely after he had fed theses people, along with the power He possessed it would have been and easy time for Him to overthrow the worldly government. But He proved to them and us He had not come to get entangled in the affairs of this life instead He was going to finish the mission God had sent Him on.

"As for me, this world is not my home, I'm just a sojourner, my home is in Heaven. Till them I will try to do the Fathers will, keeping faith in Him."
"Amen! That's what we are called to do. Remember our citizenship is in heaven and we are to be about building the Fathers kingdom, not becoming entangled with the temporary kingdoms of this world."

And I say, Amen. I agree with you. That is why I have chosen the name Pilgrim1938 as my online title.

Now my question is: Why do we get so "entangled with the temporary kingdoms of this world"? Our political discussions, do they not suggest an entanglement with the world? Our willingness to support this politician or that politician, our willingness to support or espouse this or that ism, be it capitalism, socialism, libertarianism, or any of the many isms ....... none of which are espoused by our Lord. It seems, at least from most that I read on this forum and from conversations with other fundamentalist christian's like myself, that we have become terribly entangled with the USA, which is part of the kingdom of this world. It matters not that the Pilgrims who colonized the northeast of this continent were christian, the nation in which we live today is not (by any stretch of the imagination) a part of the kingdom of God, nor do it's leaders wish to be.

2 Cor 6:14-18
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
KJV

What do the following verses have to do with capitalism, socialism, libertarianism, or any of the many isms?

Mark 12:28-34

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
KJV

Just asking.

God bless,
Larry

Some do become very entangled in these matters, but there are a few here that will discuss political matters but they don't entangle themselves in such (they are not pouring their money into political coffers, not spending their time handing out political literature or marching the streets for a political reason, etc.).

I'm not involved in the political system, & if you had been around very long you would have seen me post theses verses.

2Ti 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Mt 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

No doubt, Jesus gave us a work to do, its go, teach, baptizing, teaching those things He has taught us though His Word. If we are entangled in the affairs of this life, & the cares of this world, be can not attend to the work he has given us as we should. But it seems most will mock me on this subject. Some say I am not doing my part. Truth is I'm trusting Him for the outcome, & He has truly freed me from the bonds of this world.

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

But I do keep up with what is going on. While some of my brothers & sister share their trust in the Lord, by trusting if they get the right man elected, it will change this country.

So instead of voting, I pray, trusting my Lord in everything, & do not put trust in a mere man.

Perhaps one day a few more will understand where I'm coming from.

Just as Christian in Pilgrim's Progress found it so easy to get off the right path, I am afraid we all do from time to time. I have been stumbling over obstacles and heading down wrong paths for a lot of years but praise be to God He has always brought be back to the right path. I just hate to see people get so wrapped up in promises of politicians and other powerful people. We should not put our trust in men, but in God. Maybe it is just sour grapes on my part, but I have erred so many times on my journey and I just I hate to see others do so. Put not your trust in your own understanding but trust in the Lord .... and don't put your trust in man either. Maybe I am just an over critical old man who cares overmuch about my fellows. If that is the case. forgive me.

God bless,
Larry

Yes they do, & its so easy to share ones trust in the Lord with man.

In public schools throughout the years most everyone has been indoctrinated, & told our county only does good things, many fall for it, that we are to be proud of our country, & it seems even put our country above God, & or to the point if your not a good American, its impossible to be a good Christian.

Many years ago when I was still a young Christian I got caught up in the political Religious Right stuff. Part of it was because of the pastors who basically preach American patriotism and Christianity go hand-in-hand, and of some who preached the Republican Party was the Party of God.

As a young Christian this sort of outward and busy activity made me feel as if I was actually doing something for the Lord. They keep one so busy and continually mix and mingle Christian sound bites among all the political talk that it's easy to believe all that political action is actually works for the Lord.

The idea the Lord would bless all our works by giving us that president who would restore America to that fabled wonderful Christian land they preach was very exciting. The thought that I could have a part in the restoration of America to being a nation for God was very appealing and made it seem as if I was really working hard for the kingdom of God.

It wasn't until I got into a good Baptist church and began attending a men's Bible study led by the pastor where we really got into the Word and I also really got serious about personal daily Bible reading and study that I began to see the worldliness of the Religious Right political movement. The more I got into the Word and grew in the Word the more the Lord helped me to see Christians are called to spread the Gospel, make disciples, grow in Christlikeness and example Christ for the world to see.

Jesus and then the Apostles were not concerned with changing the political environment of their day. They were content and busy to do the work of the Lord under whatever political conditions they lived.

A Christian can be informed and cast a vote (or choose not to vote if that is the better choice) without becoming entangled with a particular political movement.

I shudder to think of the multiple millions of dollars that professing Christians have poured into failed political endeavors which could have done so much for the kingdom of God had that money been donated to local churches, missionaries and helping those in need.

Imagine if all the hours so many give to political causes were instead donated to helping the church spread the Gospel, to helping out at a homeless shelter, donating time to help the needy elderly, etc.

Do not fear the coming of a one world government! It will not happen till the middle of the tribulation, when the ten kings who devour the world are caused by God to give their power to the antichrist and destroy the apostate christian church which had ridden them. Revelation 17:16-18

I do not fear the tyrants of this world I am not one of their sheep. I belong to another's flock. Pre-millennial, yes, I'm pretty sure. Pre-Trib or Post-Trib? I've read the Bible as well as a lot of books on the subject and I still am not sure which. I don't think it's that important to me. I'll be going with the Lord and that is all that matters. It doesn't matter when....it's all in his hands. I just post the stuff I do in the hopes that others will see what is happening around them.

God bless,
Larry

Yeah, the Mormons are ahead of us if there is a natural or man-made disaster but when the Lord sets forth to end wickedness on Earth, we are ahead and that's what really matters!

Now it is time for me to step out of my shell and let go... I AM STRICT KJV!... In scripture God said he would preserve his word... Well did he or didn't he?... If there is every translation under the sun, then he didn't but I KNOW HE DID!... The preserved word of God called the KJV is for the English people has been around for over 400 years and what is interesting to me, is the KJV was translated in 1611 and the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620... Coincidence?... A new book the preserved KJV word of God for the New World... So take that you KJV naysayers... I have been reading, studying and digging through the KJV for over 50 years... My belief is 100% Christ and scripture says so... Glad to be here and its time to take these shackles off!
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Praise God I found such a powerhouse of the outpouring of His Spirit and unapologetic in regards of the defense of the KJV Bible. When I became a Christian back in 1984, I was told to get & read the KJV. It's been my choice all these years.
