  1. The Proper Teaching of Malachi 3:7-11 The proper teaching from Malachi 3:7-11 should be that tithing was an ordinance given to national Israel, not to the Church. The proper teaching from Malachi 3:7-11 should be that Malachi was referring to a tithe of crops and livestock... not money. The proper teaching from Malachi 3:7-11 should be that the curse associated with not tithing was locusts and withholding of rain... not loss of jOB, loss of money, ill health, automotive repairs, etc.. The proper teaching from Malachi 3:7-11 should be that the blessings associated with tithing was rain from heaven and withholding the locust from eating the crops... bringing about a bountiful harvest... not more money, better jOB, good health, close-knit family, etc.. The proper teaching from Malachi 3:7-11 is that it was written to Israel, not to the Church. The Church was not rOBbing God... the Priests of Israel were. Monetary tithe requirement teachers clearly distort the proper teaching of Malachi 3, turning the rebuke and exhortation into something that God never said. The monetary tithe requirement doctrine is in improper doctrine and has no place in the post-cross Church. Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Pastors need to allow the light to shine upon Scripture as they study it. Take off the blinders of religion and tradition, and let the mind of Christ interpret the Scripture. If they do, God will reveal to them that which He has revealed to many concerning the tithes of the Mosaic/Levitic Law.
  2. The pastor preached on tithing. Now, he knows my wife and I don't tithe. We do not believe it is a New Testament teaching for Christians. The Apostles never taught it in any of their epistles. Now, mind you it is not that he preached on tithing that upset us, he has preached on tithing in the past. What upset us is an out and out lie he told in his pulpit. He told the congregation that he does not know who tithes and who does not. The fact is, he knows my wife and I don't tithe. He has cornered me in the past and told me we need to start tithing. So his statement that he doesn't know who tithes and who does not was an out and out lie. Truth be known, no one in the Church tithes... even when they put 10% of their money in one of those white and green "Tithes" envelopes, so the whole sermon was built upon a lie.
