  1. PS: i started reading this chapter again and now i've got another problem: Matthew Chapter 4 Verse 1: i may be very naiive, but i'd rather ask any way: There seems to be an agreement between the Lord and the devil. i mean, although we hear that the devil is the fallen angel and all that, but according to such texts, doesn't it seem that the devil is following God's will? i mean, in this instance, it seems to my humble mind that the devil is getting employed by the Spirit to tempt Jesus Christ. What do you think? Have a great time and looking forward to your insights. Totoo
  2. Greetings all i've been reading the Good Book and i came across this in The Gospel according to St. Matthew: 4-4 : Can someone clarify and explain what this really means, please? Of course, i think i get the first part about 'bread', but what does 'every word' refer to? Is this referring to the entire Holy Bible and does it merely mean that we should live according to what is set there for us? i cannot take the 'word' as Jesus Christ, can i, since there it is mentioned: 'every' and there is only 'one' Christ. But then thinking about the context of this quote, this is in reply to hunger. i am confused. Thank you so much for your time and kindness. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  3. Dear Jordan, Thanks for your kind link, i will take a good look and i hope to get the chance to hop on that bus along and learn. Cheers and best wishes, bless your heart, Totoo
  4. Dear Alan, i am very grateful for your kindness. i totally understand and can identify and i apologise. i did not mean to say the good Pastor was wrong, mistypes and misprints happen all the time, but as i confessed to John, i have been too stupid to believe, and i hope you will pardon me for that and for my impatience. i will try harder and again, many thanks for your feedback and assistance. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  5. Ahhh, that was so stupid of me! Thanks John, i'll be more careful Bless you all Totoo
  6. Dear Alan, Once again, many thanks for your kindness. i've got a problem right from the very start, i hope it's a good thing. i have got, as it says, a King James Version of the Holy Bible right here on my desk. I purchased it online from a Chinese online store. It has been published by: Christian Art Publishers.2017. I have been using this since it arrived in the mail, and never doubted it. But now the first assignment according to the Bible Course is to study Tim: 3: 10 - 17. There is no Verse 17 in my Good Book and it ends in a rather long verse 16, compared it with other verses above it. Is there a misprint in the Bible Study course, or is my Bible faulty? How can one ever know if one's Bible is correct!? Thank you very much for your time, and may the Lord bless your hearts, Totoo PS: i must add, i just checked my PDF KJV of the Holy Bible, and just like my physical Bible, there is no Verse 17! So i gather there could be a mistype or misprint in this:
  7. Thanks a lot DaveW, i've already downloaded 'The Genesis to Revelation Bible Course' Alan suggested above and i've started reading. i will try to reach Brother Sargent's books in a bit. Thank you so much for your kind replies and time. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  8. Thanks a lot Alan, i'll check them links out right away. Your kind help and assistance is much appreciated, heartily. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  9. Dear John, As always, very thorough and kind with your time, thank you so very much and bless your heart. Well, as i have just replied to our other member NN above, i don't think it is a good idea to order physical books from abroad, you might like to take a quick read at what i mentioned there about my humble life here and all i've had to go through. PDF or epub digital format books are easier to pass around and obtain. Having said all that, just now i was lucky to receive a number of studies on the Bible from different publications and about different books of the Holy Book from an online friend i found a few days back. He has been able to find many epub format e-books for me. He is Chinese and he was saying that even he cannot order a physical book from abroad! As for the differences between the Bibles used, well, i do have a KJV of the Bible here on my desk, and whenever there is a reference to the Bible, i can simply open up my own Good Book and read the book for myself rather than depending on their references, but thanks for the heads up As you know, John, i would like to come to an understanding through research and ponder, rather than listen and follow without any thought. i know i may not be intelligent nor wise enough to grasp everything right away, but i am sure i can rely on good friends and helps such as yourself and Alan and other kind people here and i will ask questions or i can put forth what i have come to understand from a study and see what you kind people think on it. i was listening to your sermon, John, the other day, and you were talking about 'Stewards of the Lord,' and i liked it so much, but then arose the question, what is a 'Steward of the Lord'? What are the duties and responsibilities of such a one? i hope you will clarify that in your coming sermons, or you might have, but i haven't had the chance to see it yet. Thanks again, my man and take good care of yourself for us sinners. Bless your heart, Totoo
  10. Dear NN, Well, i must say, i am humbled and very grateful for your kind offer and also for your time and patience to reply to my questions. i do not think it is a good idea to send me actual books, but if you can find any books in PDF, they are all welcome. As you have wisely guessed, it may not be without trouble to receive books, especially religious books here. As a matter of fact, life has been super difficult for me here, as a Persian guy, with all the politics going around about Persia (Iran - poor translation for Persia, politics, i guess, when they say 'Iran', one forgets the millennia history and culture!) and all, after living here for about 13 years, i still have not had the chance and opportunity to obtain a resident's visa, nor a work permit, nor any other human right, i'm always at home and try to stay away from anything. Before last Christmas, i also kept away from any religious thought and beliefs, too. But then things changed. Now i want to be a good Christian and i don't think i could ever be one wholesome Christian if i cannot grasp the Holy Bible and the teachings and precepts there. The Holy Spirit and The Lord have graced me, but i have no experience whatsoever and as i have said before, this website i trust and the Holy Bible and nowhere else to go to for help. You people have all been very comforting and helpful, bless your hearts. Thanks again so very much. Totoo
  11. Dear John, Once again, many thanks for your kind help and guidance. I couldn't find that book, but i have managed to find this: Is this in any way the same and helpful? Thanks for your kind feedback and assistance. Bless your heart, Totoo
  12. Dear Alan, Thanks very much for your kind advice and suggestion, i trust you and John very much and i believe to be in very kind and helpful hands here. i will follow John's suggestions and hopefully the Lord will also bless us all with the true knowledge and light of the wisdom within the Word of God. Bless your heart, Totoo PS, i have been looking for books and publications from Baptist churches and publications, unfortunately they are hard to be found here in China.
  13. Greetings, I wonder if it is a good idea to start studying the Bible from The Old Testament through to the end or to start from the New Testament first and then go back to the Old? Thank you for your time, Totoo
  14. Greetings, i have been able to find a free online self study course here: http://dpmobc.org/course/ i hope it's good and trustworthy, your kind opinions, please. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  15. Greetings, Following Pastor John Young's kind suggestions, i started searching on the internet for the books and resources, i came across thebible.org and this: https://bible.org/passage which is a link-list of the books of the bible and by clicking on each link one is guided to another list related to that book where, for example, for the book of Matthew, you get: https://bible.org/book/Matthew Which is a whole page of links to, as it seems, audio recordings of sermons on that topic. All seems to be good and fine, my question is: Can i trust the bible.org resources? Does anyone here know anything about this site? Below is that website's Docrinal Statement: Doctrinal Statement Overview Bible.org is a broadly evangelical website with free access to the NET Bible with 60,237 translators' notes and a collection of thousands of biblically based articles, Bible studies, sermons, and various other trustworthy Bible study resources. Our authors are carefully scrutinized for their faithfulness to accuracy and truthfulness in interpreting scripture. We believe there are core essential beliefs that are fundamental to our faith and we strive to ensure all of our resources remain faithful and consistent to those foundational biblical beliefs. We also understand the broader doctrinal issues we deal with at Bible.org will have a range of interpretations within the Christian community and believe we should grant one another grace in interpretations of the non-essential beliefs. In fact, our resources are here to help one another establish a biblically sound theology and to grow and mature in our Christian faith and understanding of God and His Word in a community of grace. If we have posted something you believe should be reviewed for appropriateness, biblical accuracy, or theological soundness for posting at Bible.org, please e-mail us with your comments. The possibility always exists within thousands of resources we may have overlooked or missed something in the review process. Thank you. Here are our essential beliefs at Bible.org THE BIBLE We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. When we say inspired and without error, we mean we believe this to be verbal, plenary, infallible, and inerrant throughout. GOD THE FATHER We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. GOD THE SON We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. MANKIND We believe that human beings were created in the image of God but fell into sin and are therefore lost. Only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. SUBSTITUTIONARY DEATH OF CHRIST We believe that the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ through faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God. THE CHURCH We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through personal faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is Head. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs. ESCHATOLOGY We believe in the bodily return of Jesus, and the bodily resurrection of the dead—of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. 16. Thanks John, You are always resourceful and very helpful, bless your heart. i will take a look and see what i can do. Have a great time, Totoo
  17. Cheers, thanks a lot, i am very much blessed to have such kind friends here. My church so far has been this website and Pastor John Young's sermons on the YouTube. I tried to find a church in the city i live in, Guilin in Guangxi, but the only church i have been able to locate is a Catholic church and i checked their timetable and they have morning sermons every day very early in the morning, which is fine, but i cannot manage to get there, and i don't really want to, since it's not a Baptist church and what's more i'm sure they have mainly Chinese language sermons which is another issue. Thanks a lot for your kindness and time Bless your heart, Totoo
  18. Thanks a lot, dear friend, but believe it or not, i would rather learn the Bible in English, Persian is my mother tongue, but my English is far better than my Persian, having studied and taught English language and literature for most of my life, and having little communication in Persian, specially when it comes to the Bible and Christianity, many Persian terms are so alien to my understanding it won't make it easier if not more difficult Cheers and best wishes and thanks again for your kind time and care, bless your heart, Totoo
  19. what should i do? i just want to get to understand the Holy Bible better. i have been listening to audio files of the Bible, i have been reading the Good Book, i have enjoyed reading the Psalms and the Book of Proverbs very much, but it doesn't mean i understand much. Honest, what am i doing wrong? i am spending most of my free time thinking and listening or reading and studying the Bible. I used to do that for Shakespeare's plays, but since i've converted to Christianity, i haven't had the time to go back to Hamlet and what not, and i have mainly been reading the Bible. i think i may be too obsessed, perhaps that is because i think i have lost all my life (the life i enjoyed before my conversion - about 55 years) and i want to get as much as i can in as short a time as possible. May the Holy Spirit guide us all, Bless your hearts, Thank you Totoo
  20. Thanks DaveW, It's very kind of you to read and reply and also many thanks for your kind encouragement and time. It's good to know i am on the right path. Bless your heart, Totoo Dear Alan, Bless your heart, you have done a great job down there. Also thank you so much for the link and details, however i am not Chinese, although i do live here, my Mandarin is very limited and i mainly communicate in English or Persian (my mother tongue). Not being able to speak Chinese (Mandarin) i have been trying to find an online Bible course, which brings me to this question, do we have a Bible course on this website? If not, wouldn't be great to start one, and if yes, i have missed it Best wishes, and may the Lord Himself bless your heart, Totoo
  21. Greetings, and thanks for your kind reply, care and time, No Nicolaitans, Right, i have no idea so i asked, i understand teachers can be leading people in the right path or God forbid, mislead them. I am not looking for a degree in theology or anything, i am just trying to get more familiar with the Bible and get to understand the Good Book better, so i thought taking an online course would help. i have been trying to follow our good friends here who give sermons and kindly post their videos on YouTube, but that does not fully satisfy my needs, i think i would like to spend the time to search and find answers by myself through guidance, rather than be told what is what without any requirement from my part other than listening and then agreeing with what was said during a sermon, i hope i am not offending anyone here, that is all good for people who are too busy and too occupied to study the Bible for themselves and of course they get to enjoy being at the physical church which is a great blessing. Bless your heart, Totoo
  22. Here's the next page: All seems nice an tidy so far to my humble mind. Your kind opinions are welcome. Bless your hearts, Totoo
  23. Greetings, i went online and searched and found 'Tomorrow's World' - Bible Study Course. Has anyone got any idea or does anyone here know if this is a trustworthy place to go and study? This is what they had at the beginning of the course i registered in: God bless your hearts, Totoo
  24. Greetings all, i was just wondering, can you recommend an online Baptist KJV Bible college i could attend and enjoy learning more, please? Bless your hearts, Totoo
  25. Galatians 5: 1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 - Behod, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 - For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 - Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 - For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. i think i understand better now. Thank you all, Bless your hearts, Totoo
