  1. Well, I was a bit younger when I made that site . . . now I'm old enough where homegoing isn't going to be so much to go. When the Lord calls, unless He makes other arrangements the site will no doubt disappear. I've been supporting it myself. I ran out of room on my site so I posted a few books on a different site that has since gone under.

  2. On the devotional page I keep getting this message right after I post something and then go back and try to edit it. I can't get the devotion for Profiting With Proverbs to work since yesterday.

This comment can no longer be edited. It may have been moved or deleted, or too much time may have passed since it was posted for it to be edited.

  3. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again" (Philippians 1:21-26 KJV).

  4. "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" (II Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV).

  5. >>>The mind of the natural man is “a reprobate mind”<<<

I agree with your statement here.

I do not believe that the "natural man" is simply an unsaved person that can't understand the Bible. I have a small study where I connect him to the man in Romans 1 who has rejected the Creator for the creature and worships the things of nature. He is the scoffer, not the simple lost man that hasn't heard the gospel explained yet. He is the man that has heard the gospel, rejects it, and now hates it.

  6. Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses . . . that very sober warning is found in other verses as well. You have it in the Law, the poetic books, and the New Testament. God covered the base!

Proverbs 30:5-6 - Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Deuteronomy 4:2 - Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 - What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Matthew 5:18 - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

In other words, don't mess with the Word if'n you knows whats good fer ya!

  7. Yep, I did an online search but it was pretty sketchy . . . even had one for Calminian Baptists.

So, I wonder if they take the bad stuff of Calvinism and the good stuff of Arminianism, or the bad stuff of Arminianism and the good stuff of Calvinism?

More likely it is the bad stuff from both since there isn't a whole lot of good.

All the Calvinists are pretty proud of the fact that they were picked, no, hand-picked, by God because they were better than all those publicans. What need of grace do they even have?

  8. I start with Genesis. If the Garden of Eden is presented as the mythological story of Adam and Eve, I pass. Then I look at Isaiah 7:14 and if the virgin birth is discounted as simply the story of a young woman of marrying age, I pass. I don't believe that they were all hopeless heretics, but I do pass on anything from the German school of rationalism. Actually, the older I get the more I am inclined just to read and believe my King James Bible.

  9. I touched on this in my daily devotional, Profiting From Proverbs, today where it says:

"I find it utterly amazing that most of the “higher critics” of the Bible are themselves unredeemed men that denied many of the essential doctrines of the Bible. How is it possible that men, devoid of the Holy Spirit, should assume the responsibility to correct and manipulate the Bible to fit into their theological system—when the primary requirement for even understanding John 3:16 is that very same Spirit Whom they know not of?"

Granted, men like Barnes knew the Lord--but they were sure shaky when it comes to dispensationalism and premillennialism.

  10. "But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also" (Acts 17:5-6 KJV).
