I saw this on TV today.

Chicago Police Officers stand guard after Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich arrived back home after federal authorities arrested him Tuesday on charges he sought favors to influence his choice to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama, in Chicago, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008. Makes one wonder how many governors (politicians) have sold such seats (other positions) in the past.

American politics is corrupt, probably beyond fixing. Even the corrupt politicians have set up laws to protect them selves and their benefits that go along with their positions, their not really public servants, most are parasites that feed off of the American tax payers.

But its not all doom and gloom.

If we give our undivided heart to God we will never be disappointed. Remember, the world hears us not.

I hope he resigns if not we in the state should impeach him

He has allready wasted a ton of money by refusing to move to the Govenors mansion in Springfield insisting on a personal plane to fly back and forth from Chicago .(to the tune of 5k dollars a day )

I do to, but as arrogant as he seems to me I really don't feel that he will give up his position. He may feel as long as he hangs on to this office he will still obtain power to fight these charges with. Hope I'm wrong.

If he goes to jail (hope he does!), he will be the fourth IL governor to do so. And people had such high hopes that he would run a clean administration after Ryan!!! *sigh* Yep, Jerry8, you are right. American politics are corrupt. I truly think Chicago pols are the most!!!!

YES...HC! Jail would be the best place for this man. He would have some time to do some thinking about what he has done.

ITA, about Chicago! I have cousins that have always lived around the Chicago area. And, my step-daughter moved there in mid summer. :pray

What the media is downplaying is the fact Obama comes from this same Chicago style political system. Illinois would probably be a halfway decent state if it were not for Chicago and the massive corruption that goes on there and filters its way into the state government.

With this guy, not only is he corrupt as so many others are there too, but he's exceedingly arrogant and seems to believe he's untouchable (remind anyone of Obama?). This guy knew he was being investigated yet went right ahead with plans to sell a Senate seat.

On top of all that, this guy is exceedingly foul mouthed. If you saw any of the quotes from him taken from wiretaps and wires, this guy spews the "f" word with nearly every sentence. And then he threatened the head of a childrens hosptial that if he wouldn't donate a certain amount of money to his campaign he would withhold state money from the childrens hospital. Forget about the children in need, all this guy cares about is money in his pocket.

Interesting article:

http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/rezko_ ... ode=73FD-1

President-elect Barack Obama?s ties to arrested Illinois Democratic Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich run primarily through Chicago slum lord and felon Tony Rezko.

Rezko served as the political godfather for both Blagojevich and Obama, helping both to rise in Chicago and Illinois politics. Obama himself has credited Rezko with helping to his political career.

Rezko raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for both politicians.

The article goes on to cite Rezko's ties to both men...remember that old saying, "birds of a feather flock together."

:amen: This article is only telling a "half truth." :P Obama's hands are definitely in this one.

WASHINGTON -- The federal corruption allegations against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich cast an embarrassing glare on the world of Chicago politics he shares with President-elect Barack Obama, even though the two Democrats aren't close and there is no suggestion Obama did anything inappropriate.

The case will keep the public spotlight on some episodes Obama thought he had put behind him, including his ties to Antoin Rezko, a convicted Chicago real-estate developer who was accused in a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit Tuesday of scheming with Blagojevich. Rezko raised campaign funds for both men, and was one of Obama's earliest supporters as he was climbing the political ladder in Illinois.

The matter also highlights ties between the disgraced Democratic governor and some members of Obama's inner circle. His top campaign strategist, David Axelrod -- who will move to the White House for a senior adviser's job -- lists Blagojevich on his firm's Web site as one of his clients, when the politician was a candidate for Congress.

And because Blagojevich stands accused of trying to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the president-elect, Obama's name will be forever linked to the case, even though he isn't accused of wrongdoing.

Chicago has been home to some of the country's most notorious corrupt politicians as well as some leading political reformers. Obama throughout his career has tried to portray himself as being firmly in the latter camp, while critics have repeatedly tried to tie him to the "Chicago machine" environment that shaped his early political career.

The critics have rarely succeeded. "Obama, to his credit, got through this system with very little mud on his suit," said David Mendell, a Chicago journalist and the author of an Obama biography.Teflon Man!

Democrats and the media can no longer rest on the old rationalization that Blago is an exception to the "we're cleaner than thou" rule. 2008 was the year of Democratic Reps. William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, Charlie "Sweetheart Deals" Rangel, and former Detroit Mayor Kwame "Text Me" Kilpatrick. It was the year Democratic Massachusetts State Senator Dianne Wilkerson got caught stuffing bribes from an FBI informant down her shirt. It was the year 12 Democratic leaders and staffers in Pennsylvania's state Capitol were stung in a massive corruption scandal involving cash, sex and abuse of public office. And it was the year of multimillion-dollar embezzlement scandals at Democratic satellite offices of ACORN and the SEIU.

(warning - even though it is censored, there is enough of a couple of filthy words quoted (by Blago's wife! :gross: ) to know what they are)
