  1. I am not sure if this has been covered, but I was wandering if you all might tell whether your church allows clapping in the services ? what has been your experience or view of clapping in worship meetings. do you believe its appropriate for some worship, all ,or none at all? I am interested to see where churches stand today on the issue . thanks

  2. please accept my apology brethren if I don't not agree with you and there be any offence, but obviously we are most likely grounded in our belief as I would kindly disagree with your rebuttals . so the questions is whether we can accept what we clearly believe to be error from each other and be done with this saga. as I posted  my purpose was to simply declare our stand, and not to argue the point. I am sure there are many areas where we do agree and can have good fellowship. I have friends in the ministry who understand the we do not agree on many issues and we are willing to let it go: at times we even harass one another joyfully, "there is that Ruckmanite again"....this one thing I know.. Great peace have they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them.  plus I know one more thing; we are by our own words brethren and I don't think there will be sections in heaven so we don't have to speak! may as well get to liken one another down here. somebody give me a thought for sundays message ! I will by Gods grace not bother you with this thread any longer. have a blessed day.

Jim Alaska quoted the following verse concerning the eternal salvation of soul, in any dispensation, whether Jew or Gentile. these verses clearly teach (doctrinal), that by the deeds of the flesh, whether Jew or gentile, whether under the Law or during the Millennium, the eternal salvation of the soul is through grace, by faith, and the the Law was given to show our sinfulness before a Holy and Righteous God:

Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

As Jim Alaska clearly pointed out, the salvation of the soul by faith through faith is doctrine and applies to all mankind; Jew or Gentile, under the Law or during the Millennium.

In response to the teaching by InSeasonOut that the Jews under the Law were saved by keeping the Law, No Nicolaitans wrote:

"Friend, I appreciate you taking the time to post why you believe as you do.

I mean you no offense, and my intentions aren't to cause you any type of hard feelings toward me.

I mean this as kindly as possible...I don't see that any of what you posted proved they had to obey the law and have faith to be saved, nor do I agree with much of your interpretation (as to what those various verses mean).

      (Hebrews 9:14-15

14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15  And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance."

NoNicolaitans was entirely correct, and gracious, in his comments.

I too studied the passages brought out by InSeasonOut, and read his interpretation of those passages; and found the interpretation a private interpretation not supported by the scriptures.

      Alan

I would like to get a penny for my thoughts, but don't expect any change back.

    • the reason in season and out , as well as myself and some others called bible believers agree along the same lines is  basically due to our method of study which is based upon 2nd Timothy 2:15 ..." rightly dividing the word of truth"...  for example, we believe that what paul wrote to the church was just that , it was to the church and should not apply to the Jews or to Gentiles until they become a part of the church.

    • when our Lord said in matthew 24:13 "But He that shall endure unto the end , the same shall be saved." he was clearly not speaking to the church but rather to the Jews .

    • If I get a credit card bill in my mail box that is addressed to brother Jim , I can learn a lot from reading it, however I am not responsible to pay the bill because it is not addressed to me.

    • we simply believe the key to understanding scripture is knowing who is speaking, who is spoken to, and what is he saying. If the scripture is not applied this way then many bible truths become misplaced and produce heresies . that is why the church of Christ teaches water baptism as part of salvation, its why the charismatics speak in tongues....... every heresy is a truth misplaced.

    • ALL of the bible is written for our learning , but it is not all directed to the church.

    • when the rich young ruler came to the Lord and asked him how to attain eternal life ,what the Lord did not say was believe the death, buriel , and resurrection, because it did not apply because the Lord was standing there in the flesh speaking to him,

    • while you may not agree with our method or approach I feel it is important to understand where we are coming from.

    • Heb. 11:1 says " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." so in the Mill. when Jesus is sitting on the throne of David , they will see him! and if it is sight it is no more of faith.

    • now concerning O T salvation. look at Ez. 3:20 Again when a righteous man ( right with God) doth turn from his righteousness ( go back in sin) and commit iniquity , and I lay a stumbling block before him,he shall die:because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin,and his righteousness WHICH HE HATH DONE, shall not be remembered; ....." this is one of the verses that charismatics teach for loosing salvation , the only problem is that it does not apply to the church.

    • brethren with all humility and truthfulness in my heart , the sole purpose here is that you understand why we ( I) believe what we believe and that even if you disagree we can agree that we disagree and have fellowship and rejoicing over the fact that we could still be cursing and fighting with cue sticks at bubbas bar.(no offence to all the bubbas and their husbands ) but we are fellowshipping over the precious words of God.  And I am not worthy!! be blessed.

  3. :15_1_63: I am a pastor, looking for a place of fellowship ( not battleship ) if I have wronged anyone please accept my humble apology! my desire is to encourage and be encouraged, I am a bible believing Baptist, and I take the word of God literally where possible , when not ,I take it spiritually.first and foremost I am a born again Christian, I am not afraid of debates in its time and place. no one has to agree with everything I say as long as I am in a place where I have a right to say it. if I am addressing someone or being addressed I don't think others should have to wonder in confusion about what is said or meant. I love the church that God died for and hope the Lord is pleased with the time I spend in conversation with others of like faith. if this meets with the approval of this board and you would be pleased then I would like to give it another try, be blessed , Pastor Dr. Joe Coley

  4. brother Jim, this is Pastor Coley, I will not make implications so you can try to figure out who is he referring to. I am not a novice and have been in the ministry and studying this book for 30 years. I have a BA , MA AND 2 PHDS and trashed them all because they were unscriptural as best as I understood. from an IFB school. I haven't bashed anyone here because they disagree with me, my desire was to (be a help and blessing as a teacher of the word. it is however obvious that if I do not agree with the doctrines of this board that I am a heretic , ( them , the some, the they,.....) I have on big boy pants, and have tried to with kindness  say where I stand, and at least promote thought. so I will bow out and find fellowship where it is ok to do so. be blessed brethren . pastor Coley

  5. food for thought: God had to protect the tree in the garden or Adam could have eaten of it and had eternal life.

the disciples were not born again until they believed after his resurrection . in luke 24 they came to put spices on a dead body , not to witness his resurrection, he told them many times he would be taken , killed and rise again and they understood not the things he said.the spirit was given them in John for a special purpose not for salvation. he told Peter "after you are converted...."

a man is not save in the millinial reign by faith because faith will be site, for jesus will be seen sitting on the throne of david.

there is more than one gospel ,that is why Paul warned the church against preacing any other gospel ,,an angel is preaching the everlasting gospel in Rev. 14 and it is FEAR GOD AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY. FOR TRIBULATION.

In short , we tey to apply everything to the church today but it want fit! Paul was not saved the way we are saved ! no one in Matthew was saved like you are. they had there sin covered , not removed, You don't have to take a lamb to the slaughter once a year.

now come on guys the old test. saints went to paradise and many came up after Jesus resurrection and walked the streets of the city.

Jesus was the only graduate in his first grade class because every boy his age was dead, so spiritually speaking every time the scribes and Pharisees saw him in the flesh , they saw the death , burial, and resurrection.

no one in the old test. was looking forward to the cross!

Here we go again with this hyper-dispensationalism, Ruckmanism heresies...

Peter Ruckman was not hyper-dispensational he was moderate! he preached against hyper. if we would do what God said and rightly divide the word of truth we would all be moderate, I learned right division before I ever knew of Dr. Ruckman .frankly my brother you should not speak of matters you are not sure of. with kindness, pastor coley

  7. I was preaching a revival meeting in Barrow Alaska last year, and was astonished at the way the schools had all of the children in that place literally scared to death that ice caps were going to melt a they were all going to drown in a flood! so one night we took a glass of ice and filled it with water like we do with tea down south. I asked the church how many believed that when the ice melts it will over flow the glass. well to my surprise they all raised their hands. but they were shocked when the water level dropped!! look I don't know much about the scientific parts but I can promise you this: God never created an earth that he can not sustain until he is ready to b urn it up !!

  8. stop studying doctrine? makes for good preaching, ...... 2nd Tim. 3:16 doctrine is simply what is true and what is not.

when Paul addressed a church in a city , it was not the Methodist, presb, or even Baptist . it was the blood washed saints. I am pastor of a local Church and there are probably lost folks in it. no lost folks in the true church!  there is the church in the wilderness, the church of Satan, church is a called out assembly. just more cud to chew. 1st cor. 12:13 is not a visible church ,but a spiritual baptism into an invisible body! the only one I am sure of that is in it is me. we can not no the truth of others.

  9. not trying to offend anyone, John the Baptist was a friend of the groom and not in the body of Christ! there is nothing wrong with the scriptures , it all fits like a glove if we rightly divide them. remember when Jesus told peter flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto you, but my father has revealed it,after Peter said Thou art the Christ ,the Son of God? it was revealed to peter who Jesus was because he had been baptized by John. Peter being a Jew of coarse.this was the purpose of Johns baptism.here is where I loose some: there is only one body of Christ and it is not local! I am a local church man , I believe everything is done through the local church , having said that the church is universal . even if I don't like the word. hope this helps , Pastor Coley

  10. The church did not begin with John the Baptist. I am not a Baptist brider. John baptized to reveal the messiah to Israel, see John 1:31 the church began at Pentecost and was later revealed to paul . we baptize because it is a ordinance of the church , but we are Christians because we follow Christ.. 1st Corinthians 12:13 is not a water baptism but a Spiritual that places us into the body of Christ.

  11. I am Christian by faith, Baptist by conviction! because Independent Baptist is the only denomination that believes the word of God as its final authority for matters of faith and practice.we are the only ones who believe that Baptism has absolutely nothing to do with salvation.i take the bible ( king James) literally except where impossible to do so,at which point God will tell you its spiritual. we are not protestant therefore we are not a break off of the catholic church! as for our origin, they were first called Christians at Antioc. a persons name will tell you where they stand. we are not apart of a cooperative program or a holy mother church. I am old fashion Bible Believing, King James Only, premillinial, washed in the blood , born in the fire so the smoke don't bother me! and I have eternal life . if you need a date for its origin I'm sure one of my scholarly brethren can help. if a Methodist were closest to sound doctrine, that is what I would be. hope this helps.

  12. I was washed in the blood of The Lamb Of God, Feb, 1986 while in an alcohol treatment center on a six week detox. see " unshackled, the Joe Coley story"  my uncle who later became my only pastor until his death a few years ago would come by every other day and quote scriptures. after two weeks of that, one day I was expecting him to come by ,but the Holy Spirit came in his place. by the side of my bed , on my knees I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior! that is the short of it.

  13. using perverted bibles is like the man who raised chickens for a living. he had a hen setting on a nest and decided he would save money so he mixed saw dust in with his laying mash. well the hen set on twelve eggs. finally eleven of the eggs hatched and they all had wooden legs.then the 12th one hatched and he was a wood pecker.:think_smiley_50:

  14. WW repentance is a great need for sure . sadly the brokenness over our condition has failed in the church of the last days! every man does that which is right in his on eyes, and the only sin we cant see is the ones in our own life.

  15. In one word, what would you say is the single and most needful ingredient missing from our independent Baptist churches today? for example I believe it is probably spiritual discernment. others may be standards , loyalty, fellowship, trust, prayer, .........etc.

please give an explanation for your answer. thanks

  16. Brother, I think we are in agreement. I travel all over the country and some parts of the world holding meetings and it seems to be the condition of the country! some churches have truth and lack in spirit, while others seem to have spirit but lack in truth. I am simply saying that if a church has truth , they have something to work with . Maybe the missing ingredient are the folks who have the discernment that you and I have about it . perhaps we are the missing link.I am sure the answer would not be to stay at home until the truth filled church gets a revival. perhaps if I went to be a spiritual help rather than get some help maybe I could make a difference. I am not suggesting in any way that you are the problem But maybe my attitude is in need of repair. Thanks for the wake up call. be blessed.
