Gud4U got a reaction from Salyan in Online Baptist KJV BIble College / University
    Hi, greetings all ?
i've got a humble suggestion for all churches:
i propose the kind pastors teach everyone to recite the Bible beautifully, especially the pastors themselves need to be able to recite the verses correctly and clearly.
It is heartbreaking to watch some pastors on YouTube just run through the verses without giving nor showing any sense and feeling from what they read. If you are short of time, do not save it by running through the text, if you are so short of time, why are you doing this in the first place? If you need to read the text, pay the text its respect, and read calmly and beautifully, let it sink in the listeners and your audience. Otherwise, what is the point????
How can one expect to move the multitudes when the reciter is sans feeling?
i strongly recommend everyone to at least listen to Mr Alexander Scournby's recordings, he is not perfect, but he is the best there is, hope someone will better him soon.
There are dramatised recordings, i do not recommend them, for one, they are not the KJV, and when something is dramatised, it's the view point of the director, not the book.
Have a better day and bless your hearts,
    Totoo

    Dear Alan,
i am very grateful for your kindness.
i totally understand and can identify and i apologise. i did not mean to say the good Pastor was wrong, mistypes and misprints happen all the time, but as i confessed to John, i have been too stupid to believe, and i hope you will pardon me for that and for my impatience.
i will try harder and again, many thanks for your feedback and assistance.
    Bless your hearts,

    Brother Totoo,
After my salvation experience I only had a New Testament.  In my upbringing we did not go to church, we did not have a Bible in the house, and, like my father which I followed to a ' T ' I was basically agnostic.
One of my fellow airmen (I was in the Air Force at the time), invited me to go to church so I went with him. So, one day after I started to go to church, with only my New Testament, the pastor mentioned to turn to one of the minor prophets (I forgot which one), and I looked in my New Testament table of contents and could not find the book. So, in my mind I thought that the pastor made a mistake as there was not the book mentioned. So, after fumbling around in the New Testament trying to find what kind of mistake the pastor made I finally turned to my friend and in a whisper I said something like, "I think he (the pastor), mentioned to go to the wrong book as I cannot find the book." My friend took the New Testament out of my hand to look ( and thankfully very politely), somewhat said, "the problem is not with the pastor it is with you. You do not have a complete Bible. The book the  prophet mentioned is in the Old Testament." At first I did not know what he meant by "Old Testament," but the Lord gave me some grace and after the service was over I asked my friend to explain more fully and help me.
I learned some valuable lessons that one Sunday morning. (1) I need to get an Old Testament. (2) I was very ignorant concerning very basic bible knowledge. (3) Not to criticize a pastor unless I have all the facts in order. (4) To hold my tongue. (5) To ask advice.
God bless you in your journey of learning the scriptures.
    Alan

I agree with the David Cloud recommendation.
    He has Pdf material available.
However, most of Brother Sargent's material is also available as pdf. If you contact him direct and explain your situation I am sure he can help you out.
Both of these men have good conservative Bible material.

I'm sure that book would be generally good but I have not read it.

Also because it comes from "bible.org" it will probably not be using the King James Bible but their version called the "New English Translation" or "NET Bible" as a short name. The "NET bible" is an online "contentiously updated" version of the bible that also cross references many study materials to the bible passage you are reading at the time. Many like it because of the study feature and its ability to quickly be updated to reflect the latest and greatest in scholastic discoveries. The problem with this is that their bible is always changing depending on who is in charge and what the culture pressures them to change at the time. It also becomes too easy to rely on the study material to tell you what the bible says rather than doing the study work yourself. Which may be quicker learning at times but also causes errors of the teacher to be passed down to the student and will be hard to unlearn later when you find the mistake.

Modern bible versions encourage the mindset that the "original bible" has been lost so we must "find" and search for older manuscripts that are "closer" to the originals. Therefor, this idea has let to many new bible versions that are contentiously updated and changed. However the bible teaches that God has preserved the bible and has entrusted it to faithful men to pass down to us today and that we will pass it to the next generations (Psalm 12:6-7, 2 Timothy 2:2) . The King James Bible is translated from the faithful text and is considered to be a faithful English translation of what was passed down to us. Therefor our bible does not need to be changed and can be relied on to teach us the truth.

As you search online for study material, you will come across generally good teaching materials but if they use a bible different then the King James Bible then you will see that they ultimately do not rely on a faithful bible that was passed down for their teaching but believe the bible and doctrine can be changed based on what men can "discover" from places other than the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible must be the highest authority that changes us and should not be changed by lower authorities (Romans 13:1-2, Psalm 138:2). This goes for the study material we chose to use as well. The best study material will always bring you back to the bible in your study to find your answers. This is why I like the teaching material from www.baptistpublications.org.

The book I recommended can be ordered from this link http://www.baptistpublications.org/p/D-ABCB.html

I am not sure of how ordering it from China will work but if you are unable to get it then we can look around for an online alternative that might work.

    Totoo,
I haven't been able to remember nor find the source that I mentioned earlier. I'm sorry.
Like Alan, the thing that helped me the most as a new Christian was time alone in the Bible...allowing the Holy Spirit to teach me. I remember those days with such love.
Aside from that, one book that really helped me as a new Christian was "Wilmington's Guide to the Bible". A fellow believer (and his family) gave me that book back in 1990, and it was truly a blessing. Though Wilmington may not be considered to be in the same exact lines of belief as Independent Fundamental Baptists, his work in that book (at that time) was very sound. That book is like a simplified college course in Theology. I've tried to find it for free online so that I could send you the link, but all I can find are just a few pages...which are of no help. All that I can attest to is the book that I have from back then. I do know that there has been SEVERAL revisions since then, so I don't know anything about the newer versions.
I would be willing to send my copy to you, but I don't know how China handles things like that. Do they inspect packages that are sent by mail? Would you be arrested if you received such an item that is based on the Bible?

    Totoo,
I think that Pastor John Young has given you a good suggestion concerning http://www.baptistpublications.org/.
It is a very good suggestion and you start with it.
When I first trusted Christ as my Saviour I only had a New Testament and I read through that New Testament several times before I started to read the Old Testament and it seemed to help me in my Christian growth.
You mentioned Derek Prince. Derek Prince was a Charismatic preacher who taught bad doctrine. Derek Prince developed a Bible Study Course, and wrote a huge number of books. The organization that carries on his work uses the Bible Study Course to get new believers, and saints who want to grow, hooked into the Charismatic doctrines and to promote the selling of Derek Princes books. Quite frankly, it is a money generating machine designed to deceive. I cannot advise signing up for the Derek Prince Bible Course.
Glad to hear that you are very interested in studying the scriptures. Again, I think it would benefit your Christian growth to follow John Young's suggestion.
    God bless!
    Alan

Some of the best Fundamental Baptist Bible study material that I know of can be gotten from www.baptistpublications.org . It is a ministry out of Bible Baptist Church of Oak Harbor Washington Pastored by Brother Robert Sargent. They do not have an "online course" but they do have material showing local churches how to start their own Bible Institutes (http://www.baptistpublications.org/INST.html). Their source material is also set up for new believers to be mentored by an older believer in the faith. They have their teaching material organised in three groups "Basic Discipleship" (The ABC's of Christian GROWTH), "Advanced discipleship" (The ABC's of Christian MATURITY) and "Institute curriculum". In all the cost for materials is around $500, which can be bought a little at a time and is well worth the price and will provide many years worth of productive study. I can't think of it right now, but I am aware of something like you're describing. Hopefully, it will come to my mind soon.
I just wanted to let you know that we are trying to help you.
I can't remember your church situation, but I would imagine that it's a precarious situation in China.

    Dear Alan,
Bless your heart, you have done a great job down there.
Also thank you so much for the link and details, however i am not Chinese, although i do live here, my Mandarin is very limited and i mainly communicate in English or Persian (my mother tongue).
Not being able to speak Chinese (Mandarin) i have been trying to find an online Bible course, which brings me to this question, do we have a Bible course on this website? If not, wouldn't be great to start one, and if yes, i have missed it ?
Best wishes, and may the Lord Himself bless your heart,

No Nicolaitans said, "Perhaps Alan (who is a missionary to Thailand) can be of more assistance."
Although I was in Thailand during the Vietnam War (as I mentioned a long time ago), we are missionaries to Taiwan. Attached is the You Tube Channel, "Blessings From heaven," from the church that we founded, Victory Baptist Church, Hua Lien, Taiwan, with messages, Bible studies, singing, in English and Chinese. We will be leaving soon for furlough, so our recently ordained assistant, Chinese,  pastor, will be uploading more materials (in Chinese only), as he can, in the future.
The above video is a welcome from Pastor Job Gwoh, in Mandarin Chinese.

Can I encourage you to try ever preacher or teacher against the Word of God. Whether it is live preaching, on line preaching, books, or college course, don't simply accept anybody's teaching, but test it and study it from God's Word.
    Look at Acts 17
10  And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Note that these were more noble because they searched the scriptures testing whether the preaching of Paul was correct.
Paul was an apostle, used of God to write about half the New Testsment. If it was ok to check that Paul was preaching it right then you can be sure it is ok for you check anybody else.

Greetings, and thanks for your kind reply, care and time, No Nicolaitans,
Right, i have no idea so i asked, i understand teachers can be leading people in the right path or God forbid, mislead them.
I am not looking for a degree in theology or anything, i am just trying to get more familiar with the Bible and get to understand the Good Book better, so i thought taking an online course would help.
i have been trying to follow our good friends here who give sermons and kindly post their videos on YouTube, but that does not fully satisfy my needs, i think i would like to spend the time to search and find answers by myself through guidance, rather than be told what is what without any requirement from my part other than listening and then agreeing with what was said during a sermon, i hope i am not offending anyone here, that is all good for people who are too busy and too occupied to study the Bible for themselves and of course they get to enjoy being at the physical church which is a great blessing.
    Bless your heart,
    Totoo

Hi Totoo! I hope you're doing well friend. ?
I'm not familiar with that school/course. I graduated from on online college (Andersonville Theological Seminary) in 2009. At that time, it was pretty trustworthy; however, I can't speak for it now. At the time, they used the King James Version...and though there were things that I personally disagreed with in one of the courses...all-in-all...it was a blessing. At that time, it cost me $100 down to begin and $50 per month until I graduated...not sure of the costs today. At that time, students could go through the courses at their own pace.
All of that to say this...
I somewhat know your situation; in that, you are in a predicament in attending a solid church (China). Perhaps Alan (who is a missionary to Thailand) can be of more assistance. When I have time, I will look over the school that you have mentioned. I don't want to discourage you, yet at the same time, I want to warn you about choosing a course without first being grounded in God's word yourself. Learning God's word is exciting...and in our haste and expectation to learn more, we can often jump in to something that we shouldn't. With that said, please wait until others have given their input on this situation and this course. Again...I don't want to discourage you...I just want to make sure that you're making a wise choice. ?
    Okay...
A quick internet search returned this...
From what little I've read, John Ogwyn is the person behind the course. Since he is affiliated with the "Living Church of God", I can't recommend his teachings.

    Galatians 5:
1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 - Behod, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 - For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 - Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 - For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

i think i understand better now.
    Thank you all,
    Bless your hearts,

    Hi Totoo!
I hope that you also see why I said this is a broad subject that isn't easily answered. If I may, let me ask you a question about Matthew 5...to whom was Christ speaking to? Was he speaking to Christians, or was he speaking to Israelites who were still under the law? Christ spoke the truth when he said that not one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled...and it was fulfilled...by him.
I'm not sure what you're referring to when you ask if you're allowed to doubt Peter; however, I would like to quote something that Peter said when a situation arose; in which, the Pharisees (who were more versed in the law than anyone else) were trying to say that Christians should obey the law...
    Matthew 15
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
    8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Even the Israelites were unable to keep the law...no one can.
    Look at what James said...
(James 2:10) For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
If a person tries to keep the law, but breaks just one of them...they would be guilty of breaking all of the whole law. I don't remember the exact number, but there are around +/- 670 Old Testament laws. Find your rest in Christ and his righteousness...living a more holy, sanctified, and separated life comes as you grow in him.
    Take care.

This is an interesting addition to your study.
    Gal 3:22-25
    (22)  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
    (23)  But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
    (24)  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
    (25)  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

The Law had a job (purpose) of teaching us that we need Christ.
Even today, the fact that no one is able to keep all the Law teaches those willing to listen that there is only one way - through Christ Jesus the Lord.

I’m sorry - but it is literally 100000000000% impossible for you to fulfill the righteousness of the law, which is why Jesus had to die on the cross for your sins. He fulfilled all righteousness in keeping the law perfectly. When we receive Him as our Saviour, His righteousness is credited to our account in the eyes of God the Father (and ultimately our righteousness through Christ exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees, which is what God’s Word teaches).
2 Corinthians 5:21 " 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

...then...after reading that, I would suggest reading Romans chapter 13...with the key verses being 10-14.

This is a VERY broad subject that can't be answered simply.
I would like to suggest that you read Galatians 5 slowly, carefully, and prayerfully. Verse 14 is key. After reading the chapter, go back and think about what verse 14 entails.
However, to answer your question shortly and succinctly, there are no old testament laws that we are bound to; however, there are some old testament laws that can lead, guide, and direct us unto living a holy and separated life. This comes with study and rightly dividing God's word.
Christ fulfilled the law for us, and we rest in his righteousness. That isn't a free ticket to sin; rather, it's a motivator to live for him.
Your questions are truly a blessing.
