The JW organization forbids its members from accepting non JW literature. Makes it difficult to witness to them one on one as they foist all their material on us
The late Walter Martin had a method that he claimed worked very well. When the JWs came to his door, he would insist on leading a prayer prior to any discussion. Before they even knew what was happening, in the prayer, he actually shared the gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you give me some first names of those in your life that need prayer, my wife and I would be happy to include them with our own prayers.

They are deceived and need our prayers as well.

Good post. You hit some good points and are so right about it being hard to find a good church anymore. I hope this doesn't discourage you as you are a somewhat new Christian. Keep praying about it. There are still some churches out there that are bible believing, bible teaching.
Whenever I come across free books in a library and other places, if I see books like Purpose Driven Life that have false teachings, I toss them out so that others won't read it and get deceived.

Yep, I know where the modern versions come from. I spent a lot of time arguing against them on another site forum and a bunch of christians jumped on me and tried to skin me alive.

TheSword1227 got a reaction from 1Timothy115 in "Repent of Your Sins" False gospel
The apostle Peter told the Jews they needed to repent and be baptized. This is different from what Paul said. The things many Christians don't realize is that Peter was preaching to Jews, not Gentiles. Pentecost was a Jewish Feast Day. He accuses the Jews of killing Christ and that they needed to repent of this crime and get baptized.
This is where the misunderstanding come from. Those who adhere to a "works" theology, claim Peter taught repentance and baptism as necessary for salvation. But they miss the context. It's very important to know who was writing , to whom they wrote and what were the circumstances.

Praise God you were able to bring your family into the Truth. I come from a long line of Catholics and helped my own parents to become born again. Most of my relatives quietly left the RCC and joined different denominations.
There seems to be quite a bit of mixing law and grace going on today.Very difficult to leave a "works" theology church. I know of a Jewish lady who is roman catholic. She calls herself both a messianic Jew and a Hebrew Catholic. I think you are right about how some want to remain SOMETHING at heart. In her case she didn't want to lose her Jewishness.
For Catholics, it isn't just a religion, but a way of life.

That's what religion is: a system of works and man made traditions because Christ's atonement was (is) not enough according to them.
This is why Christianity is NOT a religion.
Praise God you left the RCC!
    Thanks for the photos.

I mean no disrespect, but I'm having a hard time understanding why an adult would put only a nickel in the collection plate. Or even just a dollar a week. Churches have bills to pay, missionaries to send, etc etc. Remember, it's really to God you are giving back to.

Yes, Roman Catholicism adopted many pagan beliefs from places like Egypt and later "christianized them.   The skull cap that the pope wears came from the ones that the sun priests of Egypt would wear.   I even read that back in the early days of the RCC priests and monks  all had the same hair style with the bald patch on the top which symbolized worship of the sun.

As a born and raised catholic, I was confirmed too and had 1st Communion as well. All those classes, and to this day I can't remember what went on or was said in any of them. It's just more man made traditions which has nothing to do with God or our eternal salvation.

I like the fact that you toss out their literature. it's one of the ways Christians can help. I do this all the time as I see their literature everywhere.
Those in a "works" theology always have much zeal. What they lack is assurance of where they will end up when this life is over. I once spoke with an elderly gentleman who was a JW his whole life. I asked him if he had assurance of salvation. He said: "I can only hope I have done enough." Sad.

I spent 18 years in the Roman Catholic church. In all that time I was Bible illiterate. I never grew spiritually. I just went through the motions because that's what was expected. We were all like sheep with our "vain repetitions."
Then I met some Christians and was invited to a Bible study. That was an eye opener for me and I was changed forever. I never went back to the RCC.
No, you can't be Catholic and a Baptist, or a  Methodist, or Pentecostal, etc etc. You can't mix "works" with grace. You can't mix Truth with error. You have to have the right foundation. If one's foundation is faulty, most every thing else that comes out of it will be faulty too.
