Jonah 1:15-17 says a "great fish." A whale is a mammal. Of course at that point in time it's very likely that a whale was referred to/classified as a fish. This was brought up on another board as a contradiction in the Bible.

So, TGL, just how many churches do YOU know of that invest in the stock market? I have contacts in thousands of churches of many different denominations and not a one of them invests in the stock market. They know the money belongs to the Lord and not to themselves.

Our current POTUS and his VP are a judgement on this nation for us turning our backs on him. Personally, I think a trained chimp would do a better job than they have done. I'm not so sure that many in the race right now on the Republican side are any better than the current administration. But, any of them would be a slight improvement.

No, I have never heard of a church investing in the stock market. I've heard of a denomination doing it, ie, Mormons, and even some Catholic diocese's. Now concerning Christians investing in the stock market, there's nothing wrong with it. One can wisely invest and secure quite a bit of wealth doing so. It's pretty much between each individual and the Lord what they do with their money.

I've used this on one or two on these forums a long while back. It's a great idea for the peace of the board and the peace of mind that comes with not having to deal with unscriptural doctrine being introduced. Still, there are times when such needs to be addressed. Moderators and Administrators are best at handling this, and these things should be brought to their attention.

People don't have to see the scriptures to become convicted and convinced of their need for a savior. Hearing the Word is sufficient. I know many who had never cracked open a Bible, but heard the gospel message and came to Christ.

That sounds a lot like the Calvinistic doctrine of Irresistible Grace. Nobody is implying God's not sovereign or that he has to wait...but, I do believe that God has given man a free will. He already knows who is and who isn't going to believe on Christ and he lets that play out.

Sounds a lot like Calvinism to me. I agree he begins a good work in us through the preaching of the Word and conviction of the heart. Still, a person has to choose to accept or reject that offer of salvation.
