Consider doing it again Rose. Listen with a prayerful and open heart and stop looking for reinforcement of what you have already been taught when you listen. Dismiss everything you have heard from men and start over. Only God's unadulterated Word can give you the Spirit's witness with your spirit. Quick human reassurances cannot. I can honestly tell you right now that it will not be a quick change in your heart but it is totally up to you. If you are truly seeking Him than show Him and you will find Him. You may think you have read and understood the New Testament but your understanding is only through other's lenses if you are honest with yourself.

You are living evidence that human reassurances only work temporarily and only in the mind, not the heart. Remember in sales, salesmen are taught how to handle objections and then how to handle buyer's remorse. This is not a sales transaction. You need the Living Water, the Bread of Life and you need to look at His Word in this way and only this way. Not as a resource to answer a specific question but the food of eternal life.

Trust me, it will work. Listen as if it were food and you were starving, He will show you Truths you have never heard from anyone before including the Word of His patience and He will give you the peace that passes all understanding.

It is all He wants from you, remember Mary Magdalene whom our Lord complemented.

    Luke 10:

[39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
[40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
[41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
[42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

I’m very scared, but I know it’s my human flesh/the devil. I’m scared I won’t be able to repent or what he will show me, but I know the condemnation is that light has come to the world and men hated the light, lest their deeds be reproved.

    PLEASE pray for me!!!

No one is going to get rid of his sin.  My question, Do you want to live in sin or you want to be saved from its penalty and power?

I don’t want my sin to drag me to hell, so I want Christ to change me SO I can please Him. But, I know we are supposed to love God, before we can get saved, right? At least at the initial point of salvation? I mean, if I go back to my sin as soon as I get a little assurance, because I feel “off the hook”, do I TRULY love God? I know Biblically that can’t be the case. I’ve tried and wept and agonized and read the Bible, prayed, searched the Scriptures, talked with other Christians for 8 years now and still feel convicted I’m unsaved.

I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m getting closer to death and I’m getting more depressed and probably more hardened. Believe me, IVE TRIED to get right!!

Hi sister, no easy or cliche answers seem to help anymore do they?

If you are serious then try this. Listen to His Word and listen intently. As if your life depended on it.

    Bread of Life

I’ve tried this and got so weary and afraid, because I’m just agonizing to be saved, but I’m listening to the same things I already know, trying to get to that point! If God is ready to save me, I want to be saved today, I can’t take it anymore! I was reading the Gospel of John last night, I already have heard and read it, it doesn’t make me more ready to be saved, I already want to!!

  4. No matter how much of the Bible I read, how many sermons I listen to, or how much I pray, I cannot repent.

I cannot truly have hatred of sin. My motivation is to not go to hell and when I feel at all secure that I’m going to Heaven, I immediately don’t care about if I’m sinning or not.

I cannot feel bad that sin hurts God. I only care about myself. I’ve felt convicted for years that I’m unsaved for this reason.

I don’t know what to do. I’m scared and running out of hope. I’m worried I’m to hard spiritually to repent.

    HOW do I settle this??

I've heard it so many times that it's considered"fornication" only premarital or during the "betrothal" period. But I know of three (3) families, baptists, in which the husband went to prison for molesting the children. If that isn't "fornication" I don't know what is. It would be so with an offending wife as well.. The Bible says ''except it be for fornication'';' otherwise, marriage is always holy and legitimate.

That is so, horrible. That would be such a horrifying thing to learn of someone at your church, especially!

Are you saying a person that’s ever committed fornication of any kind, isn’t allowed to ever be married, though? I still think it could be allowed if found out, but not sure if it would actually make the marriage, illegitimate?

  6. “But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What does this mean? Is it a sin then, for a non-virgin woman to be married to someone besides the man that had relations with her, first?

Well, I also have read the virgin in regards to a woman can just mean “maiden”, too. So maybe I was interpreting it wrong. Not sure.

  7. When Jesus says the only way you can divorce your wife and it be permitted, is if she commits fornication (either before or during betrothal, I suppose), is it a situation where the woman would be married to the person she had relations with, in God’s eyes (relations=marriage?) or was it not something that had to be done, but would be permissible for other reasons?

Basically, what if the woman was truly repentant of her past actions and truly loved and wanted to be a good wife to the man. Would the man have to not be with her, to be in God’s will, because by God’s law, it would be forbidden, or is it something you can choose to do, if you decide that you can’t trust her or it was shameful in appearance or something?

Also, is a marriage only legitimate if one of them is saved? I think I’ve heard that, but wanted clarification.

I hope my question makes sense!

    Thank you

  8. I would be so grateful if I could get some strong prayers/be put on your prayer list.

I feel The Lord working on my heart about something very important and I need prayers for my doubts and my walls around my heart, to fall.

I would appreciate it, so much. I also appreciate you, all! You all have been very helpful in helping to teach me things, that I was having difficulty with.

    Thank you! ❤️

I’m sorry to hear about your mental health struggles. I’ve had chronic depression and anxiety since I was very young, so I sympathize with you.

First I want to say that you a correct about the steps to salvation - Accept. Believe. Receive.. We can only accept Gods Grace, we cant earn it or manipulate its effectiveness by religious knowledge that would develope  a  “disciple heart”.

I personally feel like you are expecting too much from yourself too soon. I’m guessing that the majority of people who come to salvation still have some doubt or feelings that they aren’t trusting enough like you. Your salvation isn’t dependent on your own feelings or doubt..salvation is from God alone. Your salvation was sealed when by FAITH you accepted Jesus sacrifice for you.

In my own personal experience, there was no immediate change in my life. In fact it was almost three years after that I finally started to bear fruit and become more bold about my salvation. We are all in the process of learning to trust him more, and gradual sanctification.

I notice you keep mentioning “feelings”, and that is concerning. You have to realize that your own person doubts and feelings have no effect one way or another on if you are saved. God saves..all we can do is accept.

Lastly I would like to address what you think God is “saying” to you. From the way it’s worded I have the impression that you believe God is speaking to you audibly or mentally. This my personal belief about that. 1. It’s my understanding that God no longer speaks to us in the way you are explaining. I believe that since Jesus was the “Word” that means his teachings are the voice of God. Today God still speaks to us through the Bible that was God breathed and preserved so we can hear his voice today. So if you are hearing doubtful voices then my guess it is either your own feelings and insecurities coming to the surface, or it could be Satan attacking you because you are a daughter of God now.

Take your time. Stay in the WORD because it is God speaking to you. Surround yourself with Christian friends. Don’t be embarrassed about doubt, we all have it at one time or another. Go talk to your Pastor about your concerns. He is there to help reconcile these type of things.

    Good luck.

    - In Christ

I really appreciate your encouragement and sharing your sympathy towards my mental struggles. That’s very kind, hardly anyone is willing to discuss those things, so, thank you!

I am also encouraged by your thoughts on the matter that I wrote about, I’m going to add those points to my notes!

Doubts can be very hard to share, I hate telling everyone my struggles, I just get so upset. I’m a very sensitive person, I’ve always been.

I do have to trust that I’m saved. I believe/accept the Gospel and have called on the LORD to save me. I need to remember this! God gets the glory and longs for our fellowship, so I don’t think He would make it difficult! If someone wants Him, then He’s right there!

Here is one way to think about it.  We seek to be obedient children of God but we will be imperfect. No one is good but God and He knows we will not reach his standard.  That is why we need his grace.  Anyway, we sincerely try to be good disciples but also we accept His forgiveness when we fall short.  This is not an excuse for living a wild life.  We keep striving toward the goal and we get better.  Look in the rear view mirror.  See how far we have come.  Progress seems slow but the mile markers stack up.

Thank you, I appreciate your take on this matter! It is helpful! I will keep this in mind!

Repentance in Salvation (not unto) is a fruit of salvation And is a show that you have been adopted by God. Discipleship is what you do as a child of God as any child you can feel ashamed of your sin and the fact you cannot measure up or that you are not worthy to be a child of a perfect God but those feelings do not in any way determine your position in God Though Christ. If you have called upon God as your father for salvation then God's Spirit is in you and you cannot be separated from it, no matter what you do.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Psalm 89:28-34 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. 29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. 30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; 31 if they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; 32 then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Romans 8:34-39 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    That is helpful, thank you!

I need many prayers for my mental/emotional struggles. I have always had ocd/anxiety. It’s a horrible disorder and I need healing.

  11. I sometimes can’t quite grasp the difference between these two.

Jesus says to come unto Him for salvation, but He also says that if someone comes after Him, they must forsake all and pick up their cross.

I know it’s not a physical seperation of the world or a promise to not sin, but I feel convicted that in order to fully put yourself on Him for salvation, you must see Him as such, to where you could happily run away from everyone/everything in your life.

People see God in a cruel task-master sort of way and that’s why they don’t trust God enough to fully fling themselves onto Him and off their crutches of their family/friends/whatever keeps them feeling “secure”. They don’t want to forsake all and follow Christ, completely.

So many say that you only admit you’re a sinner/know only Jesus’s sacrifice can save you, and be willing for Christ to change you, but it appears you have to go into salvation already with the heart of a disciple. That is most definitely what I see God saying when Jesus talks about hating our life/family/etc.

Fully trusting Him, would mean no doubt when you come to Him for salvation.

I’m a bit nervous because I still see God as too scary to judt be alone with because I know my heart isn’t totally trusting Him. I feel convicted that I haven’t totally trusted Him, alone and I don’t have total faith that everyone/everything is but loss, compared to Christ.

People keep saying I’m wrong, but why do I hear God saying this to me?? Why do I feel like God’s saying I’m not saved because I wasn’t in this mind-set when I came to Him for salvation??

Please pray and help me understand if I’m misinterpreting something.

I’m scared and feel helpless. I don’t want to value anything more than, God. But, my wicked heart can’t let go of all and see Him as truly a loving, so much better than anyone/anything God because I’m scared and the Bible says that people with that heart are evil and unsaved.

Please be honest with me and please pray for discernment on what I need to know.

@Roselove,I have to second what Salyan says about bc pills. There are components to the pills that are really just not healthy for us. The pills usually have estrogen in them, as well as progestin. Both are man-made to simulate what the ovaries produce. Too much estrogen can cause breast cancer.  Too long a use of progestin affects the nervous system and joint/muscle/back pain. It can also affect the cardiovascular system, the skin, vision, etc. Personally, it isn't worth the side effects for me, even if that seems to be the answer.

Ofttimes, food can help certain situations. An 8 oz glass of tomato juice, according to research done by Harvard, can cut the risk of ovarian cancer in half. Drinking green tea every day cuts the risk as well. Foods with quercitin in them (all kinds of peppers, apples, berrries, asparagus, buckwheat, onions, kale, etc) also help the liver break down carcinogens, thus also helping avoid ovarian cancer. Nuts, and belgian endive also help.

Sleep is vital to the immune system. I was told by a naturopath (and it's since been repeated by other docs) to get in bed by 11 pm, if not earlier. He said that the hours before midnight are the best hours for rest and our immunity.  I don't always do that, but when I'm in bed by 9 or 010, I really am more rested.

Rather than retyping what he said, I'm going to post a link from Dr. Axe regarding anemia. He explains what it is (I scrolled down past it, because it's lengthy...and I know what it is, as I'm sure you do LOL), but then he lists foods to avoid and foods/supplements to eat/take. https://draxe.com/anemia-symptoms/  Maybe something he says can be of help? (he's a doctor of natural medicines, just so you know he's not a quack...although some people think folks that do natural meds are nuts. LOL)

I had to quit using our cast iron skillets for a while because I had too much iron in my system. Maybe you could invest in a couple of cast iron pans to cook in? They aren't good for things that have a high water content, but there's a lot that can be cooked in them. It may or may not help.

Likely the bleeding issue is what has caused the anemia. When my husband had his accident on Feb. 14, they had to take him off his warfarin because the (huge!) hematoma he got wouldn't stop bleeding. His leg was really swelled up from being filled with blood. Ugh! So they took him off the warfarin and put him on Vitamin K. Vitamin K is considered an antidote to warfarin in the case of a brain bleed or other bleeding that won't stop. That is for those who are on warfarin, though. Maybe you could ask your doctor if Vit. K might be of any help in the bleeding?

I sure hope you can find some answers! I know you must really feel lousy most days!

What you both said, makes sense. Pharmaceutical companies are crazy. I am definitely going to look into the other options you mentioned. The vitamin K and tomato juice seems like some very easy alternatives! ?

Not sure what to say when it comes to more extreme healthy issues, but I've been told to use pills for other problems like stomach pain and more mild stuff

I think it wouldn't be a problem if you're unmarried cause there would be nothing there to kill if you take pills but that's my personal perspective.

I’m married. My husband thinks I should be on it for my health issues, too.

  15. I am curious if birth control is okay to use, in cases of health issues.

I have a disease that causes extreme blood loss and my family has history of ovarian cancer (which my disease also increases risk of). I have been told by numerous doctors that taking at least a low-dose birth control pill, would help the blood loss and cut my risk of ovarian cancer, by 50%.

I’ve heard that the pills can cause an early-term abortion, which is why I still haven’t tried taking them.

I haven’t had success yet with iron-rich foods helping my Anemia and there’s no cure for the disease that causes the heavy bleeding. I also don’t know of strong preventative measures of ovarian cancer.

I would use other various forms of pregnancy control at the same time, to prevent possibility of pill-induced abortion.

I know this is pretty controversial, but I’d really appreciate some advice and prayers. Also, if anyone knows some ways to help these problems, I’d love to know!

Actually, for most of the spiritual gifts, there is an element wherein all believers might engage the ability somewhat.  However, those who possess that area of spiritual gift, when filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit for its usage, will have a special strength of ability in that area.

I agree with that! I feel like I’ve possibly experienced a little of all of them.

Yeah, I guess I think my friend probably possesses a particularly strong ability in that area. The way she describes the experience, plus the way her walk with God is, I would believe that she is definitely in-tune with this discernment. At times, I think I can relate to what she’s describing, but on a lower level, I guess. ?

  17. On 11/16/2018 at 9:30 AM, Pastor Scott Markle said:

Well, to some extent I also can discern if someone is filled with the Spirit and with the spirit of truth, or not.  However, I cannot do so according to some "automatic, supernatural" ability.  Rather, I can discern if someone is filled with the spirit based upon whether their behavior is in accord with the fruit of the spirit or in accord with the works of the flesh. (See Galatians 5:13-26)  Furthermore, I can discern if someone is filled with the spirit of truth or the spirit of error based upon whether their message/doctrine is in accord with the wholesome words of our Lord Jesus Christ and in accord with the doctrine which is according to godliness, or is in accord with worldly philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men and the rudiments of the world. (See 1 Timothy 5: 3-5 & Colossians 2:8)

I see what you’re saying, but I suppose I was thinking that if it’s a specific gift that God gave to a person, it would be a more supernatural experience, because I would assume that any Christian could tell whether someone was doing something wrong or teaching a false gospel. I feel like it must be something, more.

  18. 5 hours ago, Pastor Scott Markle said:

    Sister Rose,

In order to answer your above question, two preliminary questions must be considered -

    1.  What is the Biblical definition for the gift of discerning spirits?
    2.  Is the gift of discerning spirits a sign gift or a "ministry" gift?

We find the gift of discerning spirits in the listing of 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 -- "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."  Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 12:28 adds the listing, "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

From these two passages we acquire a list, as follows:

    1.  The gift of apostleship
    2.  The gift of prophecy
    3.  The gift of teaching
    4.  The word of wisdom
    5.  The word of knowledge
    6.  The gift of miracles
    7.  The gift of healing
    8.  the discerning of spirits
    9.  The gift of helps
    10.  The gift of governments
    11.  The gift of tongues-speaking
    12.  The gift of tongues-interpretation

Now, 1 Corinthians 13:8 indicates that at some time at least three spiritual gifts will cease to be necessary and/or valid.  These are the gifts of prophecies, of tongues-speaking, and of special-knowledge.  As I have presented in earlier postings, I believe that that these gifts are representative for two categories of spiritual gift, the category of the sign gifts and the category of the revelatory gifts.  I consider the gift tongues-speaking as representing the category of the sign gifts, and I consider gifts of prophecies and of special-knowledge as representing the category of the revelatory gifts.  In accord with Mark 16:17-18 I consider the following gifts as being within the category of the sign gifts - the gifts of devil-casting, of tongues-speaking, of miracle-working, and of healings.  I myself believe that these sign gifts have now ceased.  (Note: Although I believe that these sign gifts have now ceased as spiritual gifts, I still believe that devil-casting, miraculous events, and miraculous healing can still occur today through the power of prayer.)

Now, if we remove the sign gifts from the above listing, we would then have the following:

    1.  The gift of apostleship
    2.  The gift of prophecy
    3.  The gift of teaching
    4.  The word of wisdom
    5.  The word of knowledge
    8.  the discerning of spirits
    9.  The gift of helps
    10.  The gift of governments

Furthermore, I myself believe that the revelatory gifts would include the gifts of apostleship, of prophecy, of special knowledge (which may include the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge), and that these revelatory gifts have also ceased.  If I am correct, then our edited listing would have the following:

    3.  The gift of teaching
    8.  the discerning of spirits
    9.  The gift of helps
    10.  The gift of governments

This would appear to allow that the discerning of spirits is a spiritual gift that still exists unto this day.  However, we must still discern the Biblical definition for this spiritual gift.  Even so, I would suggest that for such an understanding we should consider 1 John 4:1-6 -- "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.  They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.  Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."  In accord with this passage, I would contend that the discerning of spirits is the ability to discern between the Spirit of God and the spirit of the world, to discern between the Spirit of Christ and the spirit of antichrist, to discern between the spirit of Biblical truth in message and doctrine and and spirit of worldly, fleshly, devilish error in message and doctrine.

Whether your friend actually possesses this spiritual gift, I cannot say.  I do not know her, nor do I know how she is defining that gift which she claims to possess.

Concerning myself, I would probably contend that I have a gift-mix of various spiritual gifts, but that my primary spiritual gift is the gift of teaching.  Maybe others would even substantiate that claim . . .

Well, she said to me, that she can discern whether someone has the Holy Spirit in them after a moment of interacting with them. She says she can also discern whether a Christian is “back slidden”, like their light is blocked by worldly garbage.

She has also said that she can sense if there’s evil spirits in certain areas, like she knows there’s something wrong.

To me, I don’t think these things are unbiblical. I mean, children of God should probably be more sensitive to these thing, since His Spirit is within us.

I would think that this would help us “soul-win” and stay away from things that would be harmful to our spiritual walk?
