  1. We also don't celebrate Halloween. Our church has Trunk or Treat, but we don't participate in that, either.
  2. People can still purchase guns and ammo in Canada from what my friends there tell me. There's just a heavy handed regulation there. We see this kind of thing in many European countries, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
  3. Hello, and Welcome! My wife is from Augusta, Georgia, and I lived there for several years. I look forward to your participation.?
  4. Hey, nothing wrong with trying different approaches. ? Give it a go! Have a great night. Got to hit the hay...I've got to have the remaining 14 teeth removed from my overly large head so that I can get my dentures tomorrow! LOL
  5. I just turned 61 earlier this month and can't believe how much I'm forgetting. I'm working on some memory skillsets, though. Besides, I still write, compose, and do voiceovers.
  6. I've heard arguments for all three positions, and was briefly being disciplined by the college I went to for studying the positions for my thesis for the year, which was the End Times. They confiscated all my papers, my books, etc.,, that had to do with the subject and told me to stop studying this subject...to stop attending some of the lectures of the mid-trib and post-trib positions. I grew up in a pretribulation rapture church, so I knew that position. I thought Bible college was where we were supposed to study these things out....guess I was wrong! LOL
  7. Thank you, Joe. I knew it was in Acts, but for the life of me am just too tired to recall anything at this point.
  8. Truly, Joe, it might have been. Having been up for over 48 hours, it might have gone right over my head! LOL Yes, I get the "don't judge" approach from many church members. When I was an interim pastor in a church that split, I got a lot of the "don't judge" when I pointed out that the people in our church who were lambasting the people who left were doing the very same things that they were accusing those on the other side of the split of doing. Thankfully, I only was their interim pastor for six weeks before I went with the other side of the split.
  9. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I noticed Scripture...yet, we find that those who do believe in a pre-tribulation, or mid-tribulation rapture have Scripture that supports their position as well. So, you, being an Independent, Fundamental Baptist discount dispensationalism, especially where it leads to no rapture...correct? This is just for clarification.
  10. I have had several relatives who had dementia...my maternal grandmother and great-grandmother; my mother's sister, who passed away three years ago from Alzheimer's, and most recently a great aunt who also passed away from a fall while in a nursing home in Indiana who also had Alzheimer's. It was impossible NOT to have to lie to them to get them to do what they needed to do. I believe that if the intent is to help in situations like this, to protect them from themselves, it's perfectly acceptable. I mean, Christian parents lie to their children and tell them that there is an Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, elves, and flying reindeer, though, for the children I don't believe parents should be doing this...but, it's up to them on how they raise their children, and it isn't like it is with grown people who are suffering from a brain-killing disease.
  11. Care to explain? Scripture is nice, but there has to be a point, and so far as I can tell, you've not given one. The Bible also tells us to "judge righteous judgment." It also tells us to be wary of strange gospels, and that by ones fruit we will know them. So, what exactly is your point here?
  12. You sound more like much of your theology is "reformed" theology. That being said, can I take it that you're a Calvinist? It''s a big off-subject, but will help me further understand your position. My wife and I attend an SBC-affiliated church, and we're finding that many of the pastors in the fellowship of the SBC are leaning "reformed" and Calvinist in theology. Many of these pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and college professors are preaching and teaching these things in their pulpits and in the seminary classrooms.
  13. They shouldn't have had to since the Gentiles, believers or not, were never obligated to live by any levitical requirements. They were never Jewish.
  14. They did away with a lot of the requirements for Jews that were being forced on the Gentiles by the devout Jewish community.
  15. Not if that's where the Lord directs us to go. ?
  16. We are currently visiting other churches. Until the Lord directs us to the church he wants us in, we have a mission to try to accomplish here.
  17. I sincerely doubt that the love of the almighty dollar is the main reason for some making the choice to use other versions of the Bible. Most I have spoken with state the inability to understand the "Kings English," which nobody speaks today.
  18. I can verify this as I have been to many of their services when I was growing up. I had many uncles who were charismatic preachers and evangelists. I still have cousins who are in the charismatic movement.
  19. Thanks, Brother. That's what I thought. Fellowship Baptist College in E. Peoria, Illinois was a split from them in the middle 70s. They started a new "fellowship", but that, like the college itself has faded away.
  20. Is this the same BBF out of Missouri? If so, I went to a Bible college that was started as a split from the BBF.
  21. Welcome to Online Baptist!
  22. Hate to say it, but I totally disagree with you. There's no reason to visit a charismatic church. Why would you even post something like this?
  23. English TRANSLATION of a Greek/Hebrew/Aramaic word...his action was that of a baptizer, or "baptist." Using your reasoning, we could well call ourselves "The church of God," or "the church of God." ?
  24. LOL John was a Jew, and was a "baptizer," not a Baptist, per se. And we all know who founded the Christian church! ??
  25. The problem with your scenario is that it would never be allowed to happen in any church I would be a member of. The pastor may shepherd the church, but he's not the final say. Adding supposed scenarios is not of much use. From your own statement's here and in other threads, it seems you're looking for reasons to leave when none seem to be there. I hope this is not the case.
