  1. Other large companies could soon be following Delta Air Lines (DAL) down the runway in charging workers who don't get vaccinated for COVID-19, says the CEO of one of the largest payrolls and HR services companies. Paychex CEO Marty Mucci tells Yahoo Finance Live companies he talks with are actively discussing whether to change their health care premiums, offering different versions for those people who are unvaccinated. It is also something Mucci is debating himself within his own company. Mucci has been CEO of Paychex for nearly 10 years. "We are looking at it because the cost is very high. You can talk about whether to mandate the vaccinations or not for your employees. You need to be able to say there are consequences. There are costs that come with not being vaccinated. I think Delta made the comment that the average hospital stay for someone not vaccinated is like $50,000. You don't want to spread that to all of your employees. So you have to find ways — just like smoking and non-smoking — ways to try to get the possible cost as fair as you can to your employees to keep your rates down for health insurance," Mucci explained. https://www.aol.com/finance/delta-air-lines-could-1st-164732291.html
  2. "Carrier War: World War II" by Stephen Sears. A concisely written American Heritage book. Well written with human interest events included.
  3. I fondly remember Art Linkletter's radio program. He always finished with five minutes or so asking kids questions. One of his favorite questions was, "What did your mother tell you not to tell today." He got wonderful, funny answers, ones the probably embarrassed many mothers.
  4. The author did not like the title, but he had no control over that aspect of the book. Reggie is an African American who earned his Ph.D. at Fuller Theological Seminary. I indexed the book for him. At the Baptist church in Harlem was where Bonhoeffer was introduced to the 'suffering Jesus' and how an oppressed people respond to Him. This turned Bonhoeffer's theology, seemingly, 180 degrees. The book, The Cost of Discipleship, was published in 1937. I believe Bonhoeffer's statement "Salvation is free, but discipleship will cost you your life." When he wrote that I do not know if he was thinking of our physical life or our personal, selfish life. I tend to think the latter. For Bonhoeffer it turned out to be both, personal and physical life. Another line that shook me and influenced my life is: Only he who believes is obedient and only he who is obedient believes.
  5. BT, "The Cost of Discipleship" had a big impact on my life as a Christian. In 1930 he spent a year studying at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. During that year he attended the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. It was there he was introduced to the concepts that led him to see the rising Hitler as an evil to be opposed. There is an excellent book on this era of his life by Reggie Williams. Don't let the title put you off. The publisher insisted on the title which is "Bonhoeffer's Black Jesus." The book explains how Bonhoeffer's theology was influenced by the year he attended the Abyssinian Baptist Church which led to his returning to Germany and opposing Hitler.
  6. Please supply a quote from "The Cost of Discipleship" that supports saved by works. Thanks. To me there are a number of powerful quote in "The Cost of Discipleship." Two examples are: “Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: 'Ye were bought at a price', and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God.” ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” ― Deitrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship

  8. Hanlon's razor, "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
  9. You have to compare the dietary laws shown in the post above with Peter's vision of sheet with animals in Acts 11.
  10. Leviticus 11:3-12 King James Version 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. 4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you. 9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. 10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: 11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. 12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
  11. WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. judge on Wednesday sanctioned Sidney Powell and other lawyers who sued in Michigan to overturn Democratic President Joe Biden's election victory over Donald Trump, and suggested they might deserve to lose their law licenses. In a highly anticipated written ruling, U.S. District Judge Linda Parker in Detroit said the pro-Trump lawyers, including Powell and prominent litigator Lin Wood, should have investigated the Republican former president's voter fraud claims more carefully before suing. Parker formally requested that disciplinary bodies investigate whether the pro-Trump lawyers should have their law licenses revoked. The judge also ordered the lawyers to attend classes on the ethical and legal requirements for filing legal claims, and to reimburse election officials for expenses incurred defending the lawsuit. https://news.yahoo.com/judge-sanctions-sidney-powell-other-220308680.html
  12. I have read the Jewish dietary laws were written in the 6th century BC. I do now know when they came into practice in that culture. My guess is some centuries before they were written down. Genesis 9:3 gives permission to eat meat. KJV of Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
  13. No, many companies charge smokers more for their health insurance. Why should people who do not smoke have to pay for the increased cost of smokers health care. Same with people who will not be vaccinated. 98+ of the patients in hospitals with COVID are unvaccinated. Why should those who are saving their companies money by being vaccinated be punished by have to help those who refuse to help themselves?
  14. The company is probably just trying to cover its increase in health care insurance cost.
  15. I fully expect other companies to institute a similar policy, get the jab or pay more for your health insurance. Enough is enough: Delta Air Lines is leveraging the XXXX healthcare plan to get employees vaccinated. If you want to work on their planes, and you’re on their health insurance, you’ll have to get the jab or pay $200 a month. https://gizmodo.com/delta-air-lines-will-make-unvaccinated-employees-pay-2-1847556666 Don't faint, I agree with BT. Also, no one can make a microchip so small it would exit a needle into the body.
  16. Events like that make you either laugh or cry …. or both.
  17. Jenning’s Corollary The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down is in direct proportion to the cost of the carpet.
  18. I doubt you 80% as the 45.2% of the people have been vaccinated as of Aug. 24th. That's up from 42% on August 11th. And, I expect more than 45.2 percent are in favor of wearing masks. If you go shopping where I live it is rare to see a person without a mask.
  19. Rutherford County Schools saw student COVID-19 cases increase from 70 on Aug. 13 to 500 this past week, records show. The K-12 district also reported 1,607 student quarantines this past week out of a fast-growing enrollment of 48,754 students at 50 schools, according to the district's online COVID-19 dashboard, which was updated on Monday. Rutherford County Board of Education Chairman Coy Young said the district needs more parents to encourage their children to wear masks to help reduce the spread of the virus and avoid possible school closures that occurred in past year.
  20. You just can't help yourself, can you? Well, I have ask you several questions today and you have yet to answer one.
  21. As Ronald Reagan said, "There you go again."
  22. I thought you are a law and order man. I see you are resorting to abusive posts again.
  23. No. Your refusal to answer answers all I need to know.
  24. Well, just answer my question please. Should we have gone after the country that supplied the money?
  25. Interesting. Jesus often answered a question with a question. Are you saying Jesus did not understand? Read: Matthew 9: 14-15 Matthew 15: 1-3, 15:32-34, Matthew 17:24-26 Matthew 21:16 Matthew 26:6-10 Mark 2:1-11 Mark 4: 10, 13 Mark 7:17-18 Mark 10:2-3 Mark 12:14-17 Mark 12: 18, 20-24 Luke 2:48-49 Luke 6:1-3 Luke 10:25-26 Luke 10: 29. 36 Luke 12:41-43 Luke 18:18-19 Luke 24:17-19 John 3:4, 10 John 6:60-71 John 8:3-10 John 11:8-10 John 13:37-38 John 18:22-23 John 18:33-34 John 21:20-22
