  1. I see no problem with a church being part of a convention or association but also am aware that these associations usually go bad over time. Just like about everything else. They follow the Man, Movement, Machine, Monument law.

I also disagree that a pastor in a totally autonomous church usually becomes a dictator. From my experience members will hijack the church from the pastor more often than the pastor becoming a dictator.

  2. Interesting that most of them are New England states. My first thought was because of the rampant Ivy League liberalism.

Alaska could be because of the large male population there. Single males are probably less likely to go to church.

Hawaii, I'm not sure but I have a feeling it may be hard to start a church there because of cultural reasons.

A strong relationship with the police never hurts, and I have to disagree that it doesn't mean anything. Without cooperation from law enforcement a church could have a very rough time. My b-i-l works security at a big SBC church and crime in that area of town is rampant. With the presence of law enforcement, around that eight block radius is far less than what it is when they are not there.

I'm talking about in a time of a deadly emergency. Some churches are out far from police and the time it would take to get there it's better to be prepared ahead of time. I remember a State Trooper, who attended a church I did, warning us that at times, depending on where they were in the county and how many were on duty, it could take them 45 minutes to get to a call.

I know some of the brethren are dead set against self defense but not me.

You guys should see the NZ baptist church teachings.

Mainly charismatic or Pentecostal, often teach eternal salvation is undoable, most often the sermons are topical rather than scriptural.

There is a big congregation in a church in my city that used to be Spreydon Baptist church, we called them 'Sprayed on' baptist church.

They may as well just be vineyard or new life churches, there isn't much distinctively Baptist about them

I once visited a Charismatic Baptist church here in America. One of the most bizarre experiences ever. Especially seeing teenagers making out in the pews during the "contemporary worship music" i.e. rock concert.

Looks like they went through with it. Apparently, the word "Southern" is associated with slavery. The country has gone mad.

I doubt it, their members are weak doctrinally, or else they would not be a part of any convention. They will follow the piper as they always have.

I've been to a Southern Baptist church one time and it was a carnal mess. The singing droned on for what it seemed like two hours of contemporary music singing the same chorus over and over until you fell into a trance. Then the "lesson" from a milquetoast version of the word of God. I can't remember which but I couldn't follow along. I'm sure there are plenty of good Christians who lov God and live good lives (I liked the pastor) in that church but for me personally, I'm wretched and hard so I need some old time religion.
