Please supply a quote from "The Cost of Discipleship" that supports saved by works. Thanks.

To me there are a number of powerful quote in "The Cost of Discipleship." Two examples are:

“Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: 'Ye were bought at a price', and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God.”

“When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.”

  3. Leviticus 11:3-12

    King James Version

3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

  4. WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. judge on Wednesday sanctioned Sidney Powell and other lawyers who sued in Michigan to overturn Democratic President Joe Biden's election victory over Donald Trump, and suggested they might deserve to lose their law licenses.

In a highly anticipated written ruling, U.S. District Judge Linda Parker in Detroit said the pro-Trump lawyers, including Powell and prominent litigator Lin Wood, should have investigated the Republican former president's voter fraud claims more carefully before suing.

Parker formally requested that disciplinary bodies investigate whether the pro-Trump lawyers should have their law licenses revoked. The judge also ordered the lawyers to attend classes on the ethical and legal requirements for filing legal claims, and to reimburse election officials for expenses incurred defending the lawsuit.

  5. I have read the Jewish dietary laws were written in the 6th century BC. I do now know when they came into practice in that culture. My guess is some centuries before they were written down.

Genesis 9:3 gives permission to eat meat.

    KJV of Genesis 9:3

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

Still, if it's a GROUP plan, it's discriminatory in nature, and those who refuse the jab could sue, or strike causing trouble for the airlines. They can't afford to be out of business too long. Either that or the company needs to restructure their medical plan, giving the employees notice that it will change at the end of the year. This isn't a totalitarian nation....yet!

No, many companies charge smokers more for their health insurance. Why should people who do not smoke have to pay for the increased cost of smokers health care. Same with people who will not be vaccinated. 98+ of the patients in hospitals with COVID are unvaccinated. Why should those who are saving their companies money by being vaccinated be punished by have to help those who refuse to help themselves?

  7. 1 minute ago, BrotherTony said:

Too much of a discriminatory action, and the workers could cause a huge problem for the airlines...It's happened in the past, and I hope they band together and do the same again. They're being divisive, which is just how the National Socialist DEMONCRATS want this country to be...the most divisive party in the history of the United States.

The company is probably just trying to cover its increase in health care insurance cost.

  8. I fully expect other companies to institute a similar policy, get the jab or pay more for your health insurance.

Enough is enough: Delta Air Lines is leveraging the XXXX healthcare plan to get employees vaccinated. If you want to work on their planes, and you’re on their health insurance, you’ll have to get the jab or pay $200 a month.

I'm sorry, but some of this still sounds like too much of a conspiracy theory to some of us. It was in a lot of the Q-Anon junk I received, and I ended up disregarding everything it said about it...they also stated that Trump would be POTUS, and if he lost the election he would shortly be re-instated...Sound familiar? People give in to conspiracy theories far too easily. I'm not saying that it IS a conspiracy theory, but, I am stating that it sounds like one. I've got some research from friends who work with Graphene oxide, and I know my nephews and nieces who are in the medical field know about it, but they don't verify anything that is being reported here! They're Christian men and women, and i don't believe they'd lie about this, especially to family members.

Don't faint, I agree with BT.

Also, no one can make a microchip so small it would exit a needle into the body.

Do you have personal experience with this, BB?? LOL  I know when we recarpeted my MIL's home, it was only one week before we had a hot buttered biscuit with strawberry jam fall onto the carpet butter side down! Later that same day, my FIL spilled a large bottle of beer and his large bowl of chili! UGH!

Events like that make you either laugh or cry …. or both.

Don't take everything you read from these "politicians" literally...they're usually NOT accurate. And even if the cases DID rise, I can pretty much guarantee you that it wasn't 500 this past week. I live here right across the county line in Bedford County..in fact, I can see Rutherford County from my house, and lived there from 1995-2004. You put far too much faith in what you read, BB, and not enough stock in the people who live, work, and attend church here. I doubt if more parents are going to encourage their children to wear masks, as about 80% of the county is against it!

I doubt you 80% as the 45.2% of the people have been vaccinated as of Aug. 24th. That's up from 42% on August 11th. And, I expect more than 45.2 percent are in favor of wearing masks. If you go shopping where I live it is rare to see a person without a mask.

  11. Rutherford County Schools saw student COVID-19 cases increase from 70 on Aug. 13 to 500 this past week, records show.

The K-12 district also reported 1,607 student quarantines this past week out of a fast-growing enrollment of 48,754 students at 50 schools, according to the district's online COVID-19 dashboard, which was updated on Monday.

Rutherford County Board of Education Chairman Coy Young said the district needs more parents to encourage their children to wear masks to help reduce the spread of the virus and avoid possible school closures that occurred in past year

And, as I thought in the beginning, you'd avoid answering...Typical behaviour from you...I should expect no less. And please, don't sully the good name of Ronald Reagan...having something he said quoted by you is really in "The Twilight Zone!"

You just can't help yourself, can you?

Well, I have ask you several questions today and you have yet to answer one.

Please, pray tell, where I am being abusive to you???? And, what do you mean by "again?" If being direct and to the point is abusive, you're truly a weaker individual than I thought.  I pointed out that you continually are posting NEGATIVE comments about everything...period. TRUTH! Does that hurt??? And as far as being a law and order man, I pretty much am. With several family members in law enforcement, as well as a few hundred friends, I have to be. I thought you had a much thicker skin that what you're portraying. You don't mind trying to intimidate, but when someone actually will contest back, you can't seem to handle it...not my circus...not my monkeys!

As Ronald Reagan said, "There you go again."

So? Someone plead guilty...Maybe they were. I'm sure that your liberal source just loved it...and I KNOW you did, otherwise you wouldn't be posting the trash..but then, you support that mental imbicile we have as POTUS right now. Of course, I know he's your age and has so much more in common with your generation that anyone else here! LOL

I thought you are a law and order man.

I see you are resorting to abusive posts again.

You have no idea where the money came from even though I've given you several possibilities to choose from. Do your own homework....We went after the country that was harboring the terrorist who set up the attacks...that's all that matters...Care to go around again, BB?? You're losing!

No. Your refusal to answer answers all I need to know.

  16. 6 minutes ago, BrotherTony said:

I've not dodged anything...and you're pulling the same thing you did before you 'took a vacation." Remember, BB, I'm NOT going to be intimidated by you. You've got little sway over anything I do or feel. You've been trying to get me to answer your inane questions for several weeks now, and I thought you'd have learned...you answer a question with a question like you're still doing, and you'll not get an answer from me. I don't play those games. You apparently don't know who supplied the money, as you're still iem-hawing around looking for an answer. I've told you where the money came from...accept it and move on.

Now, back to the Taliban...which apparently BB wants to avoid since he's trying to derail his own thread again!

Well, just answer my question please. Should we have gone after the country that supplied the money?

A person who consistently answers a question with a question is either trying to divert attention because he doesn't understand the question, or is trying to avoid the question because he has no answer.

I don't know what you're trying to push over on me, BB...but it's not going to work. I haven't admitted anything...All I said was that I wasn't going to do your homework for you. You keep answering questions with questions...typical of someone who has NO ANSWERS...which apparently, you don't! Go figure!

I've  done my homework. I seriously doubt you have as you dodged the question.

Now, an easier question. Should we have gone after the country that supplied the money?"

Would you be willing to discus this topic of Matt 5:9 in another thread? Christ, the Prince of Peace, realized there must at times be conflict.

    Sure, start a thread.

How about we actually have a commander-in-chief who's got brains enough to remove military ordinants before leaving the country so that there's nothing left for the enemy to use against their citizens or their neighboring countries? Biden's been a miserable failure and has given the Taliban all it needs to continue just as strong as it was before!

Seems like you can't think for yourself, BB...I'm NOT doing your homework for you! You know for sure that much of the money came from Osama, and some may have come from his family....But, you wouldn't want to have him take responsibility for that, now, would you?

    First paragraph.

Most of the ordnance was what we had given the Afghani military so they could defend the country. Too  bad they simply ran away, leaving the ordnance behind and giving the Taliban a free gift.

Second paragraph. You are admitting you do not know who supplied the money. I know who supplied it. It was and is common knowledge. So, you need to do a bit of research so you will know.

Should we have gone after the country that supplied the money?

Afghanistan was harboring Osama Bin Laden...all intelligence reported for over 18 months pointed to them. Pakistan, too, was hiding hiim. Where the attackers came from in unimportant...where the mastermind and money trail led to was far more important. You should know that by now...but again, why should I expect you to use deductive reasoning? You've done so little of it in the past communications I've had with you. I see you're still trying to deflect and introduce irrelevant, leftist theories. You'll never learn.

And where did the money come from?

  21. Sure, China likes to see us with a blackeye and problems. But with the Taliban in control this creates problems for China. The Western part of China is filled with non-Han Muslims who hate the Han Chinese. They now have friends in Afghanistan who probably will help them cause trouble. The two countries have a 57 mile common boarder. Both the Taliban and al-Qaeda will probably cause problems for China.

    From the article:

There are two possible scenarios with extreme possibilities, said Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization.

One is that the Taliban embraces reform and peace, and the other is that the Taliban reverts to its old ways — to what it was 20 years ago, Gao told CNBC Tuesday.

“That will constitute a lot of threat to the people in Afghanistan, but also to neighboring countries and regions like China’s Xinjiang region, for example, and put many people in harm’s way.”

  22. 30 minutes ago, BrotherTony said:

So, instead of going after the Taliban, Isis and Al Quada we should have just let the attacks on 9/11 go....I see. We should have gone in with the ONE objective of ending these groups permanently and finding Osama Bin Laden and taking him out, then getting out. We shouldn't be nation building. Seems like lately we can't take care of our own nation, and allowing the Taliban to take back over in the capital of Afghanistan is just more proof of this administrations failed policies...At least the previous admiistration had a more measured response to leaving on a timely basis.

Did any of the terrorists on 9/11 come from Afghanistan?

Why didn't we go after the country where the majority were from?
