James Knox hardly ever raises his voice in preaching. It is just good, steady, doctrinal truth. He is expository, which is always great to see a pattern over a number of messages as he goes through book after book.

Baptist_Bible_Believer got a reaction from Alan in Happy New Year.
"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV).
Always an appropriate verse for a new year!
By God's grace I'm hoping to start and maintain a daily devotion which we can call "Profiting From Proverbs." You are all welcome to add to it. Isn't it amazing that the Book of Proverbs has 31 chapters, and that there is generally 31 days in a month? You think God had something to do with that? Let's read a chapter a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository that may serve busy preachers and teachers for the work of their ministries. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! I'm sure that with all the preachers posting here, there will be some hearty meat on the table!

Baptist_Bible_Believer got a reaction from Miss Daisy in Why do some Baptist pastors talk about other churches instead of concentrating on the Holy Bible?
While no preacher, in my opinion, should go to seed with exposing bad eggs, as there is an immeasurable storehouse of good worth teaching in the Word, he still has a God-given duty to "mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. (Romans 16:17 KJV). There is plenty of error in the feel-good, social club churches that needs to be warned about. The Joel Osteen's of the world need to be exposed for the charlatans that they are.
At the same time, the preacher also should "mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample" (Philippians 3:17 KJV). Talk about other good churches and the great work they are doing under the leadership of brother so-and-so. Talk about the good ministries of missionaries serving on foreign soil. Remind the folks of their prayer needs and brag on their victories.
God is looking for a balance and it should always be remembered that, "A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight" (Proverbs 11:1 KJV). Preachers are enjoined to preach the "whole counsel of God," and not just a few hobby horses.

Baptist_Bible_Believer got a reaction from Scott Lyons in Calvinism or Arminianism? How do you answer?
Amen! I prefer the designation of Biblicist as well. It rather sums it all up pretty nicely.
