  1. I respectfully disagree. But you did give me a good laugh.
  2. Here is what shows on my screen; I hope he did not infect others who had been around him. Most days during the coronavirus pandemic, Cardinal Raymond L. Burke could be found strolling down the streets of Rome maskless and carrying rosary beads. The 73-year-old conservative cardinal was an early critic of social distancing and, later, an unabashed skeptic of the vaccine. On Tuesday, Burke announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus. Now, the cardinal is in a hospital bed in his native Wisconsin, breathing with the help of a ventilator. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08/16/cardinal-raymond-burke-ventilator-covid/
  3. I believe that Cardinal Raymond L. Burke would be quite surprised to learn he is a fictional character. I am perplexed how you thought my post about Cardinal Burke was part of the humorous post on Abbott and Costello.

  5. ROFL. That is a rely that would get me banned from the board, at least for several days. I'll not take offense as I consider the source and understand much more than you realize. I am almost never angry. Anger kills, and it kills the person who holds it. Also, anger is a waste of time. Anger is like hatred and that is like drinking poison and hoping it kills the other person. Instead of anger, I usually laugh …. as indicated above. You know, if we lived where we could get together and talk we would probably not agree on much, but would become friends. I worked with a fellow with whom I almost never agreed. Yet, I considered him one of my best friends. So, rant about me all you want. It's OK. Blessings to you and yours.
  6. It cannot be that the arm is magnetic. There are three types of magmatism, diamagnetism, Para magnetism, and ferromagnetism. Have you ever stuck a penny on your arm and it stuck. It is an old magic trick that wows kids. What your sister experienced was adhesion, that is the magnet stuck because of the natural moisture and oils on her arm.
  7. I feel Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden all are responsible. I am sure that Bush followed the advice of Rumsfeld, a real hawk who was itching for war. I believe Bush was a decent person who ended up with bad advisors. Following him, I believe the Pentagon hid many problems and were overly optimistic. I now believe Obama was mislead and probably he (Obama) mislead the American people. I believe Trump made a serious strategic mistake when he entered and signed an agreement with the Taliban agreeing on a date to begin our military withdrawal without allowing the Afghan government a say in the negotiations. The Taliban knew all they had to do was bide their time until we left. Biden was saying what he was told. I believe the Pentagon mislead him also. We threw 88 billion into Afghanistan. The corruption there misused much of the money, make many very rich, and produced no effective military. I cannot imagine the bitterness of many families knowing they lost fathers, sons, and daughters all for nothing. I am sick over this dark chapter in our history. I am sure that Happy is correct and that the majority of the Afghan people do not want the Taliban. Sadly, for them, we abandoned them and they are stuck with the Taliban and we know how terrible the Taliban treated people when they were in power before.
  8. Yes. I expect a lot of people here will get it. The account has been disabled.
  9. Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former head of the Food and Drug Administration, said COVID-19 vaccines still provide strong protection against serious disease and death, even as new research shows vaccinated individuals can spread the worrying Delta variant. Gottlieb noted that the COVID-19 vaccines were primarily intended to significantly reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization. Unvaccinated individuals account for the overwhelming majority of new hospitalizations and deaths. "That premise is still fully intact," said Gottlieb. "We still see that these vaccines are doing a very good job preventing symptomatic disease, preventing hospitalization and death." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-vaccines-delta-variant-effectiveness-gottlieb/
  10. It prevents many people form getting COVID. The real goal is to prevent serious illness if the vaccinated person does catch the disease. The body builds up antibodies to the disease. Side effects, such as headaches, nausea, etc. indicate that your body is building up antibodies, i.e. immunity. Hopefully the immunity will prevent a person from getting sick at all. Next best is the immunity prevents the illness from becoming serious and we see that in many vaccinated people who do become ill. The worse case is that the person's body builds up no immunity. That is often age related. That is why I was disappointed that I had no reaction. At my age I was not surprise, but disappointed as it meant in all probability I developed few antibodies and possibly none at all. I expect to be cleared for a 3rd shot before long and I will take it. It would be foolish for me not to take it. You asked what percentage would be unlikely to catch the disease. I would say 85% and above. That is my opinion. Data shows the Pfizer vaccine is about 95% effective. I'll take those odds. No vaccine is 100% effective.
  11. Isn't it obvious. Very few people who have been vaccinated catch COVID. So, if the unvaccinated had gotten their vaccination they would no longer be unvaccinated. Thus, being vaccinated it is very unlikely they would have caught COVID and spread it to others.
  12. I respectfully disagree. Did you see my question to you?
  13. Not really. The unvaccinated spread the disease when they become infected. If they had had their vaccination it is very likely they would not have caught COVID and spread it. So, the unvaccinated knowing that do not seem to care that they put others in danger.
  14. You are right, we should never have been there. You can thank Rumsfeld for our going there. He convinced G. Bush. Bush was unfortunate in that he had bad advisors. I am not sure why or how that happened. Regardless we have paid a terrible price for his following their bad advice. I said when we went in it was a mistake, like getting your fist stuck in a tar baby. You do not get out easily or clean. This was obvious if you knew the history of Afghanistan. They do not need to find opium. They grow it.
  15. You do not understand vaccinations. You are making a common mistake. The vaccine is not necessarily to prevent a person from becoming ill, but to make the illness a slight one rather than a very serious one. And they are working. You need to do some research and learn.
  16. That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history. Aldous Huxley
  17. Doughboy Falls at Age 71 Please join in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. Rumor has it that some uninvited Ho-Ho's also appeared. The gravesite was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he was was a crusty old man who was still sweet on the inside. He was considered a roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, and they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly dad, Pop Tart, his best friend, Jimmy Dean, and a former Mistress, Trix. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
  18. We never learn from history. We spent 88 Billion and got nothing. It was so predictable. Taliban fighters entered the outskirts of the Afghan capital on Sunday and said they were awaiting a "peaceful transfer" of the city after promising not to take it by force, but panicked residents raced to the leave, with workers fleeing government offices and helicopters landing at the U.S. Embassy. https://www.npr.org/2021/08/15/1027806863/the-taliban-seize-jalalabad-cutting-off-kabul-to-the-east
  19. So, it is ok to not get a vaccination and put other people in danger?
  20. But it is immoral and selfish to put others in danger. Being unvaccinated puts others in danger from you. Remember the Golden Rule.
  21. ROFL. So you are defending an immoral stance. Are you a Baby-boomer?
  22. It is un-American to put others at risk and not be concerned about their health and life. And, it is immoral to put others at risk. Just a few verses from the Bible that show it is immoral to place oneself ahead of others, and this included situations such as COVID. Philippians 2:3 Philippians 2:4 Romans 12:10 1 Corinthians 10:24
  23. Same principle. Same result .... except the vaccination folk finally won and eradicated Smallpox. If the anti-vaxers had won people would still becoming ill with that dreaded disease. Fox news Geraldo Rivers unloads on the 'Arrogant, Selfish' Unvaccinated. https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-geraldo-rivera-unloads-on-the-arrogant-selfish-unvaccinated Why refusing the COVID-19 vaccine isn't just immoral--it's 'un-American' https://theconversation.com/why-refusing-the-covid-19-vaccine-isnt-just-immoral-its-un-american-165564
  24. It is extremely selfish as you are putting yourself and others at greater risk than is necessary. Covid-19 hospitalizations continue to surge as the infectious delta variant sweeps across the U.S., leaving hospitals in states with poor vaccination rates and few restrictions nearing capacity as they struggle to cope with record numbers of new patients. https://www.forbes.com/sites/roberthart/2021/08/10/hospitalizations-spike-in-states-with-low-vaccination-rates-as-unvaccinated-covid-patients-fill-icus/?sh=9edbd0414b12
