  1. I agree with you that Clinton and JFK were immoral, but they was small time folk compared to Trump. Trump has been married 3 times. There are a number of known adulterous affairs. No one know how many others there are. Nineteen women have accused Trump of sexual harrassment. It is well known that Trump had a close association with "Fat Tony" Salerno, the mobster who controlled the concrete industry in New York City. If Trump had not been compromised and cooperated with "Fat Tony" his NYC buildings were never have been built. No concrete, no building. Trump had a close association with the Philadelphia gangster, Philip Testa. Trump Plaza was specifically mentioned when Salerno was charged with rigging construction bids. Salerno had arranged things with Trump concerning concrete needed for the project. Over 10,000 lies were documented that he told while president. It is well know that Trump uses undocumented, illegal Polish workers in Florida. The list of his immorality and criminal activity goes on and on. He should be named "Teflon" Don.
  2. And it began with Roald Reagan and hit trickle down economics. It is strange, he said that the government saved his family during the depression of the 1930s, but as president he did not support the government helping people. Indeed, he said our problem is government. Such a strange turn around, biting the hand that saved his parents and himself.
  3. "You bring people down so that you can rise up, you obviously do not know how to soar." – To the people who point their fingers to others so to hide their deficiencies” ― Lamine Pearlheart, Aether
  4. “It’s funny: I always imagined when I was a kid that adults had some kind of inner toolbox full of shiny tools: the saw of discernment, the hammer of wisdom, the sandpaper of patience. But then when I grew up I found that life handed you these rusty bent old tools – friendships, prayer, conscience, honesty – and said ‘do the best you can with these, they will have to do.’ And mostly, against all odds, they do.” Anne Lamott
  5. Lindsay Graham. “I started having flu-like symptoms Saturday night and went to the doctor this morning,” the South Carolina Republican tweeted Monday afternoon after receiving the diagnosis. “I feel like I have a sinus infection and at present time I have mild symptoms,” Graham wrote, adding, “I am very glad I was vaccinated because without vaccination I am certain I would not feel as well as I do now. My symptoms would be far worse.”
  6. Jim, I did not think I was slamming all Christians. But all Christians should learn a lesson from his being driven away from Christ by Christians. It is a tragic story.
  7. No, I am making no defense of Gandhi. The story about why he did not become a Christian has been published numerous times. It should be a lesson to all of us that our actions can be very harmful. All that I posted is well known.
  8. The thread is about Trump, so you are guilty. Stay on the subject and you will look better. I expect you voted for Trump, the most immoral person to ever run for or be president.
  9. In your sentence that began, "You're supporting a man who has taken money from..."
  10. Oh, I don't support Trump. But even he did something right. To me he will go down as the poorest president in our history. I posted a link to the article to show I can given credit where it is due. Tump is a man to be pitied. In time I expect he will go to jail. You see BT, I am not a blind, one issue person.
  11. Six questions that will probably be answered with Tump's taxes revealed. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/02/politics/donald-trump-taxes-irs-congress/index.html How rich or poor is he? How much money does he owe and to who? Are there indications of ties to Russia? Is there any indication of organized crime activity? Does he donate to charity? Should be interesting.
  12. More than 99.99% of people fully vaccinated against Covid-19 have not had a breakthrough case resulting in hospitalization or death, according to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The data highlights what leading health experts across the country have highlighted for months: Covid-19 vaccines are very effective at preventing serious illness and death from Covid-19 and are the country’s best shot at slowing the pandemic down and avoiding further suffering. Divide those severe breakthrough cases by the total fully vaccinated population for the result: less than 0.004% of fully vaccinated people had a breakthrough case that led to hospitalization and less than 0.001% of fully vaccinated people died from a breakthrough Covid-19 case. Most of the breakthrough cases – about 74% – occurred among adults 65 or older. https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/31/health/fully-vaccinated-people-breakthrough-hospitalization-death/index.html
  13. You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do. Anne Lamott
  14. I do not at all understand the mystery of grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us. Anne Lamott
  15. Country music has always included gospel music. Here is an album of country gospel music. https://www.pandora.com/artist/various-artists/country-gospel-greats/ALZZzvqv5jv5jt6 And here is one of the most beautiful songs. It was a slave song included in a collection of songs and published in Slave Songs of the United States in 1867. Pretty much forgotten it was revived in the movie, "Oh,Brother, Where Art Thou?"
  16. The most contrarian thing of all is not to oppose the crowd but to think for yourself. Peter Thiel
  17. Moving back to Galatians 3:2, the question remains for us to answer – are we doing good works expecting to win God’s favor (and perhaps mankind’s?), or through love because of His gift? Works do not save, but works show your faith. From the 2nd chapter of Timothy: [17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. ... [26] For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
  18. There's a fine line between a stream of consciousness and a babbling brook to nowhere. Dan Harmon
  19. I forgot to say that country music to be country music, unless it is an instrumental and some religious hymns, must tell a story. Examples: Uncle Pen The Wreck of the Old 97 There are songs that most folk on the board have never heard of and know nothing about. One is "Train 45," another is "Cumberland Gap." These instrumentals are demanding on the fiddle player. Speaking of fiddle players I doubt anyone on the board has ever heard of "Lost" John Ray. In the Appalachian Mountains he was a mythical figure, unmatched by those who made tons of money recording in Nashville. Watch the following video all the way through. Don't let his looks put you off. The video was taken at his home in the mountains of North Carolina. These mountain people viewed the world in black and white, good or wrong. There was no gray areas. If they liked you they would give you the last biscuit in the house and go hungry themselves. If they did not like you, well it was best to leave them alone.
  20. Getting back to the original question. I do not believe a person can say that all country and western or rock music is wrong. To me it depends on the words. I know there is an area called Christian Rock. However, that is an area of which I am ignorant and hope others will talk about those songs. With country and western, to me it depends on the words. There are bad and/or immoral C&W songs. An example is Conway Twitty's "You've never been this far before." There are funny C&W songs, such as, "Does Your Chewing Gum Loose its Flavor on the Bedpost Over Night. or "I don't look good naked anymore" The very old country song "Oh Suzanna" has funny lines such as "it was so hot I froze to death." There are good advice songs such as the Carter Family's "Look on the sunny side." There are beautiful instrumentals, such as, "Foggy Mountain Breakdown," "Orange Blossom Special," "Dueling Banjos" to name a few. There are sad songs, such as "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Monday Morning Church," "Old Shep," "God's Will," and "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine." "If You're Reading This." Just a few of many. There are country spiritual songs, such as, "I Saw God Today," "Believe", and "Jesus, Take the Wheel." Just 3 of many. Of course there are the classic Christian hymns that are often played and sung in country and western music converts, such as, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Amazing Grace," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." There are many more. I could go on and on, but you get my drift. All country and western music cannot be lumped as bad.
