  1. I agree we should not have stayed 20 years. I do agree with Biden, if we waited 5 or more years before we pulled out the result would be the same.
  2. Bush made the mistake of going in. All the presidents since have made mistakes. We should never have gone in.

  5. (MURFREESBORO) How is the local Delta COVID situation here in Rutherford County? NewsRadio WGNS spoke with Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer Julian Yang, MD. “The Delta COVID "surge" is coming on way faster than the disease did previously... so far, the hospital is keeping up, but we are anticipating to see unprecedented numbers for COVID this next month (September, 2021).” “To the unvaccinated, now's the time! Please get your vaccine. It's proven safe and effective. If you get COVID in the coming weeks, the vaccine may mean the difference between symptoms of a common cold vs. a life or death hospitalization.” Dr. Yang concluded, “To the vaccinated, the vaccine is not a cure all, and we each have a responsibility to our community in general. We don't need lockdowns again, but masking and social distancing will help reduce spread--especially to those who don't have the option for vaccination due to medical reasons.” https://www.wgnsradio.com/article/69886/delta-covid-surge-locally

  9. FDA Approves First COVID-19 Vaccine Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised individuals.
  10. GENIUSES AT WAR: Bletchley Park Colossus and the Dawn of the Digital Age By David A. Price The dramatic, untold story of the brilliant team whose feats of innovation and engineering created the world’s first digital electronic computer—decrypting the Nazis’ toughest code, helping bring an end to WWII, and ushering in the information age. I have never read a book that describes in such detail the technical and mathematical work of code breaking done at Bletchley Park in England during World War II.
  11. Really? UT doing well. Hmm. UTMC said non-essential procedures are being delayed again on a case-by-case basis starting Monday as COVID-19 hospitalizations surge. This comes as COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to grow rapidly to the point East Tennessee regional hospitals reported they running low on ICU bed space. On Wednesday, the Knox County Health Department said there were only five ICU beds available in all of East Tennessee's 19 regional hospitals. While ICUs typically stay busy during the summer months, the rapid growth in COVID-19 cases has led to a rapid rise in new hospitalizations -- almost entirely in unvaccinated people according to local and state health officials. https://www.wbir.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/ut-medical-center-to-pause-some-non-essential-surgeries-as-icus-fill-up-with-covid-patients-again/51-d14aea89-5497-422a-83b2-1e88d412ea0a
  12. SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The head doctor at Sumner Regional Medical Center said the delta variant of COVID-19 “has burned through us with a ferocity that’s hard to describe,” adding “there are no beds.” https://www.wate.com/news/there-are-no-beds-doctor-at-sumner-regional-says-delta-variant-has-burned-through-hospital/ About 99.9999% of fully vaccinated Americans have not had a deadly COVID-19. https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/08/02/about-99-999-of-fully-vaccinated-americans-have-not-had-a-deadly-covid-19-breakthrough-case-cdc-data-shows/
  13. Tennessee: More COVID-19 hospitalizations in August than any other month of pandemic There have been 1,023 new hospitalizations in Tennessee in the first 15 days of August, more than any other full month of the pandemic. The next worst month for COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state was November, when new hospitalizations surpassed 900. https://www.wate.com/news/tennessee-more-covid-19-hospitalizations-in-august-than-any-other-month-of-pandemic/

  15. As the delta variant continues to surge across the country, some hospitals have been pushed to their breaking point. The United States recorded more than 140,000 new infections on Friday and Saturday, and daily average cases are up 930% since mid-June. The eight states with the highest case rates are in the deep south and account for more than half of all cases in the country. The situation is especially dire in Houston, where there is a 600-person waiting list for hospital beds and growing concerns over a lack of necessary staffing. https://abc7ny.com/covid-hospitalizations-which-states-have-the-most-cases-8-half-of/10954477/
  16. Thanks for the good laugh this morning. It gets my day off to a good start. How are the Democrats killing Republicans. it isn't the Democrats that are discouraging them from protecting themselves from COVID?
  17. COVID-10 has hit people in Republican-led states hardest, study finds https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/covid-19-has-hit-people-in-republican-led-states-hardest-study-finds American Republicans Are Killing Their Voters https://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/vaccination-reduced-mortality-evidence-republicans-by-jeffrey-frankel-2021-07 In the second half of 2020, Republican-led states had higher Covid-19 case rates and death rates than Democrat-led states, according to a study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine on Tuesday. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/10/politics/covid-cases-deaths-red-blue-states-late-2020/index.html
  18. Ah, but there are a lot more unvaccinated people in the hospital than vaccinated. We know that at least 98% of the people in the hospital with COVID are unvaccinated folk. So, if there are 10000 people in the hospital with COVID 9,800 will be unvaccinated and 200 vaccinated. in the hospital. So 2% of 9,800 people means that 196 will die where as of the 200 vaccinated 40 will die. Big difference in the number of people. So, vaccinations work in keeping people safe from serious COVID illness. 99.9999% of people who have had the COVID vaccine have not contacted COVID. Is it because they do not agree with you?
  19. The proof is in the pudding. Vaccines work. COVID vaccines work. 98+% of people in the hospital with COVID are unvaccinated. Less the 3% are vaccinated. If that isn't proof then what is? Iceland proves that COVID-19 vaccines work in that those vaccinated, if they get COVID, do not have rates of serious illness and death as those who are unvaccinated. But contrary to online misinformation and conspiratorial social media posts, infectious-disease experts say Iceland’s outbreak actually illustrates how effective the vaccines are at preventing the virus’s most severe impacts. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/iceland-covid-surge-vaccines/2021/08/14/bdd88d04-fabd-11eb-911c-524bc8b68f17_story.html We are safe from the most serious effects of Smallpox, Polio, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, COVID, and other diseases because of vaccinations. Face it. You are wrong. The head of the National Institutes of Health warned Sunday that unvaccinated Americans are “sitting ducks” for the significantly more transmissible delta variant of COVID-19 as he predicted daily cases could soar to 200,000. “We’re in a world of hurt,” NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.” He said he would be “surprised if we don’t cross 200,000 cases a day in the next couple of weeks. That’s heartbreaking, considering we never thought we would never be back in that space again,” Collins added. New infections in the nation are already surpassing 123,000 each day, based on a seven-day average, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/francis-collins-nih-sitting-ducks-delta-unvaccinated_n_6119a503e4b07b9118ac39bc
  20. Is Smallpox still a threat the vaccinated? Is Polio still a threat the vaccinated? Is Whooping Cough still a threat to the vaccinated? Is Diphtheria still a to threat the vaccinated? Is Tetanus still a to the vaccinated? Is Pertussis still a threat to the vaccinated?
  21. I agree with you. I have been vaccinated against more diseases than I care to think about and have appreciated having some and perhaps a lot of protection. I think the most vaccinations I had in one day was four when I was in basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC. I have no idea what they were for and did not care. I knew they would help keep me healthy. I also will take the 3rd show if it becomes available for me. I am older than you. I also realize that the older a person is the more likely that protection given by a shot will not give much if any protection. I was not surprised, but was disappointed that I had no reaction to the COVID shots. A reaction indicated the body is building antibodies to that disease. As I had no reaction I am left not knowing if I have and immunity to COVID or not. I like to think I have some. Therefore, I am careful. I wear a mask whenever I go to a store or anywhere inside, including church. Interestingly, everyone at the church I attend wears a mask during worship including the pastor, except for the sermon. There have been people against vaccinations ever since Edward Jenner when in 1796 he vaccinated a lad against Cowpox. Those against vaccines then and now are wrong and they will continue to be wrong in the future.
  22. What is the poison and what are the bodily indicators. Just curious.
  23. The South Carolina Republican senator Lindsey Graham called Joe Biden after his victory over Donald Trump to tell the president he only joined attacks on his son, Hunter Biden, as a “bare minimum” to satisfy Trump supporters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/aug/16/lindsey-graham-joe-biden-hunter-call-trump-support Is Graham beginning to lay the groundwork to turn 180 degrees again and attack Trump at some point in the future?
