Do you know I at first considered posting this in the biblical issues forum because it's acutally so accurate?

Written using the style of so many modern churches, I could see several books with these titles selling very well, perhaps even bestsellers.

What a shame that tens of thousands of professing Christians will read such books, yet they just can't find the time to read the Bible, or when they do decide to read the Bible they turn to something like "The Message". It's actually common in some churches today for the pastor to base his preaching upon a man written book, rather than the Bible. Many Sunday schools and Bible studies revolve more around a man written book, or almost exclusively around such, than the Word of God.

To be clear, there is room in a study to use man written books but they should only serve as a tool in the study and not be the center of the study. Years ago, for instance, I attended a men' Bible study where the pastor was using the book "Point Man" but the book wasn't the focus, the Word of God was.

Go to thte average Bible bookstore which is about 30,000 sq. ft. 500 of that dedicated to Bibles and of that half shelf for the KJB. It has become, "thus saith" Rick, Joel, Joyce, Charles, and etc.

That's a fact! In a small city across the river a family opened a conservative Christian bookstore. They didn't carry all the drivel, the false teaching books. They sold the KJB, solid Bible based books and conservative Christian homeschool material. They received a lot of initial attention but then it seems the vast majority preferred to shop at the overpriced Christian bookstore in the mall where they can buy the latest fad "Christian" books. The family had to close the conservative Christian bookstore due to lack of customers.

A couple years ago while travelling we stopped into a Christian bookstore we had heard a lot of people talking about. What a disappointment. There was "Christian" rap and hard rock coming across the store speakers. There were only a few KJBs on the shelf and the only biblically worthy books I could find were in the bargain bin. They had shelves full of stuff by Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and Joyce Meyer.

The fact of the matter is that any really good Christian bookstore, that hasn't compromised in the areas of music and Bible versions, is a church or online ministry, and unable to survive as a standalone brick-and-mortar business.

Recently, many bookstores are closing down because of the advent of eBooks, but that's pretty much unrelated because it's a new thing.
