  1. Totally untrue. If it were true 99% of those hospitalized with COVID were not be the unvaccinated. But over 99% are unvaccinated.
  2. The earth is very old. The Bible is not meant and never was meant to be a science book.
  3. It is interesting to me that many who think the shot that has proven effective is dangerous are trusting and taking an untested, unproven animal deworming drug.

  6. They probably didn't know and not knowing didn't care.
  7. Thanks for an excellent post. I you look up Panjshir Valley on Google Earth it is easy to see why it is such a difficult area to invade. I remember reading how a Russian tank convey entered the area. When it reached a point, on the narrow road with a steep drop off one side and the cliff of the mountain on the other side the defenders used Stinger missiles. They knocked out the last tank and then the first. This trapped the other tanks. There was no way to go forward or retreat. The defenders then picked off all the other tanks. A disaster for the Russians.
  8. If you are yearning for the good old days, just turn off the air conditioning.
  9. I have no idea what you mean by idolatry. I would appreciate your answering my questions.
  10. Vaccines do not make the virus stronger. That is incorrect myth. People going unvaccinated allows viruses to become stronger and mutate into variants that may be worse than the originals.
  11. Then why in the world were we there. Rudyard Kipling wrote in his poem The Naulahkaabout about Afghanistan and the East: Now it is not good for the Christian's health to hustle the Aryan brown, For the Christian riles, and the Aryan smiles and he weareth the Christian down; And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of the late deceased, And the epitaph drear: "A Fool lies here who tried to hustle the East."

  13. You are correct. Dictatorship can occur in both directions. The Baptist church I attend went to a consensus program in our business meetings. A majority cannot rule. We do not vote. We simply say, "Is there a consensus?" So far it has worked well. Ours is a very lay-led church and that has worked well also. And during worship it is not just adults who are included. We used kids for various tasks, such as taking up the offering and when older reading scripture.
  14. Afghanistan is not a country in the way we think of countries. It is a geographical area comprised of a number of tribes. Many of the tribes do not like the other tribes. Historically when there is no outside armies to fight they fight each other. We have seen that already beginning. The Panjshir Valley is located just over 30 miles from Kabul. The Soviets could not take it in the 1980's. The Taliban could not take it in the 1990's. I doubt that we even tried. It is long narrow complex of valleys with only one narrow road entering through a narrow entrance. There will be no peace in Afghanistan. Below is an interesting article: Several thousand anti-Taliban fighters are reported to be holding out against the Taliban in a remote valley with a narrow entrance - little more than 30 miles or so from the capital Kabul. It's not the first time the dramatic and imposing Panjshir Valley has been a flashpoint in Afghanistan's recent turbulent history - having been a stronghold against Soviet forces in the 1980s, and the Taliban in the '90s. The group holding out there now - the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) - recently reminded the world of the valley's strength. "The Red Army, with its might, was unable to defeat us... And the Taliban also 25 years ago... they tried to take over the valley and they failed, they faced a crushing defeat," Ali Nazary, the NRF's head of foreign relations, told the BBC. https://www.yahoo.com/news/afghanistan-undefeated-valley-hour-kabul-233804699.html
  15. Plagiarism would bother me. If he is also a wanna be dictator, that would bother me more.
  16. Martyr, I am curious. Do you go to a doctor if you are not well or for an annual checkup? Do you take any prescription medications? Have you ever had surgery?
  17. The last I read was the White House is considering making it a requirement for all federal employees to be vaccinated. So, my guess is that to work in the White House a person does not have to be vaccinated. They may have to take weekly tests. Where I live the unvaccinated staff have to take weekly tests.
  18. Other large companies could soon be following Delta Air Lines (DAL) down the runway in charging workers who don't get vaccinated for COVID-19, says the CEO of one of the largest payrolls and HR services companies. Paychex CEO Marty Mucci tells Yahoo Finance Live companies he talks with are actively discussing whether to change their health care premiums, offering different versions for those people who are unvaccinated. It is also something Mucci is debating himself within his own company. Mucci has been CEO of Paychex for nearly 10 years. "We are looking at it because the cost is very high. You can talk about whether to mandate the vaccinations or not for your employees. You need to be able to say there are consequences. There are costs that come with not being vaccinated. I think Delta made the comment that the average hospital stay for someone not vaccinated is like $50,000. You don't want to spread that to all of your employees. So you have to find ways — just like smoking and non-smoking — ways to try to get the possible cost as fair as you can to your employees to keep your rates down for health insurance," Mucci explained. https://www.aol.com/finance/delta-air-lines-could-1st-164732291.html
  19. "Carrier War: World War II" by Stephen Sears. A concisely written American Heritage book. Well written with human interest events included.
  20. I fondly remember Art Linkletter's radio program. He always finished with five minutes or so asking kids questions. One of his favorite questions was, "What did your mother tell you not to tell today." He got wonderful, funny answers, ones the probably embarrassed many mothers.
  21. The author did not like the title, but he had no control over that aspect of the book. Reggie is an African American who earned his Ph.D. at Fuller Theological Seminary. I indexed the book for him. At the Baptist church in Harlem was where Bonhoeffer was introduced to the 'suffering Jesus' and how an oppressed people respond to Him. This turned Bonhoeffer's theology, seemingly, 180 degrees. The book, The Cost of Discipleship, was published in 1937. I believe Bonhoeffer's statement "Salvation is free, but discipleship will cost you your life." When he wrote that I do not know if he was thinking of our physical life or our personal, selfish life. I tend to think the latter. For Bonhoeffer it turned out to be both, personal and physical life. Another line that shook me and influenced my life is: Only he who believes is obedient and only he who is obedient believes.
  22. BT, "The Cost of Discipleship" had a big impact on my life as a Christian. In 1930 he spent a year studying at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. During that year he attended the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. It was there he was introduced to the concepts that led him to see the rising Hitler as an evil to be opposed. There is an excellent book on this era of his life by Reggie Williams. Don't let the title put you off. The publisher insisted on the title which is "Bonhoeffer's Black Jesus." The book explains how Bonhoeffer's theology was influenced by the year he attended the Abyssinian Baptist Church which led to his returning to Germany and opposing Hitler.
