THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL
Romans 1:16-17

Paul gives the definition of the Gospel in 1 Cor 15:1-4, the Death of Christ, the burial, and the resurrection.

INTRO: This failure of the world to listen to the saving message of the Gospel does not lessen the power of the Gospel. It is still just as powerful and as able as it ever was. It can save to the uttermost. It can save the vilest of sinners. It can change the heart and life of the worlds greatest sinner. For the most part too many of the Bible believing, the Bible preaching, the fundamental pastors across this land have been ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. We are paying the heavy price for that at this present time, and it will worsen. If we don?t preach the Gospel to the lost world we will not have an audience to teach the doctrine of the Bible. If all we teach is the doctrine of the N.T. and omit the Gospel we will dry up our church and it will become a ghost house.
The word ?Gospel? means ?good news?, or ?good tidings.? It was and is the type of message one might shout across the street to a friend. ?It?s a boy!? The Christian message has the same note of joy.

We must make an all out effort to put this ?good news? in the home of every person. Without that we will all face the Lord for our failure.

THE AFFECT IT HAS ON OTHERS - ?Unto salvation.? ?The power of God unto salvation.?

What this town needs is salvation. That old Gospel that has been preached for 2000 years is what is needed. The town where you live and the surrounding areas need salvation more than they employment. They need to hear the ?good news? more than they need medical care. They need salvation more than tax shelters, and retirement plans. Salvation is a greater need than is a better educational system.

I have three thoughts about the affect it has on others.

The First affect. Salvation Will Solve The Problem Of The Breakup Of Homes.

1. You show me a home where both parents are saved, and they are both in agreement about the things of the Lord, and you will find a solid home.
2. You show me a home where the Bible is the authority of that home, and you will find a functional home.
3. You show me a home where Jesus Christ is loved and worshipped by the members of that home and you will not find the need of a divorce attorney.

The second affect. Salvation Will Solve The Problem Of Gangs, Illicit Sex, And Drugs. Our schools are facing great problems because of these sins.

1. Where Christ is the center of the attention there will be no uncontrollable problems of these natures.
2. The reason we are so infested with gangs, drugs, and all other sins, is that the Gospel of Christ was not preached to those generations.
3. When we took the Bible out of the schools back in the 60?s, we took away our only means to educate the population. No one can be educated without a knowledge of God?s Word.

J. Edgar Hoover said that no education can be complete without some knowledge of the Bible.
Since the removal of Christ and the Bible our system has gone to anarchy, and it will only get worse.
In the 1970?s you could stand on a porch and talk to the family about Christ and the Bible and they would have some knowledge of what you were saying ? Now there is no knowledge at all. The offspring of the 70?s is illerit in spiritual matters.

The third affect. Salvation Will Solve The Problem Of Low Morals.

The Greek word that is translated into ?power? is ?dunamis?. It means: ?miraculous power -- ability, abundance, meaning, might (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.?

To explain further we can say that it is ?dynamic?. The Gospel of Christ is dynamic. It transforms and changes human lives. Thus, the more the need to take this powerful Gospel to all in our community.

Oh! why don?t we do this? Everyone here believes it is the answer. We have the cure for our sick nation. If you are not willing to take the Gospel to sinner then don?t complain about the condition of our country.
