  1. How many of the vaccinated ended up in the hospital va. how many unvaccinated ended up in a hospital in MA?
  2. I read an article on this topic and was wondering what you and others felt. People who smoke pay more for health insurance. Drivers with bad records have to pay more for car insurance. I have not made up my mind on this one yet. So, help me. Why should they not pay more? Here is a paragraph from one article I read. "Thus, the unvaccinated will drive up health care costs for everyone. Perhaps a better incentive for vaccination would be to place the unvaccinated in separate insurance risk pools or to impose a surcharge on their health insurance premiums." https://signalscv.com/2021/06/jim-de-bree-unvaccinated-and-insurance-costs/ Should risk pools be allowed?
  3. Brother Tony, my question is not about the vaccine. Rather it is about should the unvaccinated have to pay higher insurance premiums as they are 99.7% of the people in the hospital with COVID. The unvaccinated will run up costs of about 8 billion this year. That could have been reduced by 99% with vaccinations. Is it fair to charge the vaccinated higher premiums to support those who refuse to be vaccinated.
  4. Off topic friend. The question is about covering the cost. 99+% of patients in the hospital and are unvaccinated and are running up huge bills. Should the people who got the vaccine have to bare the cost of increased health care premiums helping those who would not get sick and have to go to the hospital if they got their vaccination. Or should the unvaccinated have their health care premiums raised as they are, by far, the most likely to become ill, hospitalized and run up large bills?
  5. 99.7% of all new COVID cases are unvaccinated people and are costing huge amounts of money. Should the cost of health insurance for the unvaccinated be raised to cover the cost?
  6. “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” ― Issac Asimov
  7. To me, yes, it puts a huge hindrance to your witness for Christ as it shows you do not really care about others.
  8. No, the principle is the same. I understand. You and I are Americans. We place great importance on individual rights. But sometimes the good of the majority must take precedence over the individual. You are much less likely to have you health harmed from the vaccination than in catching COVID. Regardless, the madidates are coming. It is simply a matter of time. https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-vaccine-mandates-support-health-workers-4055b559-6d32-4824-a2a0-976e483c8d6a.html State governments, private businesses and even part of the federal government are suddenly embracing mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for their employees. I find it hard to believe that you simply do not care about others enough to get vaccinated. It is safe.
  9. Does not matter. The principle is the same. To protect the populace as a whole others should either be isolated or forced to be given the vaccine or be tested weekly. It is not an abuse of power to protect the majority. Where is your concern for others. Show me where in the Bible it says to put self above all others? It is not a Nazi takeover. Do you not believe the Bible gives us indications on how we are to live and help or protect others?
  10. Of course the government should either require people take the vaccine or get checked weekly. After all, people with communicable diseases in the Bible were forced to isolate themselves. Remember the lepers and how they had to keep away from others or announce their walking near people by calling out, "Unclean, unclean!" So, if it was approved in the Bible, why do you fight it? Leviticus 13:21, “But if the priest looks at it, and behold, there are no white hairs in it and it is not lower than the skin and is faded, then the priest shall isolate him for seven days;” Leviticus 13:46, “He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.” Numbers 5:2, “Command the sons of Israel that they send away from the camp every leper and everyone having a discharge and everyone who is unclean because of a dead person.” They didn't have COVID, but they tried to protect people who were sick and to protect the healthy from those who might make them sick. Typhoid Mary, Mary Mallon, was forced to isolate herself. She was quarantined for three years to keep her from infecting others.

  13. Making sense of the conservatives' sudden vaccine endorsements. https://www.aol.com/news/making-sense-conservatives-sudden-vaccine-150144007.html
  14. The problem is, as I see it, the continued refusal of answer questions and the continued finding ways to ignore the real topic. By the way, I am quite busy indexing a book with a short turn-around time. So I will not be replying quickly. In case you are curious the title of the book is, Basic Audiometric Learning Manual. 3rd edition.
  15. I would appreciate it if you would answer my questions instead of finding new rabbit tracks to misdirect the discussion.
  16. I beg to differ on the government. Show me where in the Bible it says we should not collectively, through our government, help the poor, the ill, etc., etc. On Matt. 25, I thought you were referring to the ten virgins. Please let me know what verses you are wanting to know about. I can give you my opinion, but I do not think you would accept it, thus I show backup. I wish you and others would do the same. Why do you think as you do? Where do your ideas come from. On social issues mine come from the example I see in Christ's the things I saw Christ do for others and his teachings. I realize that much of what Christ did and taught go against current USA culture.
  17. I do not see that Matt. 25 has any bearing on this topic. Enlighten me. But, I see it that the ten wise virgins were prepared to meet Christ the unwise ones were not. It has nothing, IMHO, about material possessions. It is a parable and oil is a metaphor for being prepared. Also, I realized I should have said that a person could write an article entitled, "You Cannot Serve God and the Democratic Party." It would be a different article with different points. That is why I say I do not owe allegiance to a particular political party. I look at the candidates and select the one that seems to be closest to the teachings of Christ. Do you agree?
  18. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Conservatives politicians almost always oppose any new or the improvement of programs in any of these areas. Trump budget proposals threatened to take away nutrition services for poor women and their children. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/16/trump-budget-wic-women-infants-children-nutrition Once they had control of Congress Republicans made cuts to WIC. In 2020 Republican politicians opposed improvements to the Food Stamp Program. https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-lawmaker-conaway-republicans-food-stamps-coronavirus-government-dependency-2020-5 A number of GOP controlled states cut emergency food assistance programs making it harder for the people in need to receive services. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/06/18/republican-states-restrict-snap-food-assistance-usda/ I agree with the title of the article entitled, "Christians Cannot Serve Both God and the GOP https://thehill.com/opinion/finance/459296-christians-cannot-serve-both-god-and-the-gop I won't quote from the article but believe you will ead the entire article. As Matther 2:26 says a Christian cannot serve God and mammon. We cannot serve to masters, God and the GOP. We serve one or the other as they are incompatible in their goals concerning people. Scripture on serving two masters, https://biblereasons.com/serving-two-masters/ And, remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus. The examples above are not exhaustive, but representative. Now, I am not saying that the Democrats are shining lights of virtue. But their policies on helping people come closer to Christ's teachings than the GOP stances. And, I am not saying that people do not abuse the system. That will always happen. But, in my own personal life if I help someone and they abuse that help that is on their head, not mine. I also realize that is preachers began preaching God over mammon, really preaching it they would be fired. This puts the pastor in a very difficult position. An extremely wise preacher might be able to gradually move his congregation away from mammon. It would be very difficult and would take a long time. So, I do not necessarily vote for a party. I vote for the person whom I believe will most likely support programs that help people as taught by Jesus. I know many will disagree with me.
  19. The doctor told her because regular COVID tests do not check for a variant. They will tell you if you have COVID, but not which variant. The variant identification requires genomic sequencing, a process separate from regular virus tests and one that not all labs are able to do or do not do on a routine basis for patient care but are done more for public health monitoring. https://www.lung.org/blog/covid-19-delta-variant
  20. This made me start thinking of other books that influenced me. For instance, Keith Miller's "Taste of New Wine." "The 7 Last Words of the Church. 'We've Never Done It That Way Before.' Can't remember the author. "Include Me Out" ... can't remember the authro. "Cost of Discipleship" by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. "Letters and Papers From Prison," by Bonhoeffer. "Renew My Church," by David Haney. "A Shepherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm", can't remember the author. "The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life," by Hannah Whitall Smith. "The Practice of the Presence of God," by Brother Lawrence. You can download this book free from https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5657 Brother Lawrence lived in the 17th century I know there are others and if I think of them I'll pass them on to you. Wow, it has been up to 50 years since I read some of those books/.
  21. Decades ago I made the mistake of reading the ingredients on the side of a potted mean can. I have not dared to eat it again.
  22. You probably will have to search for them on Amazon. I am sure they are all out of print. You should be able to find used ones at a moderate price.
  23. I read reviews on this book on "Good Reads." It sounds like a good book, similar to the writings of Caryle Marney, Elton Trueblood and others back in the 1960's and what became the "Lay Renewal" movement. My wife and I were quite involved and worked with Reid Hardin, Dave Haney, and others. I would suggest those interested in 'lay renewal' to look into Truebloods "Yokefellows." If you can lay your hands on Trueblood's "The Incendiary Fellowship" or "The Company of the Committed" you should read them. The same is true with Carlyle Marney's "Priests To Each Other," and "The Coming Faith." Lyman Coleman's booklets to use in small groups are very good. The laity are the hope for Christianity in America.
